To not be able to speak to my near neighbours who voted leave?

My children's future has been put at stake. Our economy risks ruin. Our relatively -well-off neighbours in a place with nearly full employment and very low recent immigration (local care companies and NHS are desperate for staff) have voted leave. They are only around fifty.

I'm gobsmacked.

The irony is that the small business they are in is affected by the growth of China as an economic powerhouse. So why on earth do they feel that leaving the EU gives them more power? It gives them less.

I am so angry and feel so let down by my country. These people, and people like them ahem destroyed my hopes for a continued peace in Europe.

How on earth am I expected to talk to them on an equal footing, knowing what they have done through their own greed?

Ok but I suppose if you say there has been sock puppetry on a thread, without naming said sock puppet, then it is only natural for those who have been engaging on a thread to wonder if they have wasted their time with that sock puppet.

Yes, you're being unreasonable. Your neighbour is entitled to their own views, just as you are. I voted to remain but I'm taking it on the chin and looking at what will happen next. In future it's probably best to avoid any political conversations as they're likely to feel just as strongly as you and it will probably end with bad feeling.

Tea, that is the thing. There will still be harder elements in the EU if we leave. Participating is a better way to deal with it.

No, MrsGlow - it's someone pretending to be someone else and agreeing with themselves. So someone sets up two or three names and agrees with themselves on a thread, pretending to be other posters. (I've only lately worked that out myself, after quite a long time)

Totally awkward at work today - have barely spoken with the person who was excited to tell me first thing this morning they voted Leave and thought I did the same. Not being unreasonable at all OP.

My Chinese MIL voted Leave. We found out over dinner. Even my FIL was surprised. We're confused as to why but people need to work to get long and not make judgements based on one voting decision.

What does it say about you that you don't respect their right to choose! Isn't that what democracy is all about? Shame on you this is a time for everyone to pull together not to sling mud and be judgemental!
