We are STILL on collision course for no deal.

Christmas is here, and whilst we might appreciate the respite from Brexit News, its really a luxury we can't afford.

The meaningful vote is scheduled for January.

Chaos is scheduled for shortly after.

I wish you all a happy and enjoyable Christmas.

The UK managed No Deal is that the EU helps it to avoid the worst

The EU managed No Deal is that it unilaterally continues a few areas that it comsiders useful for a few months and stops them when it no longer does,
all without any consideration of UK interests

Big difference in what happens to the country jumping off the cliff !

BigChocFrenzy · 18/12/2018 13:17

The EU is saying that it will only consider its own interests if there is No Deal

howabout · 18/12/2018 13:20

Same thing Bigchoc as the EU and UK have mutually beneficial trading relationship.

BigChocFrenzy · 18/12/2018 13:27

No, not the same thing ata ll

The UK needs cooperation from the EU in a huge number of areas, to soften its fall down the cliff

The EU will only act in those few areas it needs and only for as long as it needs them
That's not negotiating; it's totally one-sided

The UK is the only EU country frantically trying to prep essential supplies of food, medicines, chemicals for water purification.
The only country trying to prep for all its international flights, shipping, nuclear medicine, nuclear fuel, Galileo etc

Very clear which country would be in a desperate position

BigChocFrenzy · 18/12/2018 13:28

Noone

BigChocFrenzy · 18/12/2018 13:29

It's one thing to support Brexit fervently, quite another to shut your eyes to the consequences and go la-la-la

Fintan O'Toole Retweeted Eddie Marsan@eddiemarsan

Brexiteers to the left & right are shoving this country towards a hard Brexit & you know what will happen?
People’s lives will be destroyed, hedge fund managers will make a fortune, Ken Loach will make a film about how awful it is
& Corbyn will tell us all to go and fucking see it

The Americans are laughing at us. (Quite a funny sketch.) The Americans who have Trump as president are laughing at us...I need to repeat this a lot to get it to sink in.

There's no point sorting out the planes and flying post brexit it'll be to cringe to see non Brits.

Cabinet no deal talks third on the BBC1 lunchtime news after new recycling proposals and Jose Mourinho. Programme ends by mentioning while they’ve been on air the cabinet have agreed to stop up no deal prepping and have said that businesses should prepare ‘as they see fit’. As they see fit? What sort of useless feckin advice is that? Angry

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 18/12/2018 13:46

Step up - not stop up!

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 18/12/2018 13:47

Interesting slip of the tongue from Andrea Loathsome ‘if we don’t vote for a deal then the default position is no Brexit - er - no deal!’

Hazardswan · 18/12/2018 13:48

Just watching itv brexit step up just finished.

The dude talking about recycling earlier said between brexit and the costs of the new proposal for rubbish its a bad time for business. Newsreader didnt look happy he mentioned brexit.

icannotremember · 18/12/2018 14:05

I really hope this is all gamesmanship and just TM's way of trying to terrify the HoC into voting for her deal... but I suspect we really are governed by idiots who will take us into a crash out, no deal brexit. And if that happens I hope that leavers bear the brunt of it. I won't forgive them for this.

BigChocFrenzy · 18/12/2018 14:11

Matthew O'Toole Retweeted Allie Renison@AllieRenison

Surprised by this recent enthusiasm amongst some Leavers for "managed no deal" considering how much of the 'managed' rests on begging EU for last minute side deals

BigChocFrenzy · 18/12/2018 14:13

I expect the EU will give the Uk all the necessary minideals it needs to stay afloat - once the UK has signed text confirming the Ni backstop, expat rights and the exit bill

Oh it's OK, phew etc, 3,500 armed forces will be on standby. No need to panic.

Meanwhile, any news from the Opposition?

bellinisurge · 18/12/2018 14:18

BBC news at 2.00 was a bit more focused on No Deal although it did trot out it's usual bollocks that "some people say it's not necessary to stock up". Yes, some people are irresponsible dickheads, so why give them any reference on national news?

icannotremember · 18/12/2018 14:23

Oh, balanced coverage now means "idiocy must be given equal airtime and respect', didn't you know? Hmm

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 18/12/2018 14:26

On managed no deal, David Gauke described it as a unicorn than needed to be slaughtered today.

GD12 · 18/12/2018 14:29

I can't work out whether this no deal "ramp up" is a tactic to get her deal through or not. Whatever, it's highly, highly irresponsible. It shouldn't even be on the table. It's an absolute disgrace.

bellinisurge · 18/12/2018 14:34

According to Sky News, they are going to send out info to the general public about No Deal. But "not on Christmas Day".
Hope all those who whinged about the government sending out Remain info before the referendum are looking forward to seeing it.
Meanwhile, another almost hourly plea from me to encourage people to head over to the Prepper for sensible budget friendly advice.

bellinisurge · 18/12/2018 14:35

Prepper Topic, that should read.Grin
