Vote 12th March: Meaningful Vote on the Withdrawal Agreement

Vote 13th March: If WA fails, vote on No Deal

Vote 14th March: If WA fails, vote on A50 extension

Not much more to add at this stage that's not repeating what's been said before.

SO we've stripped two more IS brides of citizenship apparently. That really shows so much sympathy for a dead baby bot Hmm. It's sickening how low our politics has gone.

At least this BBC story is clear in the first sentence who is pushing for no extension with Brexiteers warning of uncertainty.

bot = boy
I'm trying to soft type as dd asleep next to me.

Thanks bellini - hold off even if doing indoors? My broccoli still look like stretched cress. May need to re-pot or just start again outdoors...
Aubergine seems to have done it's cycle of flowering, turning yellow, dropping 85% of it's leaves and starting again. It's not dead and I'm clutching the pollen covered paintbrush and awaiting another flower... Grin

The thing about intelligence has always fascinated me. Take IQ tests. IMO all they prove is you can do IQ tests because how do you really define intelligence? Intelligence is more than being able to think and do complex puzzles, complicated math, physics, etc. Its no good being the next Einstein if you really don't know how to cook say for instance if there us no one around to do it for you. Being endowed with a super duper computer brain does not necessarily mean you have any ' common sense'. I've known people highly intelligent who can't get to grips with their finances. Known others that simply cannot drive a car or ride a bike. So, my gibberish, illogical take on what intelligence is, is the ability to 'survive' in any scenario and having the skills to do so as 'surviving' is the utmost important thing to be able to do. No good knowing what black holes do when there's a famine is there? Oh I do so love being illogical!

Going to have a bash at growing some veg this year , DS is very keen, DD will eat anything and DH hates all green shit as he refers to it unless it appears in a curry.

Thought I might have a go at building a cold frame, there is a pvc window fitting place near where I work , and I might see if I can take a few of the old wooden ones they have removed off their hands, would glass be ok ?

By the end of the week we could have no deal, no Brexit or no PM
The prime minister faces another big defeat on Tuesday, with ministers predicting she is close to the end. Tim Shipman and Caroline Wheeler report

@LonelyandTiredandLow - I live just below the Pennines in Manchester area. I hold off because there is little room for lots indoors. Pea shoots are good now.

Flowerplower · 10/03/2019 07:25

After suffering through several very bad colds this year when I've smugly had none, DH has grudgingly admitted there might be something to this "eating fruit and vegetables malarky" after all. I often have 10-12 a day but he's made a resolution to try for 5. I've got the veg patch all dug over and have bought my seeds. Next I need to order my nematodes for slug control (I started using nematodes last year, they have changed my life Grin!).

bellinisurge · 10/03/2019 07:26

@frumpety , glass would be fine. Learn about hardening off. Make sure you have a lift up/put down lid. Doesn't have to be a hinge but that's the easiest.

Belgium’s customs authority is advising companies that export to the UK to halt shipments after Brexitt* day
to avoid customs chaos in the event of a no-deal scenario.

Kristian Vanderwaeren, chief executive of Belgian customs, called for a “Brexitpauze” after 29 March and said firms should do as much of their exporting as they can before new controls have to come in.

My “garden” is a slope of largely undifferentiated hillside, very clayey, that I have roughly cleared of scrub and planted some trees - really not suitable for cultivation. I have a north facing balcony that is in shade for the winter months but is too hot to sit out on in the middle of the day in the summer, I could replace the geraniums I normally grow there with some salad stuff I suppose but from experience I know my fingers are the opposite of green.
I have stocked up on multivitamins instead.

RedToothBrush · 10/03/2019 07:37

The Telegraph say 44% of people support no deal.

This is rather different to the Mail:
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6790819/Three-four-Leave-voters-say-MPs-stop-focusing-issues-like-backstop.html
MPs should 'stop focusing on issues like the backstop' and vote for Theresa May's Brexit deal, leaked poll reveals

Thus they 'don't care' about the backstop.

frumpety Depending on glazing costs you may find Aldi's cold frame handy?

The EU is 'strangling innovation' and trying to wreck UK-US relations, claims Donald Trump's 'man in London'

Donald Trump’s ‘man in London’ today launches an extraordinary broadside against the European Union for ‘strangling innovation’ and attempting to wreck UK and US relations.

Interesting timing...

And I’m still amazed at the lack of alarm that seems to be prevalent generally. Everyone I know is stockpiling, but otherwise people are blithely going about their business as though nothing is wrong. There’s a thread on here with someone concerned about a holiday in Europe in the summer, travelling when 33 weeks pregnant. The only warning she has had is to wear loose clothing when boarding the ferry in case of jobsworths.

Theresa May's allies fear Ides of March: PM's Praetorian Guard believe she may have to offer to quit in return for votes for her Brexit deal as she faces a second Commons defeat

This is similar to The Times article by Tim Shipman which suggested May could be gone by the end of the week

Trump’s man “no-charm” Johnson (how I love Farming Today).

QueenOfThorns · 10/03/2019 07:44

Hi bellini, I live not too far from you. When would you suggest that I plant carrot seeds outside? I have started quite a lot of things off already, but have a decent amount of inside space.

LonelyandTiredandLow · 10/03/2019 07:46

Thanks bellini.
That pg lady is exactly the kind of thing that will end badly. I am amazed our Govt is being so useless at warning/preparing us for reality. May is so blinkered about getting her deal through she won't entertain the idea it won't, which disadvantages the populace. I honestly wonder if she won't be arrested for gross negligence when people suffer - you'd think govt led leaflets or websites advising people would be springing up about planting veg/what to do if rubbish isn't collected/having extra food in/not travelling if pg, etc. Other countries are warning businesses who will be affected (we don't seem to be doing that either) but we haven't even got the basic public comprehension of what is about to happen Sad

BigChocFrenzy · 10/03/2019 07:53

Feelz trumps science again - for MPs

If they believe this, then they should have no problem approving the WA, since the magical tech solution means the backstop would not be needed

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-47497836

A technical solution to the Irish border Brexit issue is possible, a majority of MPs on the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee have concluded.

They also believe that a system could be "designed, trialled and piloted" in under two years.

You are a biological woman. Don't be stupid. You've got no chance.

OP posts:
BigChocFrenzy · 10/03/2019 08:00

imo, only about 30% chance of serious short term problems like shortages of essential items or holiday disruption,
that UK & EU contigency plans won't fix.

BUT, 99% chance that the economy will be significantly damaged for 2 decades; there will be many business bankruptcies and the country will not recover this lost ground.

LonelyandTiredandLow · 10/03/2019 08:00

But..Crufts!. Surely BREXIT can't afford CRUFTS?

BigChocFrenzy · 10/03/2019 08:01

Yep, biological woman and 62;
my feelz say I'll be champ, so it'll happen
