Vote 12th March: Meaningful Vote on the Withdrawal Agreement

Vote 13th March: If WA fails, vote on No Deal

Vote 14th March: If WA fails, vote on A50 extension

Not much more to add at this stage that's not repeating what's been said before.

Obscure no-deal Brexit group is UK's biggest political spender on Facebook

Dark money still sloshing around, specifically pushing No Deal

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/mar/09/obscure-no-deal-brexit-group-is-uks-biggest-political-spender-on-facebook

The single biggest known British political advertiser on Facebookk^ is a mysterious pro-Brexit campaign group pushing for a no-deal exit from the EU. Hmm

The revelation about Britain’s Future, which has never disclosed the source of its funding or organisational structure,
has raised concerns about the influence of “dark money” in British politics.

The little-known campaign group has spent more than £340,000 on Facebook adverts backing a hard Brexit
since the social network began publishing lists of political advertisers last October,

making it a bigger spender than every UK political party and the government combined.

However, there is no information available about who is ultimately paying for the adverts,
highlighting a key flaw in Facebook’s new political transparency tools.

And in a wonderfully bathetic manner, Storm Gareth is predicted to arrive to herald and accompany the sturm und drang of the various meaningful votes next week

Sostenueto · 09/03/2019 21:43

Thanks as always red.

Wishing you and yours all the best too sos

I still say we should form a commune somewhere nice...

Got any room leclerc or bigchoc 😂

BigChocFrenzy · 09/03/2019 22:07

All the best, sos
but if you aren't fed up with us, we'll still be here in April, even if we Brexit

  • because negotiations after any kind of Brexit will last several years

In fact the only way to shut us all up would be to Revoke 😂 !

Tonsilss · 09/03/2019 22:07

.

Songsofexperience · 09/03/2019 22:09

I think @prettybird has agreed to let a few of us into her back garden? 😀 We have quite a few skills on these threads so I'm all for it 😀

Songsofexperience · 09/03/2019 22:10

I also don't think we should stop these threads after the 29th. We should definitely keep watch...

LonelyandTiredandLow · 09/03/2019 22:13

What you mean no one bought the island? Wink

Not at all surprised dark money is following Leave and ERG lot and am still eagerly awaiting Farage being summoned (IMO possibly the only way to pick up the end of the thread on the funds - if it makes any difference by then).

BigChocFrenzy · 09/03/2019 22:14

chevvy atm, we have rain, winds over 100kph and the Rhine is not very welcoming !

BigChocFrenzy · 09/03/2019 22:16

I'd love the threads to become about general politics instead of Brexit .... because Brexit had been cancelled !

HesterThrale · 09/03/2019 22:18

This is not good... Labour is opposing taking part in the EU elections if we get an extension. As I see it, (if we’re granted one) this would just lead to another cliff edge on July 1st as I reckon we still wouldn’t have agreed a deal by then. And we’d have to leave if we had no new MEPs.

BlackeyedGruesome · 09/03/2019 22:20

So it is a case of waiting til the 12th now? Not much planned before then?

nuttynutjob · 09/03/2019 22:41

PMK...

BigChocFrenzy · 09/03/2019 22:54

Hester Avoiding EP elections is why May didn't wait any longer before invoking A50
because Leavers -especially Tories - would think that holding them means they are going to be "betrayed" by Remaining.

Both May and Corbyn want only short extensions, to avoid having to take part in the EP elections
If both of them aim for short, then that is what we would almost certainly get, if the EU agree

What would change in an extra 2 / 4 / 6 weeks ?
We'd just be faced with the same choice of this WA / Revoke / No Deal

btw, Corbyn never wanted a PV and has only grudgingly agreed now, but a PV would require a long extension - so is this just another way for him to avoid it ?

Hasenstein · 09/03/2019 22:54

I hereby promise that if we Revoke I'll never darken these threads again. I mean, I'd really miss you all, but I'm willing to forego the pleasure for a lovely Revoke.

LonelyandTiredandLow · 09/03/2019 23:00

Hester love this line So why would anyone vote no? Maybe to try to force Theresa May to resign, or maybe because people in British politics have stopped acting rationally. Grin

I have room and can get the kettle on but would request you bring 'English' teabags/tea as it's silly expensive here.
How many are coming?
