Just thought I would start a thread for anyone who has applied for a place at BRIT school

Yes I don’t think they did more than two workshops a day for MT year 10 entry - so that is around 40 a day for three days.

Hi @Pandorapearl , I only know the numbers for theatre: they take 50 kids at KS4 and 75 for sixth form. Everybody has to apply again, but I gather that students who've already been there for two years have the advantage of being known (and trained by the school) for two years. However, not everyone stays. So there are definitely 25+ places for new applicants. From talking to teachers from the theatre department I did get the sense though that it was easier to get in at KS4. Less applicants, more spaces. But of course still possible to get in age 16. Give it your best shot and good luck!

DS is Y11 and has just auditioned for 6th form in Theatre.

Although there are currently 50 doing Theatre - they're not all applying for Theatre at 6th form. Of his friends currently in his class some are applying for music, some for Applied Theatre and some for Productions Arts so the full 50 aren't applying for the 75 places in Theatre at KS5. Some of the his classmates are already professionals (been doing West End since they were kids) and are going back out to work so not coming back and others are off to do other things. I think they said about 80% have applied for 6th form but not all of them have applied for the course they are currently doing at KS4.

Ah that is interesting, thank you for your responses. As someone else said, I guess all you can do is try your best & hope you stand out. Ultimately I am sure that the school make the right decisions, so if you don't get in, it might be that it just isn't the right environment for you. Still hoping 😊

We didn't go at the end to the audition - decided I am uncomfortable with the idea of DD at 14 years old commuting 1 and a half hours each direction on a daily basis

Hello- me again. Does anybody know the format of the workshops and/or interviews for sixth form? The strand it tv and media production if that helps :)

So happy to have found this thread. But my stomach is in knots reading it.

My DD (non-binary) did the KS4 music audition on Monday (20/3) and they didn't think it went well because the interviewers didn't let on much. Fingers crossed. It's so hard to wait.

Also we're out of catchment so if it's only 25 places for music at KS4 then there are only 2-3 places available. And I wonder if they try to balance girls and boys. I did find a video somewhere online about someone who had gotten in off the waiting list.

Hi @londonluxie , nice to have you here! We're all in this waiting game together. Seems already like an eternity and there are weeks to go...

I wouldn't read too much into interviewers not letting on much. At that point they're looking at so many kids and the decision making process is only beginning. They should neither encourage nor dash hopes, no? We found them warm and friendly (and that's what I've heard from most people) but not indicating anything.

It is so hard but all we can do is wait at this stage...
And keeping our fingers crossed for our talented kids, of course! xx

Anyone else get an email from admissions today apologising for the delay in communicating their decisions? Not sure if it just went to sixth form applicants. Good to get an update. I wonder if they’ve had a lot of calls asking when decisions would come out? DS’s meeting was 27/2 and was told he’d find out “soon” but we weren’t expecting to find out before April as a friend’s meeting isn’t until next Monday.

@truelove I didn’t get anything for our KS4 application. My DD had her interview on 1/3 but we knew that the wait would be long as the last interview day was on 20/3, so I’m guessing we’d only hear mid April?

So pleased to hear all of your good news. Are they all year 10 places? My daughter only did her workshop today for year 12, so we will still have a fair wait ahead of us.

Wow! Congratulatons @Kezza197 !! When was the interview day for you? Just had ours for music KS4 on 20/3.

And @Nunsmet22 and @Pegjes44 I'm also curious if that's KS4 or KS5.
