Tomorrow is the Queen’s Speech. In honour of that the start of this thread is written in its honour:

….
Immigration is bad. Except for that good immigration.
….
….
Brexit means Brexit
….
Pilot scheme.
....
….
….
Money for –the DUP-- NI
….
….
Brexit means Brexit
….
The Internet is Bad. Newspapers are good.
….
Brexit means Brexit.
….
….
….
Britain wave your flag.
….
….
….

(The Queen’s turns over the page to read the back of the A4 sheet, only to find it blank)

Is there more truth than humour in this ?

Sostenueto · 20/06/2017 19:20

Well Corbyn better change his stance on the single market then.(not likely). He wants out if he wants nationalisation of railways etc because its not allowed under EU laws. I think I am right, but I'm probably not as I'm always wrong.Confused

ClashCityRocker · 20/06/2017 19:24

sos I've got a feeling there's a workaround somewhere... I have vague recollections of discussing it on another thread (or seeing it discussed). It's a bloody minefield.

Kind of like FOM. There were lots of things we could put in place to prevent situations people got their knickers in a knot about - but didn't.

If we had, I suspect we wouldn't have these wonderful threads though, so every cloud etc..

woman12345 · 20/06/2017 19:27

Mac Donald has just said the tories need to sort themselves out as "Labour needs an effective opposition". back of the net John.Grin

Thanks, Red et al.

Sostenueto · 20/06/2017 19:28

Agree clash but great threads to learn about things. I am dim compared to people on here. I was only a musician. (My excuse and I'm dam well gonna stick to it) Smile

Sostenueto · 20/06/2017 19:30

Great Woman12345 made me really laugh!Grin

Sostenueto · 20/06/2017 19:32

This mess could have been sorted if only people would stop voting conservative.Hmm

woman12345 · 20/06/2017 19:34

'Remain'/ pro single market/ anti austerity coalition: Raynor, Cable and Clarke on channel 4 news now. Expect we'll hear more from them tomorrow. Strange times.

pointythings · 20/06/2017 19:46

Sostenueto don't call yourself dim! You aren't. Just get that through your not-thick head, OK? Flowers

The reason we are in this mess is because the whole issue of the EU, how it works, how countries interact with each other, how the UK has interacted with it, how the red tops and politicians have used it as a scapegoat - it's all massively complicated.

Which is why DC should never have let it come to a referendum, at least not without setting a 2/3 majority requirement for there to be any binding consequences.

Sostenueto · 20/06/2017 19:52

So right Woman12345. Never known nothing like this at all. Whatever happens this country is going to be changed. I am just hoping when its all over the change is for the better. I mean I have to admit you all have nearly convinced me staying in is best policy ( not 100% though) but that few % worries what would happen if decision to leave is overturned? Will there be demonstrations/riots? Will there be more racism? Will there be so much civil unrest that the police won't be able to cope? After all it would be a Democratic vote overturned ( waits for someone to say with baited breathe that the referendum is not a democratic vote).

lalalonglegs · 20/06/2017 19:56

The 3 Million group has just emailed about a plan to be launched on Thursday for EU nationals to register. Guardian link here.

In theory, it could regulate their post-Brexit status and should make it easier for them to stay but, given the rhetoric of the past year, it makes me feel nervous.

Sostenueto · 20/06/2017 19:56

PointythingsFlowers thanks my dear but you are all highly intelligent, I was always just arty, but I have learned so much from you all and love to follow all on these threads even if, as you say, things are so complicated. Every one should have been informed before they voted properly. I expect outcome would have been different.Sad

Sostenueto · 20/06/2017 20:01

Omg! My dds have just walked in with a....puppy! A beautiful puppy! Be back later good people! Xxx

From that article lala
Monique Hawkins, a dual British-Dutch national, who made international headlines when her application for permanent residency was refused on technical grounds, also reported mistrust among EU citizens.

People don’t trust the UK government. The mood among EU citizens has changed. You can see it on the forums on Facebook. Before it was ‘I hope they let us stay’, but now it’s ‘I’ll believe it when I see it’. People have put up with so much pain in the last year, there is now a general mistrust of the Home Office,” said Hawkins.
