Westminstenders: Indicative Crossiants

RedToothBrush · 26/03/2019 18:23

Tomorrow the Indicative debate starts at 3pm

The Speaker will choose options to go to vote.

Vote at 7pm for yes or no for each option.

7.30pm The SI debate on extension followed by vote.

Announcement of the indicative vote sometime between 8.15pm and 9.30pm

Meanwhile the DUP have indicated they would prefer a long delay (and presumably EU elections by default) rather than May's deal, in a strange twist of Brexit.

Delurking to share some interesting news from my top political source (aka my mother who is on the village hall committee)

That's where all the best political news comes from Grin

The council phoned this afternoon to make a provisional booking to use it as a polling station at the end of May. It is already booked for local elections at the beginning of May. Possible contingency plans for Euro elections?
I really hope so! Though I imagine they were just hedging their bets rather than them really knowing something (how could anybody?)
Was the booking for the 23rd?

How do you address somebody that has a knighthood? Thinking of sending an email myself. Can't hurt to let people know they're appreciated in other countries too.

BoreOfWhabylon · 26/03/2019 19:20

I claim this thread for the lands of Free Wessex and Scotland.

I went Bercow, fondue, Barnier and got Revoke. But I had a croissant at work this morning, does that count?

Just checked with dh who also spoke to DM and he said it was the 23rd that had been booked and he thinks she said it was the borough council. Does that make it more likely to be a general election? Or something else?

I'll pump her for details tomorrow.

RedToothBrush · 26/03/2019 19:27

Mark Elliott @ profmarkelliott
A group of Conservative MPs, including @BillCashMP and @SuellaBraverman, have written to the Prime Minister arguing that the Government acted unlawfully by extending Article 50 without prior parliamentary permission. In this post, I explain why I think they are wrong.

I can't remember what else I voted for now HmmAll I remember is the croissants 🥐. This could be because I'm on a diet I did get people's vote. I remember that.

TalkinPaece · 26/03/2019 19:31

Dockray
Borough Council are the returning officers so that makes it MUCH less likely to be speculative
could be EU, could be GE, could be both
but that is really interesting.
I shall do some sounding out Grin

How do you address somebody that has a knighthood?

Dear Sir [First Name]

Yup,
I deal with a peer regularly for work and even the chattiest email is
"Dear Sir Peter"

Summary, they are ERG prats

Paul Daly @ pauldalyesq
And a legal challenge by Cash et al would (already) risk being out of time.

Judicial review claimants have to act "promptly".

Arguable here that promptness required a claim last week, when all relevant information was available.

Nothing (legally) has changed in the interim.

Entertaining a judicial review claim now would cause great uncertainty and (potentially) administrative chaos.

If one were initiated I expect the government would take issue with the timeliness of the claim.
