Vote 12th March: Meaningful Vote on the Withdrawal Agreement

Vote 13th March: If WA fails, vote on No Deal

Vote 14th March: If WA fails, vote on A50 extension

Not much more to add at this stage that's not repeating what's been said before.

The thing John Rentoul seems to be basing his belief on is that TM has said that we won't brexit without a deal without the HoC having specifically voted to allow that ... which I think means he believes that if no deal is voted down but the W.A keeps failing and and no extension is forthcoming (or a short extension produces nothing but a few more weeks of, well, nothing) then TM will revoke. I think he believes that she has basically promised this - but without saying as much. So it's not a failure to understand that no deal is the default - it is a belief that measures will be taken (revoke) to prevent the default from occurring.

... It must be nice to have such a simplistic, childlike faith in TM to either A) do the sensible thing or B) stand by her own words for more than 30 seconds.

Thanks for the new thread Red

Songs is correct: I have indeed volunteered our back garden for the English and Welsh Westministenders refugees Grin Here's a late February picture of your future home Wink. I'm sure our downstairs' neighbours will also be happy to share the other half (out of picture but a mirror image minus the raised beds).

Just have the slight hurdle of Scottish independence to achieve first though! Wink but we're working on it - but Cox's Codpiece has shown us the way as he is apparent very keen on citizens exercising their ECHR right to self-determination and control over their own legislature Grin

Me please, Leclerc! And I’ll bring my herb garden and as much of my stockpile as I can carry!

Lonely and Bigchoc I suppose I harbour deep in my heart some hopes that rational behaviour might reappear in this country sometime. That maybe the E.U. would grant an extension on the condition that we take part in the elections. And that some sensible pro-EU people are elected, with UKIP decimated. That this would cast a different light on the proceedings, and the rush to leave would be halted.

The only way the hard Brexiteers will stop going on about democracy being thwarted is if there is a trouncing in a referendum, election or the E.U. elections. If it was a resounding pro-EU majority, they’d have to accept the change of heart. They’d probably still complain though.

Vain hopes, I guess.

Red I'd bet that's some dark money funding the front page re No Deal and public approval.

Lovely. I really would like to wake up now. Please.

AwdBovril · 09/03/2019 23:51

I know it's really petty, but I find it really annoying that the government, papers etc. keep referring to "taking No Deal off the table" as if it's a choice the government could actively choose to make. All they need to do for No Deal to happen is to keep on with what they're currently doing, i.e. very little except sniping at each other across the benches, & May to keep on jetting off to Europe every few days to have pointless meetings. It's all a bit late to be trying to sort it out, really. Ineffectual twatting bastards.

I'm getting my yard sorted out, & my windowsills. For growing edibles. This is getting really scary.

RedToothBrush · 10/03/2019 00:11

Oh btw

John Rentoul is just wrong and talking out of his arse.

May will never revoke. It's just a ploy to try and get Brexiteers to support her deal.

The idea thaf it should be taken seriously is laughable, wishful thinking and reading the politics of Brexit very badly indeed.

I know it's really petty, but I find it really annoying that the government, papers etc. keep referring to "taking No Deal off the table" as if it's a choice the government could actively choose to make.

They can actively choose to do it - simply by agreeing that if they have not passed a deal by the time the cliff edge comes (whenever that may be) they will revoke at the last minute.

John Rentoul believes that TM has already said this will happen (or has at least implied it).

John Rentoul is incorrect.

BigChocFrenzy · 10/03/2019 00:21

Rentoul, like some other Remainers, confuses what he wishes May to do, with what she is likely to do

Killing off her WA doesn't kill off Brexit, it just makes No Deal 99% certain
