I've been reading Brexit threads and it's always the same people talking about how unhappy they are about Brexit.
I guess Brexit leave voters have no time to waste on forums.

jason you need to try a bit harder. Denial isn't just a place in Egypt.

MedicinalGin · 21/08/2018 23:23

You’re right, a lot of these threads do seem to be started by remainers. Perhaps that’s because there are a lot of them.

Because, despite all this bollocks about ‘the will of the people’ and ‘the biggest mandate ever’ etc etc, Leave won by a whisker and there was only 4% difference in numbers or something.

MotherofPearl · 21/08/2018 23:24

I believe in Britain with all my heart.

Ah well, if it's just about believing then everything will be fine.

Who needs facts and experts and actual reality when we have believing in Britain to see us through.

FFS, I really do despair.

What is believing in Britain mean? Also it's a bit of a tell that you don't believe in the UK as that is fracturing by the second.

golondrina · 21/08/2018 23:38

countries like Spain, people have so little, they are so poor. Errr, what? I've lived in Spain for nearly twenty years, that's absolutely not my experience. Britain, food banks anyone? Hello?

Ihatemycar · 21/08/2018 23:45

@Hazardswan how is the UK falling apart?
My life hasn't changed at all. We have the same ups and downs that we had prior to 2016.
I don't see any difference with my family or friends. Where I live all the business are doing great.
We have like a million coffee shops all full all day.
Restaurants full. Anywhere I go it's busy.
We are definitely stepping into a new era for sure but one full of possibilities.

Scotland aiming for an Indy ref

What experts? I work in industry and I talk to business owners all the time. People that know how to expand and grow outside the EU like Dyson. They been trading under TWO for years.
Why do you have so much faith in the EU? Look at Greece, Spain and Italy is that success? Greece its nearly bankrupted. Is that the European dream?

Correction WTO rules.

Goodness. Do tell.

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/08/2018 00:15

Do you genuinely see success as just being about money? What those countries contribute in terms of history, culture, food, art is immeasurable. And the peace that Europe has enjoyed. Its fine to say closer economic ties were troublesome, but thats not all the EU does.

CandyStore · 22/08/2018 00:20

I believe they also like to eat, educate and prosper. They can't eat history or culture.
They need jobs, they need to feed their families.
Greek people are desperate and I blame first the Greek government then the EU.

Are you telling me you don't believe we can make it on our own?

The EU didn't make us. We are successful with or without the EU.

What makes the EU so great? I really don't understand this devotion to it.

Really don’t bother. On MN, three things are non-negotiable and NOT up for debate or discussion.

Brexit voters and/or supporters are stupid and ignorant and manipulated by right wing press. Only remainders have the right to an opinion because they are completely right about everything

ilovesooty · 22/08/2018 01:06

believing in Britain to see us through
It would be funny if it weren't so ridiculous.

borntobequiet · 22/08/2018 05:49

Another reminder of the meaning of the word remainder. It’s not what you think it is.

Twotabbycats · 22/08/2018 06:11

I'm curious... the unicorns and rainbows scenario of which you speak ihatemycar - will that be the case when the U.K. crashes out with no deal, all the planes stop flying and there's no food in the shops because nothing comes in or out of the U.K. because there are no trade or customs agreements in place? Or is it only the case if there is a miracle and the government gets off its backside and miraculously solves all the problems like the Irish border, and trade and airspace deals, and whips that 350 million a week for the NHS out of its back pocket with a flourish?

bellinisurge · 22/08/2018 06:22

Mrs Miniver is an interesting film or, of course, the Dambusters. Why don't you watch those to get a warm fuzzy feeling on your period of leave? Or The Cruel Sea. Or Passport to Pimlico- although that might make you cross.

NameChangedAgain18 · 22/08/2018 06:32

The EU didn't make us. We are successful with or without the EU

We weren't doing so well before we joined the EU, were we? We were doing so badly, in fact, that we were begging them to let us join.

PrincessMargaret · 22/08/2018 06:37

Indeed. We were considered the sick man of Europe and they didn't want to let us in. It took years of negotiations.

Bearbehind · 22/08/2018 07:07

In what other circumstances, aside from Brexit and Santa, would anyone say ‘ignore all the facts because the only thing that matters is believing’?

It does make it rather hard to dismiss the stereotypical view of Leavers.

Especially those who call Remainers, Remainders.

ShackUp · 22/08/2018 07:08

Oh come off it OP you're all over these threads!

BertrandRussell · 22/08/2018 07:14

The problem is that leVers always say”oh, but it’s inky remainders who are allowed opinions- leavers are always abused/ignored/shouted down”

But when I say things like” Well, I think it will be a disaster, but I desperately hope i’m wrong because my children and I live here and I want us to be safe and secure and happy, please reassure me. Please tell me how things will be OK” nobody ever answers. Please can you, OP? Tell me sone good things that will happen over the next 5 years.
