Only 1 rule.
No c&p posts a mile long, they’re just boring & no one reads them.
Keep it short, sweet, & to the point.

None of us can retire to Spain now thanks to you surfer.

And the inflatable banana boat businesses will tank in Spain but other than that Spain shall survive without us.

But obviously Brexit will be cancelled and you'll have egg in your face.

surferjet · 16/09/2018 20:30

And can you stop referring to UK holiday makers as ‘larger louts’ - is anyone who goes on a cheap package tour to Spain an alcoholic?
Confused

OP posts:
Anasnake · 16/09/2018 20:32

It's 'lager' surfer.

Anasnake · 16/09/2018 20:32

Unless you're presuming that they're all obese Hmm ?

Hazardswan · 16/09/2018 20:37

As someone who previously had a life and went to Spain....I DRANK a LOT while I was there and reinforced the brit abroad stereotype. However I don't look British so I actually looked like a very floozey central European alcoholic.

So yes many Brits who have cheap package holidays look like alcoholics...I also got drunk and loud on a plane Grin

Nothing wrong with being a larger lout brit abroad surfer it's great fun!

jasjas1973 · 16/09/2018 20:38

Yeah they are.

"English people in Barcelona have a bad reputation. Generally because the average resident of Barcelona sees the English as a bunch of thick football hooligans who drink like it’s a sport and don’t tan well"

There you are leavers.
This is what other EU countries think of us.
Aren’t you glad you voted to leave. Smile

Anasnake

Sorry about typos I’m doing 3 things at once.

Your glad we're leaving, cutting off med supplies and harming our own because we have the reputation in Spain that we deserve?

Bonkers.

Peregrina · 16/09/2018 20:49

DH certainly qualifies as a larger visitor to Spain, much to his annoyance. Me less so, although I wouldn't mind losing a few lbs, or since I am a Remainer a couple of kg.

1tisILeClerc · 16/09/2018 20:50

When you have the likes of the woman from somewhere in Northern England complaining that her holiday in Spain was ruined because the hotel staff were a bit rude and worse the place was full of Spanish, anybody would think they owned the place!
It would be interesting knowing where the holiday resorts of Europe are putting their advertising money for next season.
I went to Ibiza for work some 25 years ago. The main town was disgusting with pissed up 'holiday makers'. Where I was working (an hour's drive away) was heavenly. Do you think the holiday resorts like having their towns vandalised and covered in vomit?

surferjet · 16/09/2018 20:52

Hazardswan
Interesting to hear about your drunken exploits abroad, thankfully I can handle my drink & have never made an arse of myself.

Peregrina · 16/09/2018 20:53

My impression with the Spanish resorts is that there are plenty of German tourists, but they tend to be a little older than many of ours and probably spend a bit more money. But it's only an impression. I tend to avoid the boozy places anyway.

Hazardswan · 16/09/2018 20:55

surfer sorry you don't know how to have fun and let your hair down, is that why you voted leave?

jasjas1973 · 16/09/2018 20:55

No Surfer, you've just re-enforced their view we are thick.

surferjet · 16/09/2018 20:56

From memory, there were loads of Scottish & Irish lager / larger louts.
But I guess that’s allowed.

Bearbehind · 16/09/2018 20:57

Can we get back to how 'Spain will disappear' please?

Do you mean literally, like it will just sink?

Or something less dramatic?

Hazardswan · 16/09/2018 21:00

Gibraltar will eat Spain. Fact.

frumpety · 16/09/2018 21:02

I think the main point is that tourism is very much a fluid market. Take Cornwall as an example, they have direct flights from Newquay to Germany, when I was there this Summer there was a significant increase in German tourists and I have noticed this increase over the last few years. Fine with me, I can speak a teeny bit of German and they tend to be nice people on the whole. The Cornish aren't daft , they saw an emerging market and went for it

The Spanish will do the same, the English not coming

frumpety · 16/09/2018 21:03

will not be the end of their world .

golondrina · 16/09/2018 21:06

You think Spain would survive without UK tourists?
It’s the larger louts & stag & hen parties that keep them going.
You clearly no fuck all about either Spain or its tourism industry. (I live in Spain and work closely with the tourism industry in a related field.)

golondrina · 16/09/2018 21:07

know

frumpety · 16/09/2018 21:21

Given a very similar coastline , I am not sure why Wales aren't pushing the German tourism thing, direct flights to Munich from Cardiff, or maybe they are and I just haven't noticed ?

1tisILeClerc · 16/09/2018 21:30

Some films were shot in Cornwall and 'fans' go to see the locations I believe.
