Westminstenders: Indicative Crossiants

Tomorrow the Indicative debate starts at 3pm

The Speaker will choose options to go to vote.

Vote at 7pm for yes or no for each option.

7.30pm The SI debate on extension followed by vote.

Announcement of the indicative vote sometime between 8.15pm and 9.30pm

Meanwhile the DUP have indicated they would prefer a long delay (and presumably EU elections by default) rather than May's deal, in a strange twist of Brexit.

Hello, I haven't posted on any of these threads for ages but I've been reading them all. Are we definitely not leaving on the 29th now?

PostNotInHaste · 26/03/2019 19:49

No surprise my MP has signed the Bill Cash letter, knew he would the moment I heard about it. Looked at his Twitter page and he now has ‘“... he might just be the most important person in Britain you have never heard of.” (Sunday Times)’ at the top of it. Sad thing is he has actually been good on school funding and some other stuff but is getting more hardline by the day.

Before the Referendum he wrote a letter to the local paper saying basically had weighed it up and on balance felt we’d be better leaving but he didn’t seem to be that fussed. I think it was Lisa Nandy who said yesterday about attitudes hardening, definitely agree with that.

Kittywampus
If the SI goes through OK then its the 12th April at the earliest
if the SI does not go through, goodness knows

That cat's expression makes me feel nervous. Like he's framed me for a crime I didn't commit and is looking forward to me suffering the fallout.

I don't necessarily agree that 'promptly' meant last week. When applying to set aside Judgment under CPR 13, 'promptly' is any time within about a month of the Judgment being made (certainly I wouldn't argue that an Application wasn't prompt if it was made within that timeframe).

Maybe JR might be different to bog standard civil lit., but I don't think it's reasonable (that bloody word which rules lawyers' lives) to think an Application should be instructed / drafted / filed within a couple of business days. I would certainly argue the point with a Judge / my opponent on that point.

However, thankfully it's not just the timeframe which is questionable, but the interpretation of the law!

dontcallmelen · 26/03/2019 19:56

Hope the don’t get thrown off the thread, but I’m scared of cats.

Violetparis · 26/03/2019 19:57

Do you think enough Tory MPs will support the People's Vote amendment ? I'm not convinced there is but happy to be corrected.

IgnoranceIsStrength · 26/03/2019 19:58

I just tried to email my local mp again (sadly a Tory brexiter ) and it bounced back as his inbox was full. Sadly considering the leaver area we are in it was probably full of no deal emails. I do feel like my voice just isn't being heard.

HazardGhost · 26/03/2019 20:01

dontcall I used to be to! Got over it...some i can now even like.

FusionChefGeoff · 26/03/2019 20:03

Is there any chance they will votes AGAINST the SI and we'll be back to No Deal on Friday???

Despite already voting
A) against no deal
B) for an extension

It genuinely wouldn't surprise me if both those things were now wrong and we did, in fact, no deal without an extension..

But surely its not all gone THAT mad???

prettybird · 26/03/2019 20:03

Siamese are just dogs in disguise Wink

(I'm scared of dogs but I'm better than I used to be Wink)

Mother - I agree, the SNP shouldn't be heading up any of the Revoke/Softer Brexit propositions, as they will voted against just on principle Confused Not saying that that's right, but that's just the way that WM works Sad

Croissants with Nutella and a placemark please.

Windowsareforcheaters · 26/03/2019 20:10

And as we have already established Siamese are also Brexit cats with firm views on foreigners in their gardens.

Kittywampus · 26/03/2019 20:12

Thanks TalkinPaece g they are voting on that tomorrow, right? (very confused at the moment)

whymewhynow · 26/03/2019 20:12

re: Cash and Braverman there was a vote in Parliament to extend A50 before May went to the summit so what's the problem? Do they seriously believe that HoC would vote against s delay?

I also got a personal thank you email from Nicky Morgan - so in service of balance - what a nice woman!

Those asking about the 29th - International law states we are not leaving on the 29th. If the government doesn't get it's act together re the SI ... international law still trumps that. It'll just be a rather embarrassing period where our law doesn't match up with reality and they'll have to sort it out.
I suppose we can pretend we crashed out ... but everything will still be working and we'll still be EU citizens.

prettybird she’s a clumsy lump that snores louder than DH.

PinkieTuscadero don’t worry, I was getting “the look” because I wasn’t paying her enough attention. She’s actually nice but dim.

TalkinPaece & kittywampus

The EU has extended Article 50 to at least April 12th - international law trumps domestic law, so definitely not leaving on the 29th. The issue is that it leaves UK domestic law in a weird position - new UK laws made under the EU Withdrawal Act to replace EU existing laws would run in parallel with those existing laws and cause confusion.
