Few threads started by those happy about this. I have decided to no further rain on their parade - they are entitled to their opinions . BUT anyone who feels otherwise ...welcome

How on earth do they know which ages voted which way? I didn't tick a box saying how old I am.

Bookaboo · 25/06/2016 10:11

Your voting slip gets an allocated number that can be linked back to you, I'm not sure with how much info

ggirl · 25/06/2016 10:14

Had an awkward day at work , I'm a community nurse and all of my patients yesterday voted out. That stopped the conversation dead.

LaundryFairy · 25/06/2016 10:35

Bookaboo - they wouldn't have got the data from ballot papers. The unique numbers are only there in case an investigation into voting fraud is needed.

On Ashcroft's website he says where the data comes from:

"The UK has voted to leave the European Union. On referendum day I surveyed 12,369 people after they had voted to help explain the result – who voted for which outcome, and what lay behind their decision."

MaterofDragons · 25/06/2016 11:48

I don't know anyone who voted Leave and I'm very happy about that.

My sons therapist is from the EU and I felt ashamed when I greeted her yesterday. She was devastated by the result and now feels all British people have secretly resented her from the beginning.

Never have I sworn so much. And I can swear...

I did guffaw when someone told me that Cornwall asked if they could still keep getting their eyes grant money please?

whydidhesaythat · 25/06/2016 15:33

Thanks for this thread. I'm feeling worse today and cried

I was in Czechoslovakia when it broke up in1991., people genuinely feared war. It was the promise of joining the EU, which Havel passionately believed in, that saved the day

Is there a thread on what we can and should do next?

whydidhesaythat · 25/06/2016 15:34

Sturgeon says she is seeking a way for Scotland to join the EU anyway. Can anyone blame her?

Kidnapped · 25/06/2016 15:58

I've cancelled our account with a local fuel supplier who felt he had something to say to me yesterday.

Already told one of our tradesmen not to bother coming back.

And I will be considering very carefully where my money will be ending up.

The joys of the free market. Smile

ohdogoaway · 25/06/2016 16:27

Mother I agree: however much I feel like the scots should tell the rest of us to do one.
Someone should start a thread exploring a new political party. I seriously see an opportunity for people to fill a vacuum in the political landscape. Just like UKIP did but for those who now wish to get back to the EU if we can't strike a decent deal. I also think there is room between the torys and labour - which used to be the libdems but is now UKIP - maybe a left of centre alternative to UKIP? Names anyone ?

Feeling utterly miserable here too. Not helped by all the idiotic threads from utter fools who voted leave and are now shitting themselves at the consequences Sad Angry

KERALA1 · 25/06/2016 21:53

Yes, them and the " hello trees hello sky everything will be fine chill out" brigade. They don't even understand what they have done.

Brummyjax123 · 25/06/2016 22:40

I am seriously ashamed of the result by the UK on the EU referendum. I thought I lived (mostly, apart from the odd idiot) in a liberal, peaceful, diverse, global and accepting country. How wrong was I judging by this result. I am seriously saddened by this and the divided country that the disinfectant of sunlight has shone on this nation.

NoMoreGrimble · 25/06/2016 23:15

Feel sick and very angry. How dare DC offer such an ill thought out referendum. On a personal note as the daughter of immigrants today I was made to feel unwelcome in my own country. First time I have ever experienced racism.

PeaceOfWildThings · 26/06/2016 13:48

So sorry to hear that, Grimble. Flowers

This morning, I tried to get my little Remain poster out of the recycling to put back up in the window. It's got ripped and wet and stuck to something, so unusable.

Can someone design a good A4 poster for us to copy and print off, that's apt for the times?

ohdogoaway · 26/06/2016 14:43

Sorry grimble - sadly I think it's going to get worse before it gets better

We've been saying here that a new party is needed too. A party for the liberally minded, not the right wing new Tories nor far left Corbynites, who want to remain in Europe.

Mumsnet party...? 😀

ohdogoaway · 26/06/2016 16:22

Laio sign me up. Although now the libdems have said they will run on a pro EU platform but I think that has to address the issues that caused people to feel so disenfranchised to gain traction

OP posts:
MelanieCheeks · 26/06/2016 16:24

Oh no, mmumsnet is too split on teh issue!

Although I did use a MN favourite saying when discussing with my husband.

UK: We're so fabulous, the rest of the world will love us no matter what!

Rest of the world: Are you on glue?

ohdogoaway · 26/06/2016 16:25

Vipers party ?

I was in Yugoslavia when Slovenia and Croatia voted for their independence. Remember what happened next ?

So, you know, it could be worse and all that. Not that I am feeling it myself all that much right now!

FranHastings · 26/06/2016 16:52

Devastated about the result still and can't believe the wide-eyed naivety about our standing and future from the Leave side.

I feel we are on the brink of huge social unrest, especially if they keep back peddling. All we need is a hot August and we will have riots.
