Can we laugh or cry yet?

Are you still sane?

Will this insanity ever end?

Yes I'm wondering if that's even possible?

noblegiraffe · 29/06/2016 20:41

The hard left always digs in and sacks those who disagree.

howabout · 29/06/2016 20:43

With regards to manipulation by media why does noone ever point out the anti Semitic undertones to the bacon sandwich jibes? Dog whistle if ever I heard one.

ClashCityRocker · 29/06/2016 20:43

I'm not as politically aware as some on this thread so have been googling some of the lesser known players.

I keep hoping for the political equivalent of a knight in shining armour to resuce us from this chaos...

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/06/2016 20:44

God knows Ginger - but I suppose it's their party, and if they can get enough members to agree with it ...?

At least, though, it would be the end of anyone trying to deny JC's communist principles

RedToothBrush · 29/06/2016 20:46

UUUUGGGHHHHH!

This is not good.

Arron Banks wants his own party to 'replace' UKIP / Labour / Tories

This man really is a lizard.

We really need to start fighting the propaganda then, I guess.

The below is from a friend on FB in case it's of interest to anyone,

Having said that, I'm thinking that no poll, petition or plea will get noticed at this point. Surely the "remain" campaigners had their best lawyers looking at how to potentially contradict Brexit for months in advance?

"My friend Damian Mather is a lecturer specialising in EU law at MMU. He has had this petition approved. It calls for MPs not to repeal the European Communities Act 1972 which provides for UK membership of the European Union. I have signed it in the light of the narrow margin of the referendum results and the dishonesty of the leave campaign. Please sign and share if you agree." link

On JC: I haven't followed him closely, but what I have seen of his utterances he seems sensible and consistent. BUT, and it is a big but, he has no charisma

Sorry, just catching up.

Fwiw, JC has a great deal of charisma in person - warm, witty, relaxed. I think he is always on the back foot and defensive with the broadcast media, and who can blame him tbh.

It is not JC who will have broken up the Labour party, but the PLP. It is quite clear now that the Labour party the grassroots want is not what the PLP wanted. They should probably have stopped calling themselves the Labour party long ago - probably around the time I left the party the first time round. Second time may be imminent.

Ive loved this series of threads. They're my safe place to go.

Zoe williams in the Guardian thinks the Vine email is to Gove and she refers to him in the third person.www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/jun/29/michael-gove-sarah-vine-leaked-email

Regarding all things Law. I'd really recommend listening to R4s Law in Action which is 30 minutes of Law Professors discussing the legal ramifications of Brexit including still having all EU laws until repealed. What's the point, eh?

Also a commentator yesterday said that statistically, as front runner, Boris has little chance of winning the leadership contest. Apparently the last time a front runner won the Tory leadership contest was in 1954.

PlatoTheGreat · 29/06/2016 21:04

I actually think that JC shouldn't give his position up. The issue here has nothing to do with Brexit or his position at the top of the Labour party but everything to do with who is a Blairite and the Chilcot report in two weeks time.

It's a very unfortunate timing but it does make sense for him to stay.

A bit more on the subject here

DoctoraNova · 29/06/2016 21:09

Just came on to share that Red! Argggggghhhhhh. He personally wants to bring down England.

"We are not above causing troubl"

He should be indicted for incitement of hatred.

noblegiraffe · 29/06/2016 21:15

Why does Arron banks want to bring down England? Confused

Hamishandthefoxes · 29/06/2016 21:32

The Arron banks thing is frightening. It's all a bit Trump bit to forward what seems to be an entirely racist agenda. He isn't behind Britain first etc is he?

Sixweekstowait · 29/06/2016 21:41

Plato. - yes yes yes to it all being about Chilcott. FWIW I do think JC is honourable and its a pity that the Government don't have one member that I could ever use that word about

GingerIvy · 29/06/2016 21:44

Tomorrow's front page: 'Scotland's voice is being heard' ... Sturgeon finds open doors at historic Brussels talks
9:20 PM - 29 Jun 2016

That's a bit misleading as a headline, isn't it? Her voice was heard, but she they've said no negotiations and if UK leaves, Scotland leaves.

noblegiraffe · 29/06/2016 21:47

I do think JC is honourable even though he takes money from Hamas?

Hamishandthefoxes · 29/06/2016 21:48

Bourdic, I think Sarah Wollaston appears honourable. Feel free to correct me though if I'm wrong - I couldn't think of anyone else!

RedToothBrush · 29/06/2016 21:50

I get the distinct impression that The Arron Banks Lizard Party perhaps wants to be to Britain First as the UKIP is to BNP.

As in the shiny slightly more presentable face of Nasty Shit.

The parallel with Corbyn's momentum shows that he thinks he can harness that type of feeling to the right.

Dare I say, Hitler Youth for a new generation against the intellectual left communists movements... Yuk Godwin

How the fuck do we deal with it? He's right, it can't be facts, facts, facts.... It has to be emotional and honest to challenge to the underlying problems.

A united front...

.... where is this going to come from?

Hmm.

Hamish - I didn't think she was a member of the Government - is she? But apropos of her, I was a bitShock when she changed sides because of the £350m false claim - I rather thought there should have been more to her views than just that. I do generally rate here though - but not as much as I used to.

DoctoraNova · 29/06/2016 21:58

I get the impression he has an inferiority complex about the Old Etonian crew because he went to a "second rate boarding school", and wants to destroy the Tories because of some personal insult from William Hague at the time of the founding of UKIP. He grew up in South Africa and married a Russian, has a personal assets of an estimated 1-200 million, and feels more African than European, by his own admission.

He's not a friend of England.

RedToothBrush · 29/06/2016 22:04

Arron Banks - A very rich man with an enormous chip on his shoulder but enough money and contacts to fund that chip.

That's some scary shit.

I hadn't thought of Chilcott and actually that is a good argument for Cornyn to stay on. Labour need to own up to their nefarious past and apologise properly. He's probably the man to do it.

But then, they still need to move on, because I'm never forgiving Corbyn for his pathetic showing during the referendum campaign.
