Thank you so much to all of you who went on the march. Unfortunately I couldn't go (due to complicated family circumstances) but I followed it on twitter and felt I was there is spirit. I thought the speeches were very good, especially Nick Clegg's.

Peregrina · 25/03/2017 20:50

Just back home now. Brilliant march, 100,000 strong, happy atmosphere - didn't cause the Police any trouble. I bet they would be more than happy to support marches like that, rather than ones where arrests are made and crowds are kettled.

Funnily enough, I saw a lot of men on the march. - Our coach down was probably half men and half women. I wonder how those men managed to pass as bored middle class housewives.

I went on the march because I'm a poor, unfortunate woman that does not have the benefit of a HUSBAND advising me on what to think.

twofingerstoEverything · 25/03/2017 21:51

Peregrina I wonder how those men managed to pass as bored middle class housewives.

They were probably not REAL men. They were probaby quiche-eating, liberal elite men.

EnormousTiger · 25/03/2017 21:53

..trans even....

I just showed this to DH, his response was, a load of middle class bored Stay at Home House Wives with nothing else better to do, who will not make the slightest difference. As a stay at home (working class house wife, i'm afraid I do agree). Btw, what do you all hope to acheive by this march?

So agree. Of course, absolutely nothing will be achieved but I'm pleased they all had a nice outing.

Roll on Wednesday.

MitzyLeFrouf · 25/03/2017 22:12

I'm so glad this thread has some proper opinions. Men's opinions that is. I'm always adrift on threads, not knowing what to think or what opinion to have, without someone's wise DH to guide the way.

whatwouldrondo · 25/03/2017 22:25

I just want to apologise for the Freudian slip in writing PC Fletcher, and not PC Palmer in my earlier post. In my defence I worked in St James's Square where PC Fletcher was felled and she was discussed today. When I talk about the feelings of the Police men and women I spoke to today I was with an off duty member of the Police. Their views on the values, including the right to protest peacefully, they are prepared to give their lives for, even if they do not agree certainly shines a light on some of the facile comments on here.

whatwouldrondo · 25/03/2017 22:32

By the way I showed this thread to my DH, he snored drunkenly after too much beer after the Rugby. Please help, I don't know what to do or think, I only have my male Border Collie for guidance more use than DH at the moment

MsHooliesCardigan · 26/03/2017 02:28

My DH is on the toilet. Being a lady and not able to think for myself, I shall go and consult with my cat.

MsHooliesCardigan · 26/03/2017 02:48

Unfortunately, my cat is middle class so his opinion doesn't count.

MsHooliesCardigan · 26/03/2017 03:09

LH I agree it was great to see so many children and young people there.

Peregrina · 26/03/2017 04:31

I can't consult my cat - she's female, so her opinions are no better than mine.

Kaija · 26/03/2017 07:33

My cat is a small state low tax Tory. He says bring on article 50. He can't wait to roll back that regulation. Thinks voters are idiots anyway.

(You can tell all this from the photo can't you?)

TheElementsSong · 26/03/2017 07:47

My cat is female, but as a common-or-garden moggie from an animal shelter, perhaps she is sufficiently working class (although tainted, no doubt, by many years of eating overpriced posh catfood in our household) to offer her opinion? She says "mrow" which means Flowers to everybody who marched, you guys rock!

I also asked her what she thinks of the Brexmoaning Brexmoaners and she commented as per photo.

I could go and ask a male before adding any further words to this discussion. I think my neighbour's holly tree might be male, but am not sure whether it is of the correct class.

CaptainBrickbeard · 26/03/2017 07:49

I suspect most cats of being Tories. I escaped the censorious gaze of mine by leaving for the march when he wasn't looking.

Kaija · 26/03/2017 08:03

But seriously, did someone really come on here to tell us that her husband thinks we're all a bunch of idiots? Her husband?

Did her husband tell her how to vote too? Is this the kind of bullshit we should expecting from Brexit Britain?

Mistigri · 26/03/2017 08:12

Did her husband tell her how to vote too? Is this the kind of bullshit we should expecting from Brexit Britain?

Pretty much. It's all very 1950s. If they can roll it back another 100 years you won't get a vote at all. (I jest - obviously - but I suspect that voter suppression, having won Trump the election, is currently on its way across the Atlantic).

I'm sorry I couldn't be there yesterday - looks like it was an amazing turnout and atmosphere. Thank you to everyone who was there for standing up for people like me.

GraceGrape · 26/03/2017 08:25

A fantastic day - a positive, peaceful march. It was great to see all ages and races represented (and it was probably half and half male/female Shock). Good to see so many powerful speeches too.

Kaija · 26/03/2017 08:31

By the way, what's the difference between a Stay at Home House Wife and a working class house wife? If the working class house wife is working rather than staying at home, surely she's not a house wife? And if she's not, then she's got a big problem if her husband is using "stay at home house wife" as a derogatory term. I think this might be a LTB situation. Do we need to send help?

cowgirlsareforever · 26/03/2017 08:42

I really wish that the politicians and the City had not treated large areas of the UK with utter contempt over the past few decades. Had any of them given a shit about these places people wouldn't have voted out. I am a remainer but I detest how the well educated, economically privileged, mainly southern remainers still don't understand why most people voted to leave.
I'm glad you all enjoyed your walk. I even raised a smile at the poster who enjoyed the fact there were hipster police officers. If you do manage to get your own and overrule the vote, I dread to think about the kicking you people and your mates will give to the north in punishment for people who live there daring to disagree with you Sad

CaptainBrickbeard · 26/03/2017 08:46

It's a shame that instead of those bored, stay at home housewives like Tim Farron and David Lammy etc speaking at the rally they didn't get User's husband to get up and patiently explain why it was such a waste of time. I mean, if democracy isn't adhering blindly to the result of a referendum with no debate, discussion or scrutiny then, like, what is it? You do of course ONLY have the right to express your opinion once, in the ballot box and strictly at no other time, ever. That's right, isn't it?

TheElementsSong · 26/03/2017 08:47

I dread to think about the kicking you people and your mates will give to the north in punishment for people who live there daring to disagree with you

Confused

I'm only a woman and not able to think as clearly as a man, so I do hope somebody (preferably male) will come along and explain the chain of reasoning that led to this deduction of the aims of the march?

CaptainBrickbeard · 26/03/2017 08:48

Also, cowgirls, I'm a northern remainder. There were plenty of us at the march. And the north will get much more of a kicking from the consequences of Brexit than if we were to remain.

GraceGrape · 26/03/2017 08:48

cowgirls There were loads of remainers from the north on the March, whereas I seemed to be the only one travelling from my relatively affluent town in the East.
