Just thought I would start a thread for anyone who has applied for a place at BRIT school

Hi @Pegjes44 , we're waiting to hear for KS4 theatre strand too - do you have any idea how many kids they invite to audition?

it’s stressful this waiting.

It is actually more stressful than I thought... That's why we've been trying to find some intel on numbers etc., to busy our heads while waiting. But these statistics seem to be a well guarded secret!

My child has applied for visual arts. Just waiting now.....

Apparently KS5 Music audition went out this week so hopefully KS4 Theatre will be next week

apparently theatre KS5 invitations will go out this week giving two weeks to prepare (according to DS who is in Y11 there and asked his teacher when they would be hearing).

KS 5 going in to 6th form...

DS is already attending KS4 and has applied for 6th form and is desperate for news. They have to start the whole audition/application process again.

We just got he Theatre strand post 16 email.

We've got our invitation too today!
Not sure if it's true that everyone within catchment gets an audition as somebody said on here (we are in catchment) but I like to think of it as an achievement anyway! :-)

Great News @Nunsmet22 It's definitely an achievement. Not sure everyone gets an audition because they've got around 2000 applications each year (for all the strands).

Same here! On Friday, workshop at 9 am, interview a bit later. You? We could have a coffee while they're doing the workshop. Never too early to start mumsnetworking! ;-)

Let's hope they offer refreshments for all the parents hanging out while their kids are doing the workshop!

Hi, our DD just got an invite to the Theatre strand's workshop in March for Y10. She has applied on her own and is very keen on going. We live about an hour an a half commute time away (not straightforward route, either, several changes), so are less keen.

How close are you to the school?

Hi @OKmum , we are in Crystal Palace with good bus connections to the school (takes no more than 45 min to get there). I understand your concern and would probably share it if I were in the same situation. On the other hand there is just no school like BRIT and from what I've seen it's an amazing place for creative kids to come into their own. Plus, they'll be constantly learning lines - no better place to do that than on a long commute! ;-)
Something to also discuss with the school during the interview, I'd think.
