I'm in France, and the reaction around me (with the exception of a few colleagues who are specialists in British politics/culture) is a combination of a "bof"-style Gallic shrug as they wryly observe the total shambles in the UK and increasing irritation at the duration of the chaos and at the uncertainty it is creating in many areas. Or total indifference, TBH.
The only pro-Brexit people I have ever encountered here are extreme right wingers. The French experience of Occupation and all it entailed (my French ex-FIL was a Résistance member who was lucky enough to still be alive (just) when the concentration camp he was in was liberated) means that while people may agree the EU is not perfect, most are far too aware of the advantages of peace in post-WW2 Europe to think that even contemplating leaving the EU is a viable option.
Yes, the UK is embarrassing itself.
