This may be the last Brexit Arms thread that I will host.

It was intended to be a non-partisan and relatively light hearted thread for posters on both sides of the divide, but unfortunately this seems to have proved impossible so far.

It is not supposed to be a place for the disgruntled Remainer to use as an outlet to abuse and kick out at their perceived enemy.

I will give it one last go in the hope that things will change.

So.... onwards to Brexit....

How do you do it?

Stick your fingers in your ears, close your eyes and say “la la la I’m not listening” Wink

Ok faith its 2026
We and eu have implement paris global warming rules.
I go to court in Febraury and win a decision in supreme court
You take same case in Novembet, but lose. As in August/September ECJ changed it stance and so supreme has to take its influence. Would you have noticed change, we aren't in EU amore.
At least a present you would have know and not gone to court
Thats the problem
Surely with things like law and courts , so ECJ you either have to commit fully or walk away. Its a back of the fagpaper exercise to allow uk to have frictionless trade and allow us to believe we have brexited properly. When actually we are worse of. Because some iaws will be English only, some will be affected by ECJ rules. Sorry that's not taking back control, we are actual giving up control in some respects

Theworldisfullofidiots · 02/03/2018 20:50

We can't be Norway. They invested their oil revenue.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 02/03/2018 20:52

and so supreme has to take its influence

That's the situation now user.

In the future we wouldn't have to, we could choose to, but we wouldn't have to.

bearbehind · 02/03/2018 20:52

I've started a new thread since brexitarmslandlady got the hump about starting anymore.

I'm guessing faith won't come over since she can't read any of my posts anymore because of her blocking skills!

For anyone else- see you there when this fills up.

Better some control than none.

bearbehind · 02/03/2018 20:54

PMSL that faith has ignored surfers request on how to block posters.

She really is in some kind of parallel universe where reality and fantasy are completely indisguishable.

JWIM · 02/03/2018 20:55

Except if, and that's a big if based on the current structures, we were permitted to remain part of the medical/chemical/aviation etc agencies, then we would have to follow the ECJ judgements.

user1471450935 · 02/03/2018 20:57

Like I said I am increasing thinking Hammond and the likes of Amber Rudd, Greg Clark are todays big winners in cabinet. Seems Boris and Liam and David have had to admit brexit can't be everything to everyone and the more sensible MPs are starting to take control
Wonder what will happen to the fading red lines when we start negocating Brexit
as usually you set bar high, so high hard brexit and end up with less. Here we are asking for EFTA style from start. Not much left to give up for further EU concessions

bearbehind · 02/03/2018 20:58

Better some control than none.

We had more than 'some' control.

We were a major player at the rule making table- we've just screwed that right up.

Jwim.
I know, that what baffles me. May, Boris ,Liam and David all until today wanted nothing to do with ECJ and we where abondaning the Eu atomic agency and medicines and avaition and setting our own high standards. Was looking forward to brave new world. Now we are either planning to stay in or become associate members to get benefits
It very confusing and just as I accept we are leaving and will try and make it work. The government backtracks

AgnesSkinner · 02/03/2018 21:12

Leaving EASA for aviation would create huge problems - it would take years for the CAA to be able to replicate the EU agreements for access and certification.

bearbehind · 02/03/2018 21:13

Isn't there a question mark over whether associated membership would be possible though agnes?

It sounds like even TMs concessions might not even be possible.

AgnesSkinner · 02/03/2018 21:18

You can be an associate member of EASA - but it will be a step down for the UK as we were very influential in driving aviation policy as a full member.

Doubletrouble99 · 02/03/2018 21:21

User - no one ever said we were leaving all these organisations.

JWIM · 02/03/2018 21:23

Having searched EASA (aviation) and EMA (medical/drugs) neither appears to have an 'Associate' member status. Not sure what the UK Govt thinks they can force to happen when the agencies have no method of offering/appointing assocuiates.

bearbehind · 02/03/2018 21:24

no one ever said we were leaving all these organisations

FFS , of course they did- it was rather the point of leaving the EU.

Except those of you who voted for it did so under the illusion nothing you liked would change.

JWIM · 02/03/2018 21:25

Double I think you will find that our Govt has said we will be leaving them - they are EU agencies. Art 50 and all that.

user1471450935 · 02/03/2018 21:27

Double
Possibly not in exact words but it was sold like that and cetainly not like Mrs May explained today. Think she was adament we would leave juristriction of ECJ, not stay under it

user1471450935 · 02/03/2018 21:28

Christ cross post with you again bear and same point againSmile

bearbehind · 02/03/2018 21:29
