What will happen now?

OP posts:
Wotev · 16/01/2019 09:05

Well I'm sorry that you're not willing to say it, but do you not notice a trend?

StealthPolarBear · 16/01/2019 09:08

So her trend is british. Different from yours.

I am shocked that there are now two people in this thread who have been subject to so much violent crime. Bloody hell :(

But how is that related to EU immigration? These people were English.

twofingerstoEverything · 16/01/2019 09:13

I should correct what I posted. 100% of people in construction THAT I KNOW voted to leave.
Well, there you go then. It must be true because anecdata.

Peregrina · 16/01/2019 09:14

Why? Because we end up with no deal? Great. Thanks a bunch Gina.

No, I think May would have decreed that the WA was passed.

KennDodd · 16/01/2019 09:15

When I was being violently mugged in the street one time, two young (late teens early 20s?) black hoodies also came running to my aid. Exactly the sort of people most demonised. Mugger ran off, they waited with me and looked after me until the police came. I was also put back together with the utmost kindness by a black nurse on another occasion. I never really got to thank any of them, I hope they could see that I was grateful. I lived in a very poor black neighbourhood for many, many years. Most of the time it was great, people were lovely.

Oblomov19 · 16/01/2019 09:18

What a mess. No TM fan here. But I can't see that replacing her as PM is going to help. With whom? Who is going to do a better job, in the circumstances?

Moussemoose · 16/01/2019 09:18

Can you see how making a sweeping comment "they couldn't lie straight in the bed" about one group of people based on their nationality might possibly be classed as some form of racism?

Also, if the people you are talking about are criminals do you think making it illegal to come into the U.K. would stop them? If they are criminals here to commit crimes breaking the law to enter the country isn't going to stop them is it?

Eatmycheese · 16/01/2019 09:18

Wanting to leave the EU will not stop women having these experiences, or knife crime.
It will also not deal with the issues people have with immigration in general since last time I checked there are quite a few countries outside the EU
And what do you think is going to happen to all the immigrants that have already settled here? Or continuing to arrive?

I think is it reprehensible that Cameron used the Referendum as a vehicle to mobilise and then exploit this viewpoint. I think it is very worrying that people have been so easily led up this particular garden path.

KennDodd · 16/01/2019 09:18

I also grew up in a very poor white neighbourhood, level of crime was very similar to the black neighbourhood except it was committed by white English people (men).

Wotev · 16/01/2019 09:19

Actually one thing I've noticed in London is that a lot of black people feel disenfranchised from other citizens. You can't open your mouth but they feel that you're attacking them. Why do they feel that? If half of society is feeling disenfranchised, what are we doing wrong? Why do they feel like that? Again, from my own experiences, black people in London don't feel happy. They feel unhappy and bullied. I know they lash out and shit, but I would too. So maybe there is suspicion. Have they not integrated? Are we to blame? Is their culture to blame? I have more questions than I have answers. As ever. I often wonder about MN as it seems predominately white British. But every now and again you get someone black who takes offence to something said. I've posted earlier, my dd is mixed race so half black. But honestly where she is (boarding school) there is no racism. She's very popular. But she maybe has 'white' privilege in terms of a good education etc. Ok, I'm talking myself in circles now. Ok focus. Brexit!!!! No deal. Focus!

BertrandRussell · 16/01/2019 09:23

“You're not negating everything I say by giving your own made up stories”

Interesting that you assume any positive story about immigrants must be made up but you’re not even a tiny bit racist!

StealthPolarBear · 16/01/2019 09:24

Ken I thought your bracket said 'me' for a second there... Had to reread!
Agree the common factor is men.

Wotev · 16/01/2019 09:27

Ok, I've been declared racist. Doesn't surprise me. And you wonder why Leave voters won't discuss their reasons.

I'M A BIG FAT RACIST!!! WOOOHOOO.

DangermousesSidekick · 16/01/2019 09:28

Can I point out Wotev that some of those nationalities on your list were non-EU and will still be here in the event of leaving the EU, in fact there will probably be more of them. I'm sorry for your troubles.

As far as I know no one from a lower class background in Britain is happy with the British system right now and everyone tries to find loopholes. The biggest crooks are at the top.

CoffeeMilkNoSugar · 16/01/2019 09:29

I'm a dirty immigrant who obviously came here to steal your jobs and benefits and whatnot.

The dude who sexually assaulted me was white British.
The yobs who burgled my house were white British.
The idiots who shouted obscenities at me in the street were, you guessed it, white British.
The violent boyfriend I was unfortunate enough to have was... white British.

And oddly enough, never do I feel more safe and respected than when I'm around my Nigerian/Ghanaian/Cameroonian friends.

So there.

surferjet · 16/01/2019 09:29

Wotev

I grew up in London too ( still live there )
Even back in the 80’s, 99% of stabbings / muggings we’re committed by young black men - nothing much has changed.
Gang culture?
No hope?
No decent male role models?

Who knows. The black communities work so hard to try & find an answer but nothing ever seems to change, if anything it’s getting worse.

Why don't you fuck off, sunshine? :)

Wotev · 16/01/2019 09:36

Ok..........

Moussemoose · 16/01/2019 09:37

Who called you racist @Wotev?

BertrandRussell · 16/01/2019 09:40

I certainly suggested that there might be a bit of racism in Wotev’s world view......
What with her “can’t lie straight in the bed” comment and her refusal to believe any positive stories about immigrants.....
