Only 1 rule.
No c&p posts a mile long, they’re just boring & no one reads them.
Keep it short, sweet, & to the point.

My first thought is this is clearly not Brexit related issue, just pure coincidence, as surely similar luxury car makers in Germany are also on 3 day weeks.....not!

We need to wake up before it is too late, JLR have been a real success story, with global sales on the rise, esp china ...so EU membership hasn't held them back! so why are we putting this at risk?

Buteo · 17/09/2018 14:43

tourism is around 11% of spanish gdp ~20% of that is down to uk tourism - ie ~2.5% spanish gdp

It's less than that I think - tourism in total accounts for about 15% of Spanish GDP, 56% of that is foreign visitor spending, of which the UK accounts for about 18%. So that's about 1.5% GDP.

JWIM · 17/09/2018 14:50

So Surfer I imagine you would like to revisit your suggestion that fewer British tourists to Spain would result in a near collapse of the Spanish economy, or even the Spanish tourism economy. If not, why not?

It is instructive to look at what TATA, the owner of JLR has in it's range of activities. It could simply shut JLR in the UK completely without hardly blinking.
Cup of nice Tetley's (TATA) tea anyone?

jasjas1973 · 17/09/2018 17:01

I think we may get "We won/Project fear 2"

London has also just lost its no1 financial ranking to NY, with European & Asian centres making significant gains.

1tisILeClerc · 17/09/2018 17:48

Even Wallace and Grommit on their well organised trip to the moon remembered to take crackers with them. Obviously true professionals!

lljkk · 17/09/2018 17:57

I can't get my head around the BeLeaver simultaneous messages:

"Spain needs our tourists too much to give us a bad deal!"
"Germany needs to sell us cars too much to give us a bad deal!"
(but)
"EU will never give us a good deal because they want to punish us!"

I mean.. which is it?

frumpety · 17/09/2018 20:37

lljkk I don't honestly think it matters, the UK is blundering headlong towards a no deal which it is completely and wholly unprepared for, if that does indeed happen I think the people who got us into such a mess should be seen as traitors to these -always- sovereign islands.

However I am still of the mindset that Brexit, soft, hard or whatever will not actually happen.

frumpety · 17/09/2018 20:43

-bugger-

frumpety · 17/09/2018 20:43

Love your optimism lol!

frumpety · 17/09/2018 20:47

That's me, optimistic , glass half full ( always) but unable to for some reason to utilise the strikethrough option on MN Smile

golondrina · 17/09/2018 20:51

Use two dashes either side of the word, followed by the word with no spaces and then two dashes. like this--

frumpety · 17/09/2018 20:59

tit

frumpety · 17/09/2018 21:00

Yeah ! thank you golondrina , I have discovered I need to wear my spectacles when MNetting ancient

Hazardswan · 17/09/2018 21:02

Yes frumpety ! Loving your optimism and your strike through success Smile

golondrina · 17/09/2018 21:13

Yay!

Buteo · 17/09/2018 21:14

Strike through doesn’t work on the mobile site on my phone any more - it turns two hyphens into an em dash Sad

—bugger—

frumpety · 17/09/2018 21:18

I simply cannot believe that 1450 people if you add the MP's in the House of Commons and the Lords together , would, if they were to abide by their conscience, allow the wanton destruction of this nation.

Buteo · 17/09/2018 21:18

Ah, found a new way - just click on the styling menu and then on the strike through option.

yippee

littlebillie · 17/09/2018 21:21

I've just read the latest on BBC website I want a large gin and no tonic 😩

frumpety · 17/09/2018 21:29
frumpety · 17/09/2018 21:32

Gin, a large gin, just in case the filthy minded amongst you misconstrued that last post Grin

frumpety · 17/09/2018 21:46

66.57 million peoples futures are in the hands of 1450 people, quite scary when you do the maths isn't it ?

time4chocolate · 17/09/2018 22:28
