Good news yesterday < gets out green highlighter >
Still work to be done but it’s another step in the right direction.

Wine

Ps: completely given up on the Brexit Arms as it’s been taken over by remainers.
This is our chilled out place to post on in the run up to March 2019.

Positive people only Smile

But when it comes to brexit, it's la la la we are leaving!

If the Govt was saying 'We need to sort x, y, z and it will take this amount of time and cost that amount of money, then maybe it would be a bit more reassuring.

Talkstotrees · 23/03/2018 11:52

Bit like an angel Hmm

Anyway, we digress.

Back to the marvellously positive posts about Brexit.

mummmy2017 · 23/03/2018 11:55

That is the point they can't tell you yet as it isn't a fixed thing. We keep saying this to you.
We are not hiding the answers, we just don't have any yet...
I do understand your anger at this, the difference is we can see and accept this, while you can't see it.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 23/03/2018 12:01

We are not hiding the answers, we just don't have any yet...

do you perhaps think the answers should have been considered before the referendum?

If your faith is in politicians to deliver then there is zero evidence over the last 18 months that this is going to end well. That is why we are heading towards BINO. An expensive waste of time.

Once again the Brexiteers here refuse to acknowledge the governments own impact assessment reports. Basically, you'll get Brexit but we'll all be poorer and the UK will be damaged.

surferjet · 23/03/2018 12:01

We won’t know whether Brexit is a success for about 10 years.
If you want to spend the next 10 years moaning on the internet then carry on.
Personally, if I was as angry as you lot are I’d be starting a UKIP type party to get back in.

But that takes a lot more effort than sitting on mumsnet all day right?

We won’t know whether Brexit is a success for about 10 years.

How will you measure this success? A lot of people are already struggling and cannot afford a lost decade. Remember how Brexit was going to help the poorest?

Personally, if I was as angry as you lot are I’d be starting a UKIP type party to get back in.

I'm not angry. I think Brexit and its cultists are hilarious. Moaning about foreigners making blue passports, throwing dead fish in the Thames. Joke.

But that takes a lot more effort than sitting on mumsnet all day right?

How many threads have you started in the last 18 months?

Peregrina · 23/03/2018 12:10

I wonder how far someone opening a shop would get if they said, "I want a red, white and blue shop. I want the best shop possible."? Not very far, I would suspect - they'd be told to go away and work out a proper business plan.

How does surferjet know that we are not working at politics?

OliviaD68 · 23/03/2018 12:11

Don't need 10 years to figure out it won't work.

Point 4 below sums it up.

We are raising trade barriers ... in the name of free trade!

surferjet · 23/03/2018 12:12

Oh, so you’re not angry we’re leaving the EU? you’re just using these threads to take the piss & have a laugh?

Interesting. But what I’ve long suspected.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions 👍

@surferjet: Starting a successful political party requires some serious funding. I know Arron and his Russian entourage would be best positioned to explain, but perhaps - as a supporter - you could shed some light on the sources of Leave.EU/UKIP bankroll?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 23/03/2018 12:18

Oh, so you’re not angry we’re leaving the EU? you’re just using these threads to take the piss & have a laugh?

No I like holding leavers to account and understanding their logic. Doing well on the former I feel, failing miserably on the latter.

PaddyF0dder · 23/03/2018 12:18

Positive people only! No dissent! Just go la la la it’ll all be fine shut up it will!

Yay you’ve erected a magical forcefield around this thread so those pesky re-mainians won’t find it and be all mean with things like facts and alternative opinions! Finally a safe space echo chamber!

MissTwist · 23/03/2018 12:23

I'm positive it will be a fuck up.

surferjet · 23/03/2018 12:23

Maybe you should make a few phone calls to your millionaire mates LondonMum8 -
I’m sure Tony Blair & Vince Cable could throw you a few thousand.
Or are you suggesting Team Remain was run by bus drivers & dinner ladies?

OP posts:
GhostofFrankGrimes · 23/03/2018 12:24

I suspect the Brexit Arms threads were started with good intentions. Remainers would complain for a few weeks but then be persuaded by nice emojis and flags. Remainers and leavers would then come together in an act of patriotism, truly basking in Brexit ignorance.

Sadly for the leavers here it hasn't happened. Pesky remainers are using their democratic right to hold differing opinion. Opinions backed up with evidence.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 23/03/2018 12:26

Or are you suggesting Team Remain was run by bus drivers & dinner ladies?

The only bus I saw during the referendum was a red one. Who drove that Boris or Gove? How will dinner ladies on low incomes cope with Brexit's lost decade? Answers on a patriotic post card please.

mummmy2017 · 23/03/2018 12:30

Surferjet. It's the classic break up anger on display. Demand for answers and hoping they will be taken back into the relationship. All the whole failing to realise and acknowledge the other side is happy with the result even if it does mean temperary financial problems. New relationships will be found and we will make peace with the EU.

LondonMum8 · 23/03/2018 12:31

@surferjet: I don't think following up on your funding suggestions would even move the needle here, and unlike Arron, I can't think of a single foreign superpower that would be interested in funding my cause.

mummmy2017 · 23/03/2018 12:33

I saw the remain bus on TV. Wasn't allowed to park, caused traffic jams and General mayhem then it seemed to just disappear.
Bit pointless really.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 23/03/2018 12:33

Nice fairy tale there...why didn't they put the temporary financial problems on the side of a big bus?

mummmy2017 · 23/03/2018 12:38

Leavers logic ..
We got to vote.
We wanted to go.
We walked put an x and more of us wanted to leave than stay.
What your saying is we should not have voted to leave as it was impossible to do... so we are not a member of the EU we were a prissioner as there is NO WAY TO ESCAPE......

JWIM · 23/03/2018 13:00

You should have voted leave based on a considered plan as to how that could be accomplished using the rules that govern the current arrangement properly.

As yet we have not left the EU. There is no certainty that we will leave the EU yet. If we do leave the EU the way in which we will do that, when and what will follow has yet to be agreed.

So today's positive - the UK continues to be a member state of the EU and the date when that may change is not yet certain - current Art 50 legal challenge, possible withdrawal of Art 50 by UK and supported by EU, possible extension of Art 50 2 year period by agreement between UK and EU27.

So we are still in the EU.

mummmy2017 · 23/03/2018 13:08

But now I have asked I want to know. Is there any way to leave the EU. Or are we trapped...

Motheroffourdragons · 23/03/2018 13:08

surferjet · 23/03/2018 13:14

Are we trapped then?
You see no way of successfully leaving the EU.
Are you happy with basically being held to ransom?
Because what you’re saying is ‘we can’t leave because if we do we’ll suffer terribly’

Is that a good thing? Hmm
