We are STILL on collision course for no deal.

Christmas is here, and whilst we might appreciate the respite from Brexit News, its really a luxury we can't afford.

The meaningful vote is scheduled for January.

Chaos is scheduled for shortly after.

I wish you all a happy and enjoyable Christmas.

Thanks @RedToothBrush perhaps Christmas will give everybody 5 minutes to actually think about what they're doing, although I fully appreciate that time is shorter than short!

Had a brief weekend away - two days without talking about Brexit, and not posting until I got home this lunchtime.

turnipsaretheonlyveg · 17/12/2018 23:21

We can only hope for a little sober reflection.
I fear we may not get it.

Think how many Christmas family get togethers Brexit will ruin? Or how many won't happen at all.

wherearemychickens · 17/12/2018 23:28

I can't even with the Penny Mordaunt 'glidepath'.

Donnnerbox · 17/12/2018 23:30

Still unsure about whether my family is better or worse off being in Scotland as against England post Brexit.

The DUP will vote against the Govt when they want to make a point, but not when their jobs might be on the line. (i.e. vote of NC leading to election.)
Two DUP MPs have majorities of only 2,000 (Nigel Dodds and Emma Little-Pengelly). And Paul Girvan only has one of 3,000.

They could be reduced in number after an election, and not only that, but lose their extraordinary and pivotal position of power.

wherearemychickens · 17/12/2018 23:34

That depends on where in England, and how secure your jobs are surely?

Sam Lowe had a 'where are the cows?' theory as far as regional economic modelling went. If you live in an area with cows, you'll be worse affected.

Sorry, that was to Donnerbox!

lonelyplanetmum · 17/12/2018 23:45

Happy Christmas to you too Red. Where will we be in 🎄2019 I wonder.

GD12 · 17/12/2018 23:47

I saw a post on Twitter saying the MAS370 glydepath. Seems apt.

Hazardswan · 17/12/2018 23:49

It'll be the two of us this Christmas. Any leave family members will be visited and gifted prior to the 25th. (I'll be on my own visiting).

I am welcome to any suitable excuses to not go however.... between Brexit see i told you nothing bad will happen or why is it taking so long? or Ireland can cope with a border whats the fuss? or I trust May and has DP got better yet? No? Why? Have you tried seeing a better doctor? Why not? Do the meds not work? Has he tried positive thinking? Eating superfoods? Is there a cure? Good bateria yogurts? German doctors know a thing or two. I dont think I can take it!

(And yes ppl who vote Leave also think German doctors are better yet they don't want them here?? Hmm I lose the logic.. )

Anyway excuses welcome!

Ta red may your days be merry and bright Star

PMK on page 1 for once [defiant]

Just like the UK: First in the queue to leave - followed by absolutely nobody.

Managed to have a reasonable chat with my Lexiter friend. I respect her approach and views. And I'm not seeing my Faragist uncle this Christmas - a little gift to myself.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 17/12/2018 23:51

No deal more likely than ever.

Merry fucking Christmas. Xmas Angry

RedToothBrush · 17/12/2018 23:53

Can't you make an excuse along the lines of not being able to have a meaningful meeting whilst Brexit was happening and so you need to delay the meeting until such time you agree.

right with you there Mrsr8 - blunt rather than witty. But honest.

Hazardswan · 18/12/2018 00:30

so sorry I can't meaningfully meet up due to the fact I am at stalemate on whether you should fuck off or not

I would ghost em but then they turn up without calling first.

Donnnerbox · 18/12/2018 00:38

Oh dear - there are loads of cows and sheep where we are.

mathanxiety · 18/12/2018 02:58

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/mar/25/brexit-ireland-troubles-border-sunday-essay

An interesting article on:
(1) NI, history and the present;
(2) The DUP and Unionist political culture;
(3) The political dynamic between the DUP and Westminster;
(4) What a small world it really is.

A long read.

BigChocFrenzy · 18/12/2018 05:17

Thanks, red Happy bloody Christmas to us all
