I am not ranting. I am not surprised that posters would describe my arguments in such a pejorative and reductive way. It's so typical and so pathetic.
Similarly, there is nothing tribal about it. Look at the map of where the leave heartland is.

Bearbehind · 26/03/2017 12:34

cowgirls instead of apparently making arguments for the sake of it on here, could you tell us why you think the 'northern poor' or indeed anyone is going to be better off as a result of Brexit?

i don't necessarily mean financially better off but if you're so desperate for us 'understand' their vote, you need to explain how they reached the conclusion it was the best option.

'Sticking one up the establishment' is also commonly called 'shooting youself in the foot' unless you get the last laugh.

whatwouldrondo · 26/03/2017 12:35

Yes Cowgirl like the Skipton and Ripon constituency, the largest but not exactly one of the most deprived areas in the country though? A huge Leave vote was generated in comfy middle class villages across the constituency. Then there was York and Leeds, both voted Remain, and Leeds does have more than it's fair share of appalling deprivation.

It is tribal when you start othering people as you have done. I would not indulge in reductive stereotyping of you because you are "Northern", or make sweeping generalisations about any parts of the country. Why are you doing it about the marchers posting on here?

Kaija · 26/03/2017 12:38

I'm enjoying the animal pics

cowgirlsareforever · 26/03/2017 12:44

OMG that furry belly Shock I want to bury my face in it Blush!

MsHooliesCardigan · 26/03/2017 18:46

Elements I know, he is incredibly cuddly. He's actually a migrant cat - he used to live next door but voted with his feet and moved in with us and, when his owner moved, she said we may as well keep him. As a migrant, he is obviously pro Remain. He's also quite intellectual and takes a lot of interest in DS1's A level homework.

lalalonglegs · 26/03/2017 19:09

I'm so pleased you and Mrs Lurking made it, LH. Several Star for effort.

Tanith · 27/03/2017 07:49

If Theresa May was hoping it would all go away on Wednesday, she needs to think again:

Thank you! Smile

Fantastic day!! After the terrible events last week, the streets were filled with sunshine and love. #strongertogether. That was not the final chapter though; if you believe the UK place is in Europe, keep on believing. We must continue to make our voices heard.

Do you think TM must be surrounded by Yes Men? She's goes around saying that the country is united behind her on Brexit. That is a Trump level, side of a bus style lie in the face of quantifiable facts showing the very opposite. Never in my life (I'm 47) has the mainland been more divided. Even the most hard-line Brexiteer must see that.

lalalonglegs · 27/03/2017 17:16

Not only does TM surround herself with Yes Men, she is proud of it. Look at the way she has sacked/forced out anyone who disagrees with her (vide: Michael Heseltine, Ivan Rogers) and slapped down anyone who doesn't toe the party line - which she has decided is indistinguishable from her line.

Niamer · 27/03/2017 17:17

She perhaps thinks if she says it often enough, it will become reality.

Met nice local people on return train and am linking up with her village's 48% group. Without the march, I'd not have been able to find local people still campaigning, and am going to help out with petitioning and leafletting.

Local( and maybe non party political?) campaigning is so important.
The work continues after Wednesday, in fact it probably really starts then, now they are under the impression they have won.

Niamer · 27/03/2017 21:34

Absolutely User; we must keep going, we must be nuisances. I will continue to witter for my children. I cannot and will not accept what is plain stupid.
