This may be the last Brexit Arms thread that I will host.

It was intended to be a non-partisan and relatively light hearted thread for posters on both sides of the divide, but unfortunately this seems to have proved impossible so far.

It is not supposed to be a place for the disgruntled Remainer to use as an outlet to abuse and kick out at their perceived enemy.

I will give it one last go in the hope that things will change.

So.... onwards to Brexit....

JRM and Patel are back benchers. Grayling hopefully busy monitoring transport (as per his job). Boris snowed in in Budapest (there is a god).

bearbehind · 02/03/2018 20:00

faith how do you square your wish to give our MPs 'control' when they're no better than the EU.

Expenses scandal anyone?

user1471450935 · 02/03/2018 20:00

Sorry I am sadly serious about it. I want Britain and our neighbours to succeed. My home City and kids need it to.
Sorry if I upset you previously, we are going to leave and I needed to find a way to find away to understand it and how it could work
Always tbought a EFTA type deal just not how it could work
Thank you for listening and enlightening me. Quite humbling reallySmile
Just hope we and EU start discussions in good faith and can reach a UKFTA deal
Just hope we end up like Norway, whom seem quite successful

user1471450935 · 02/03/2018 20:07

Double
No not directly ruled, but we will watch it's rulings and implement best practice and consider them when the supreme court rules on a similar case.
So if EU thinks tv/internet regulations are too weak and rules to improve, its likely if supreme courts rules on similar it will look a ECJ and be influcence by it.
Worse then present. As we won't know for definiate, so you can gueantee people/companies.will want to test it.

Doubletrouble99 · 02/03/2018 20:13

User, I might be wrong but I didn't take it that TM said the Supreme court would look at ECJ ruling on an individual case but that if parliament were passing a law about the same thing as the EU then we would take into account how it was written.

Bear - do bear in mind that User voted remain so is going to be the softest of leavers!

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 02/03/2018 20:15

Worse then present.

Confused Not 'worse than present' at all, quite the opposite in fact.

At present: have to abide by their judgements

Future: will decide whether we want to align or not, on separate, individual judgements.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 02/03/2018 20:17

*By judgements I meant laws (sorry)

bearbehind · 02/03/2018 20:20

I appreciate that but at least his comments are based on what was actually said.

The rest of you have stuck your fingers in your ears and are pretending nothing has changed.

TM is readying you all for soft Brexit.

Do you remember that boiling frog analogy?

She's just turned the gas on under the pan of water and put you all in it.

surferjet · 02/03/2018 20:30

So, soft Brexit it is.
Remainers, you must be very happy tonight.
Congratulations SmileWine
No more arguing now.

bearbehind · 02/03/2018 20:31

I'm assuming you are taking the piss surfer-, otherwise why did you bother voting in the first place?

surferjet · 02/03/2018 20:34

I’m not taking the piss.
As TM said, she can’t please everyone.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 02/03/2018 20:34

Soft Brexit, but with the key to unlock a harder Brexit in the future Surfer 😉

It's the no CU, no SM thing that's crucial.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 02/03/2018 20:35

Is bear still posting?

I've blocked her.

abilockhart · 02/03/2018 20:35

It will be a pretty hard Brexit for everyone except millionaires who have squirrelled millions abroad.

Nothing whatsoever to celebrate.

surferjet · 02/03/2018 20:36

Agree Faith.
Soft Brexit.....for now.

I didn’t know you could block people on here?

bearbehind · 02/03/2018 20:37

I'm actually more annoyed that you're not even passionate enough to give a shit.

What the fuck is the point?

abilockhart · 02/03/2018 20:37

It will be a pretty hard Brexit for everyone except millionaires who have squirrelled millions abroad

Add to that desperate idiots!

bearbehind · 02/03/2018 20:38

Grow up faith

user1471450935 · 02/03/2018 20:39

Faith
Easily the other way too.
If we stay closely aligned, nothing to say in ten to fifteen years our kids and grandkids might vote to rejoin
Be much easier then in 1973. As we will still meet much of EU's conditions.
Would have thought leavers would have want much more clear blue water between us. Making that almost impossible.

bearbehind · 02/03/2018 20:39

I'm pretty sure you can't block people on here, faith just thinks it makes her sound big and clever.

bearbehind · 02/03/2018 20:41

Absolutely right user.

The younger generation see the benefit in alignment with the EU.

Wait for the old duffer voters to pop off and we'll move closer to the EU not further away.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 02/03/2018 20:41

I didn’t know you could block people on here?

Totes.

I've blocked a couple of posters.

surferjet · 02/03/2018 20:43

Depends what happens in the next 10 - 15 years user - I personally think the EU is a sinking ship, we just made the first hole.

surferjet · 02/03/2018 20:44

How do you do it?

bearbehind · 02/03/2018 20:46

How do you do it?

You just close your eyes to posts you don't want to read.

No other option that I'm aware of.
