After disaster after Salzberg and a very predictable humilation over the Chequers Deal which the ERG reject, moderate Brexiteers reject, Remainers reject and the EU reject....

May does a press conference...

...which is delayed by a power shortage inside No. 10.

And....

Boris cares only for Boris and stands up for no one but Boris. This is a massive boon for him.

SamPotatoes · 21/09/2018 18:40

I've been trying to convince people in my organisation to think about the implications of Brexit. Today they started listening to me. Our contingency plans for no deal are being discussed next week.

That speech has put the wind up a lot of people.

woman11017 · 21/09/2018 18:41

Sneaked out at 18.38 on Friday evening after May's latest unfortunate 'episode'. Not suspicious at all.

I remember rule of law.

Windrush generation members to be refused UK citizenship, government announces

Critics say it is 'scandalous that Home Office should subject the Windrush generation to conditions that other British citizens are not

I agree with Peregina. The Tories won't be wiped out for a generation. This is because Labour is also trying to deal with its own divisions. As it stands it can only gain power by playing a game of both siderism with various grouping over particular divisive issues.

If they get into power they will be forced to show their hand on these issues and in the process will commit 'a great betrayal'.

The Lib Dems know all about 'great betrayals'.

The point is that these issues are still there. Brexit isn't THE issue to a lot of people. And people don't necessarily make correct connections between issues and their causes.

Woman, I'd take that as a threat to EU citizens DESPITE what May said this afternoon. Deliberately so.

May is saying, these are still bargaining chips but I'm playing the good guy to a British audience whilst I put the EU in a position where they have to treat May's offer to EU citzs with the skepticism it deserves. Thus setting up the EU to look like the bad guys.

This also sells a lot of British expats completely down river.

Workers who are valuable to EU countries will be OK. But pensioners who are a drain... They should be worried.

Robert Peston @peston
That @theresa_may statement in full: EU was rude to me and the UK; I am angry; I don’t understand why they don’t like #ChequersPlan and why they want border in Irish Sea

You can just feel how hard Peston tried to keep it polite whilst also wanting to call May a petulant ignorant toddler at the same time.

No advice red Smile Pizza time?
Justine Greening on Channel 4 news just confirmed what we know, Parliament is utterly impotent to stop no deal.

RedToothBrush · 21/09/2018 19:28

I've just had home made curry.

I live in a land where pizza delivery is non existant. The nearest co-op is over a mile away and I have toddler and am currently over the limit to drive.

DH is texting me picture of the unlimited free booze.

Sophie Ellis Bexter is on my TV box, making me want to stab things with her annoyingness.

There's no gin in the cupboard. There is vodka and alsorted colourful spirits.

I'm still pondering over the fact that young ukippers think they can get laid and that they won't send a women screaming from the room at the sight of a 'Nige'.

Sorry, I don't understand. How does that work?

It means, I do not live somewhere which is in the radius of a pizza delivery.

Yes really. Such places exist.

The uk is a diverse place. With some places lacking pizza coverage like other places lack 4G coverage.

I can however get curry. Or thai. Or chinese. But not pizza.

Interesting. A senior Government source tells me they think Theresa May's popularity will now rise because the British public will want to support her after the disrespectful way she has been treated by Brussels.

Parallel dimension.

I have a friend who lives somewhere where you literally cannot get a takeaway of any description.

And it's not even that remote.

Scary place indeed!

Hazardswan · 21/09/2018 19:55

popularity will now rise

Fuck that and a falling pound.

Unless they mean rise up like a zombie. I could believe she could be a zombie - see the way she moves? Zombie.

Watched clips of the speech she didn't come across as likeable or competent.

woman11017 · 21/09/2018 19:58

I was being facetious. Would love to live somewhere away from pizza deliveries. But most of all, away from this brexitty thingy.

Parallel dimension And Nick Timothy's earnt his crust today.

RedToothBrush · 21/09/2018 20:05

You can still do a pretty epic pub crawl round here. And fortunately you can do so by card as the cash machines have all gone. Everyone is like the Queen these days and never has cash. We'll starve if there is power cuts post Brexit.

Its either that or we'll get over run by all the mauraundering leavers in surrounding settlements come to steal our massive hoards of none existant stockpiles.

Last time I went to Sheffield it was a culture shock. They still have cash on public transport. And conductors. I mean, wtf is that about?!!!

I suppose having pizza delivery and cash in Sheffield means they will live longer in Apocalyptic Brexitland.

No one here will find their way to the local farms surrounding us - not without sat nav to find stuff.

(Rambles incoherently about where is best to survive next April and what contingency plans we need to think about)

10 miles to any food or drink for me. It's called planning and a fridge.

Peregrina · 21/09/2018 20:50

For some people, yes it will. DH knew some women who both said 'Theresa's doing a good job.' This was before her 2017 election and he hasn't seen them since to ask whether they still think the same.

woman11017 · 21/09/2018 20:51

Who wonders what Labour's reply to CCHQ was yesterday on the People's Vote?
Did the answer give succour to May's crew today?
Still a silence from Labour tonight.

J. Patrick is predicting the next election will be 2022, for 600 seats, if we are allowed one.

Missed this from a few days ago. Jennifer Williams just tweeted it.

Jennifer Williams @jenwilliamsMEN
The bit about sajid javid here has been bothering me for a few days. It was the second half of a downpage story in the times, but find it odd it hasn’t been picked up more. Javid wants to suspend workers rights immediately if there’s no deal?

If it was picked up more then apologies, but I can’t see it. This guy wants to be PM

Sorry also the other thing about this (I’ll stop in a minute) is where was Labour? I’m not on the national Labour press release list - gave up on that battle ages ago - so may have missed it but workers rights would seem an obvious thing to pick up on

If you can't read its talk of a suspension of environmental regulations, workers rights and auto enrolment of work place pensions.

Important this one isn't missed as clearly Labour aren't interested in it...
