BBC:
UKIP MP Douglas Carswell urges need for 'right tone' in Brexit negotiations

UKIP MP Douglas Carswell hints that he may be unimpressed with his party leader Nigel Farage's behaviour in the European Parliament earlier.

He's 52, and about 3 or 4 months younger than Brad.

GingerIvy · 28/06/2016 16:14

So Carswell is floating the idea that "swagger in, piss 'em off, then sit down" is NOT the way to go?

MitzyLeFrouf · 28/06/2016 16:16

I wouldn't fancy either Farage or Juncker in a fight. They'd have some bloke called something like Fat Gav to do their scrapping for them. They'd just stand on the sideline cheering Fat Gav on.

RedToothBrush · 28/06/2016 16:16

Pat Glass the new shadow education secretary shares a letter to her local party chairman, saying she will not contest her seat at the next election.

The letter says that seeing that a General Election could come as early as October 2016, she wanted to give them as much time as possible to prepare and select another candidate.

OP posts:
MitzyLeFrouf · 28/06/2016 16:16

Carswell and Farage are sworn foes aren't they?

GingerIvy · 28/06/2016 16:17

I saw that letter, but I got the impression she was just preparing in case of a GE, not that she necessarily expected one, and didn't want to leave them in the lurch.

RedToothBrush · 28/06/2016 16:18

And then pretend Fat Gav was nothing to do with them Mitzy?!

Exactly, Fat Gav will take the fall. He's loyal is Gav.

DoinItFine · 28/06/2016 16:20

LOL, I just saw it was 20 pages. I thought that was our lot Grin

I usually leave threads at around the 10 page mark.

Sorry about that.

Maybe it should be a splitter's thread, based on the Juncker v Forage punch up.

Sort the bureaucrats from the populists!

RedToothBrush · 28/06/2016 16:21

Fate of Corbyn expected at 4.30pm.

‎@faisalislam

Half an hour ago only 18 Labour MPs hadn't voted in the no confidence vote - mainly COrbyn supporters rushed in at last moment
4.04pm

Interestingly I understand Corbyn MPs did end up voting, had been suggestions they would not as part of effort to delegitimise motion
4.11pm

Hmm....

OP posts:
DoinItFine · 28/06/2016 16:22

New non-EU rules.

Grin

I feel genuinely bad for Fat Gav 😢

Fat Gav is the loser in all this.

Taking punches so rich men who despise him can play games with each other.

MitzyLeFrouf · 28/06/2016 16:23

Je suis Fat Gav

(although am low carbing at the moment)

RedToothBrush · 28/06/2016 16:29

Sky reporting that Corbyn has lost the vote overwhelmingly.

I think I should take up being a fortune teller. I've been having a good week.

OP posts:
DoinItFine · 28/06/2016 16:30

Je suis Gav Gros

(Only official EU languages accepted under 2016 Character Names Directive)

DoinItFine · 28/06/2016 16:31

Did you predict Brexit?

MitzyLeFrouf · 28/06/2016 16:33

Jeremy needs to GO!

MitzyLeFrouf · 28/06/2016 16:33

Gav Gros v Fat Gav

RedToothBrush · 28/06/2016 16:36

I had serious doubts about Remain winning. The betting was wrong, and I did pick up on that. I picked up on a few other things too. I thought it would be incredibly close. I could see the way it was going.

I was blinded by my own desire for Remain to win more than anything.

DH is in despair. Corbyn gone 170 to 40 votes.
He points out that the Labour Party members felt he was the only leader elected by the people.
He now thinks that will loose even more votes to UKIP.

OP posts:
RedToothBrush · 28/06/2016 16:37

sorry 172 to 40

OP posts:
Chalalala · 28/06/2016 16:37

I'm Irish

Oops sorry!

(I mean, sorry I assumed. Not sorry that you're Irish. Obviously. Grin)

MitzyLeFrouf · 28/06/2016 16:38

Clinging on will just be egotistical and party suicide!

RedToothBrush · 28/06/2016 16:39

Corbyn labelling it a 'Blairite Coup'.
