Good news yesterday < gets out green highlighter >
Still work to be done but it’s another step in the right direction.

Wine

Ps: completely given up on the Brexit Arms as it’s been taken over by remainers.
This is our chilled out place to post on in the run up to March 2019.

How is being in the EU stopping the Govt addressing these pressing problems?

bearbehind · 24/03/2018 11:32

mummmy, given all the time money and resource being devoted to just trying to execute Brexit, where do you see these magical changes elsewhere coming from?

And quit with the, that's not my job.

You voted for change, you must have an idea how it can work in reality.

AgnesSkinner · 24/03/2018 11:32

Nope. Still not seeing how leaving the EU will improve those areas of the UK that have been left behind.

The only thing I see is everything being even more on the back burner whilst the government tries to get its shit together.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/03/2018 11:34

8 years of ongoing austerity designed to strip away public services coupled with Brexit making us poorer. Yes, I can totally see why leavers would expect services to improve Hmm

LondonMum8 · 24/03/2018 11:35

@surferjet

Well, the country is divided in half population numbers wise. Why don't we split it? A nice north-south divide, the North outside, the South in. GDP split would be roughly 80%/20% but then I"m sure the freedom from both the EU and the Remainers would be totally worth the economic sacrifice.

surferjet · 24/03/2018 11:37

< sigh >

Another leavers thread ruined by bitter remainers.

They ruined the Brexit Arms & now they’ve ruined this one.

.....I tell you what.
have both threads with my blessing, I mean, we’ve got our country back so giving you a minuscule part of the internet is nothing. Wine

Why do we vote to change governments at a General election. To change the way life in the UK is run..
You have too see that .
You also need to realise that leavers can and did vote for change... that I voted not knowing how it would all work as that was not what I was voting about. I want to leave the EU.
Other countries citizens feel the same if the EU is so great WHY?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/03/2018 11:39

How exactly did you get your country back Surferjet, since there has been an admission sovereignty was never lost?

LondonMum8 · 24/03/2018 11:43

@surferjet It's either you are capable of materially engaging with the points put forward, or you start lamenting and lose the debate. It's that simple.

AgnesSkinner · 24/03/2018 11:45

Oh yeah, I can totally see why we have GEs every 5 years with each party producing an election manifesto (although these are not enforceable).

But voting for something as nebulous and undefined as ‘leave the EU’ because ‘people want a change’ and then come up with a scheme that is impossible to implement because nobody really thought it through defies logic.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/03/2018 11:45

Why do we vote to change governments at a General election. To change the way life in the UK is run..

and yet we've had 40 years of neo liberal governments that have caused the problems Brexiteers whinge about yet cannot recognise. How much change we get from one government to another is debateable especially under FPTP system.

You also need to realise that leavers can and did vote for change... that I voted not knowing how it would all work as that was not what I was voting about. I want to leave the EU.

Congratulations, you sold your house not knowing what to do next. Now you are standing in the street with all your belongings. Oh, its starting to rain...

Other countries citizens feel the same if the EU is so great WHY?

I've been waiting 2 years for the Brexit domino affect.

DGRossetti · 24/03/2018 11:52

Another leavers thread ruined by bitter remainers.

that's because "Leave" just becomes a stick mess when it touches reality.

As mentioned before, if you paired off a Leave voter and a Remain voter at the rate of one a second, it would take over six months until the Leave majority emerged.

No amount of semantics - let alone mathematics - will ever make 52/48 into a convincing majority - if it did, there would be no need for feminism ....

mummmy2017 · 24/03/2018 11:53

Macron admitted he could never hold a vote or France would be out.
So you sell the house hire somewhere else and a van to move. You have options so does the UK.
The answer to most of your questions is really not enough people thought your way... life works like that

AgnesSkinner · 24/03/2018 11:55

Funny that 63% of the electorate didn’t vote Leave eh?

LondonMum8 · 24/03/2018 11:57

@Mummy2017

I voted not knowing how it would all work as that was not what I was voting about.

But that's just you. Others voted because they wanted to give Dave a bloody nose, some voted because they thought they are helping the NHS, some voted because they thought paying £10B to the EU is a bad deal, some voted because they wanted Europeans to leave the country. All of these are spurious reasons and the percentage of voters in question is surely large enough to put the referendum result in question.

mummmy2017 · 24/03/2018 12:00

What about the ones too lazy to care?
L and R ran a race L past the finishing post just before R so in the new world order you want L lost.. go figure how that works... then I can go use my lottery ticket and claim I won the jackpot lottery last night.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/03/2018 12:01

So you sell the house hire somewhere else and a van to move.

but using leaver logic this is not your responsibility, the government should sort it. All you did was sell your house. What happens beyond that is not your responsibility. Maybe neighbours will let you kip on the sofa or maybe you'll just stand in the street looking stupid. Believe.

RosiePosiePuddle · 24/03/2018 12:02

I am confused. After the transition agreement isn't it almost exactly the way it was before and will stay so for 2 years? Except that the uk only gets to follow the rules not participate in making them.

LondonMum8 · 24/03/2018 12:03

@GhostofFrankGrimes 😂

AgnesSkinner · 24/03/2018 12:03

But it’s not a running race. That’s a stupid analogy. And the whole “we won you lost” thing is pathetic and does nothing to move the country forwards.

mummmy2017 · 24/03/2018 12:08

So pre vote, the EU took the house money and moved you to a new house...
Hands anybody this happened too....
If you sold the house and are in the street you must be remain as your house is your home maybe you can go to Spain or something ....

Talkstotrees · 24/03/2018 12:13

Not sure just how we’ve ruined the thread surfer. We have come here to hear about the positives of leaving the EU; to find out what it is that those who voted to leave believe will make it all worthwhile.

If you give us the positives we can either agree with them or disagree and explain why. So far we’ve seen nothing but change for change’s sake and unspecified distrust of the EU.

I am not being dismissive - I value tthe opinions of all and would like to understand what Leavers feel they will achieve by leaving the EU.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/03/2018 12:14

If you sold the house and are in the street you must be remain as your house is your home maybe you can go to Spain or something .

no leavers sold the house because they didn't like paying the bank interest. The house provided security for the family, warmth, good memories. But the bank y'know, interest, hate being in hock to faceless corporations. Now we've taken back control, standing tall in the street, autonomous. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to sell us a bigger house with better mortgage terms, even though I previously said I hate mortgages and corporations...In the meantime, oh its raining again.

Talkstotrees · 24/03/2018 12:14

Whooaaaa! What?

LondonMum8 · 24/03/2018 12:20

@mummmy2017 I'm really sorry to be the one to tell you this, but your "Sat 24-Mar-18 12:08:48" post is absurd, but let me take a shot at partially deciphering it.

So pre vote, the EU took the house money and moved you to a new house...

OK, we sold the house, gave the money to the EU and got a house. On the one hand it sounds good: we are not standing in the street looking stupid. I digress from any relevance to real life, because there is none.

Hands anybody this happened too....

If you sold the house and are in the street you must be remain

Don't understand. We sold the house and got a new one from the EU. All good. We sell it again, we get a new one from the EU. Well, once we leave the EU we won't be able to count on that, but we haven't left yet.

as your house is your home maybe you can go to Spain or something ....
