There's a deal.

The press are over excited.

May has united the country.

Everyone hates it.
(Apart from David Allen Green)

Parliament might yet reject it.

Nothing is yet decided and everything is still to be sorted.

The BBC must be in meltdown - rushing around trying to find remainers to bully on air (although it's a bit late for "Today")

ElenadeClermont · 15/11/2018 10:23

They said she resigned the last time. metro.co.uk/2018/07/09/junior-brexit-minister-suella-braveman-not-quit-david-davis-despite-reports-7694229/

DGRossetti · 15/11/2018 10:23

Anne Marie Trevelyan gone. Didn't know she was a minister.

+1

Grin

The old joke about war teaching the US geography sprang to mind ....

Mistigri · 15/11/2018 10:24

I just went out to get my haircut and missed about 2 year's worth of political drama.

How many ministers are we down the morning?

RedToothBrush · 15/11/2018 10:24

Laura Kuenssberg@bbclaurak
Michael Gove's team won't comment this morning

Michael Gove's team

His Ministerial team ? Or his political team ?

(Just remembered it's the final series of Veep soon ...)

RedToothBrush · 15/11/2018 10:25

Reuters are apparently reporting that 48 letters have been issued, but looking for an official / reliable source on this. I haven't seen a reuters tweet myself.

It's like being on the Titanic.

RedToothBrush · 15/11/2018 10:26

Sam Coates Times @SamCoatesTimes

💥💥

Team Gove tell me they will not give any guidance on his future at this time. Asked if he is resigning, I was told "no comment".

No is a simple and easy answer. Its not no.

{Two wheels off bus. Driver in dire straits}
Didn't know Dire Straits was in the government.
Still we had 'money for nothing' and 'twisting by the pool'.

RedToothBrush · 15/11/2018 10:28

Alex Wickham @alexwickham
Anne Marie Trevalyan quits ministerial aide role

PPS to Education or something.

That Rory Stewart interview was a pure Comical Ali moment where he says there are no tanks in Baghdad.

I don't think @woman11017 blames all men for the creeping fascism. But unless we acknowledge the macho culture that has fomented the self-righteous belief in exceptionalism and abuse of power over others, then we can't address it. Sad

The fact that many of the people at the "top" are women at the moment doesn't mean it is not indicative of a macho culture Confused - it's just that (some of) those women have bought into that culture Hmm

The anti-semitism in the Labour Party is another example of people in power refusing to acknowledge that the victims might have a more valid opinion than those who were responsible - whether consciously or unconsciously - for either encouraging (at worst) or ignoring (at best) the unacceptable behaviour. Angry

It's an abuse of power. And in the majority of cases, abuse of power is a male thing - brought on by a society which still accepts male "power" attributes of "strength" and "decisiveness" as positive attributes that need no safeguards Hmm

My brain is hurting trying to explain myself Wink

DGRossetti · 15/11/2018 10:30

Didn't know Dire Straits was in the government

(going OT ..)

Odd how DS haven't survived as much as other beat combos of the age, considering how enormous they were 85-86. By which I mean it's incredibly rare to hear a DS song - even on classic rock stations.

lonelyplanetmum · 15/11/2018 10:30

Running total :

Dominic Raab, Brexsec
Shailesh Vara, Northern Ireland minister
Esther McVey work and pensions
Suella Braverman, a minister at the DexEU
Anne-Marie Trevelyan- parliamentary private secretary in the Department for Education

It's like jumping out of an aircraft without a parachute and trying to think of a plan on the way down.

DGRossetti · 15/11/2018 10:32

I wonder if they could have resigned so their initials spelled "fuck off" ?

RedToothBrush · 15/11/2018 10:32

David Allen Green @davidallengreen
Not a single UK politician who has so far resigned over the draft withdrawal agreement can have read and properly digested it in the time available.

Michael Gove is currently not on the front bench for PM’s statement. Jeremy Hunt and Sajid Javid are though.

I would expect most if not all of the Cabinet members who did not support the Deal last night will go. Anyone know how many that was?

Anyway if May is quick on her feet, remains calm this could be an opportunity for a clear out of mad Brexiteers and replace them with moderates or Remainers. I think, but I'm punch drunk now.

Difficult days for May. But the alternatives are also very difficult.

SusanWalker · 15/11/2018 10:33

I'm really not going to get anything done today am I?
