Westministenders: Talks Walk Out?

We are now on the countdown to whether we get a backstop Withdrawal Deal. May is hoping to get the EU to backdown on this saying that we will stay in the customs union until a deal is agreed on NI. That would mean come 29th March, we'd have no transistion period, but we'd still have a hard border in NI because we were out of the single market. And if the EU don't agree to it we are into the chances of accidental Brexit being sky high. The only way out would be revoking a50. May has hinted that if Tory MPs don't give her support we could end up with no brexit at all - whether she means revoking a50 or Beano isn't clear.

So onward to 18th October...

Wine to no Brexit! (Thanks Red)

Icantreachthepretzels · 03/10/2018 22:58

Thanks Red - and I hope you feel better soon Flowers

Farage seems a bit rattled. He has given 2 instructions to 'the people' telling us how to stop a betrayal of brexit (ignoring the half of 'the people' who don't want it).
Instruction numero uno - write to your mp to tell them you will not accept a soft brexit.
Numero the second - prepare for 'another' political revolution.

So that's nice and clear Hmm and we all know that writing to your mp works so well - even if your motivated and literate enough to do so.

Poor you red get well soon.

What do people think Boris Johnson is up to. Seems like he’s been upstaged by May.

I hope Bjorn and Benny sue her and get a nice hefty amount in compensation.

I would dearly love to see Brexit cancelled, but I think we will have to be absolutely on the edge of the cliff and just hanging on by a fingertip before someone pulls us back. It has to be seen to have failed, and to take down Johnson, Fox, Davis, Grease Smug, Deadwood Redwood and all the other horrors who inhabit the right wing of the Tory party.

But slightly more positive, the friend who was saying 'we managed before' was now saying, that the uncertainty is worrying. A small step in the right direction, I think.

BigChocFrenzy · 04/10/2018 00:29

Love the Heaven 17 ref in this thread.

lonelyplanetmum · 04/10/2018 06:23

Thank you Red, and a speedy recovery.

We don't need a fascist groove thing, although TM's appearance on strictly, post her retirement would be weirdly compelling. You'd be a far better 💃 👑.

I think this petition is new. Worth supporting because:

  1. It's about the real effect on the NHS.
  1. It's a cross party initiative and we need more of.those, and fast.

Gargle gin Red , I have no scientific evidence whatsoever that it helps with colds, but it makes you feel better Smile

My one Leave voting colleague, who has kept up the “it will be all right” pretence up until now, joined in enthusiastically yesterday when other colleagues and I were discussing how badly things are going, and what can be done to try to stop it. We usually change the subject when he’s around, so this was quite interesting. I have a strong feeling that the tide is finally starting to turn. Also, quite a few people have asked me privately about the march on the 20th after I posted it on social media.

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 04/10/2018 07:52

Thanks red. Hope you delurgy soon. I've come down with it too, and its currently the last thing I need sobs into coffee

Anyone care to put up a list of other ridiculous actions the UK gov might take over the next couple of weeks?
We have insults to the EU (generally and specifically).
Threats to Russia.
Enabled the possibility undemocratically changing laws 'at will' (dug up the Henry V111 act).
Maybe present it as a 'tick list' we can print and stick on the fridge?

Peregrina · 04/10/2018 08:27

There is something nasty going round, DH is on his third week of it. For me, I like hot toddies of honey, lemon and a nip of brandy. I don't suppose it really does anything, but it tastes good.

RedToothBrush · 04/10/2018 08:36

A bout of Spanish flu would put pay to protests. Just saying we are overdue a flu epidemic and to have one on top of all the other shit would be typical.

Going back to sone thing said last night by durgha in response to MyBrexit about fracking being held back in Scotland.

That statement needs to be amended to: "Fracking is being held back in Scotland for now " Angry

The powers that are holding it back are amongst the powers that have been grabbed taken back by Westminster in the Withdrawal Bill Angry (the one that triggered the "stunt" of the SNP walkout after not a single Scottish MP was allowed to speak when that particular clause was being debated before it was voted on Angry)

🐟🎣👑 Place Mat King. Thanks for the new thread Red

Icantreachthepretzels · 04/10/2018 08:55

signed lonelyplanet - I hope support for it picks up.

Courtesy of Larry the Cat on Twitter

"Friday night and the pound is low
Worried about how Brexit will go
Where to place the new border
Screw up everything?
We’ll turn to anything

Boris thinks he could be that guy
Brains are low and the ego’s high
Speak a bit of Latin
Lie: everything is fine
He just wants to be PM"

I am in a permanent state of rage. Bloody Brexit and a broken ankle. 😨

Violetparis · 04/10/2018 09:11

When does Parliament vote on the deal ? Is it in the next few weeks or later on ?
