Just thought I would start a thread for anyone who has applied for a place at BRIT school

Sorry jumping on this thread as my DD interested in applying for MT for Sept 24.

We are also looking at Arts Ed and London school of performing arts.

Any other schools we should consider which should be within 30 mins from Charing Cross, Waterloo or London Bridge ?

Other than Brit..
Base Performing Arts are starting courses from this year I think they are in Vauxhall.
Millennium Performing Arts Baker Street
Also a bit further than your stated distance but Emil Dale in Hitchin.
D&B Performing Arts in Downham (train to Bromley , Beckenham or Ravensbourne)
Bodens New Barnet
Only funded one of those is Bodens
Emil Dale will be cheaper than the others but still fee paying.
It's basically the funded btech but they add on lots of extra contact hours which they charge for.
I'm sure there's more but these are the ones that spring to mind.

Tell a lie Emil Dale has gone up!
ED and Base still way more affordable compared to Arts Ed.

Just joining this thread quite late in terms of days left I to appeal for my daughter who was not offered a place at the Brit School. Does anyone on here know what the threshold score would have been for the music stream (singing). The rejection letter is so vague and just trying to work out whether to appeal or not. They don't give much away - which i understand as they know exactly who they are looking for. My daughter has applied for entry for Year 10. Very difficult to prove and state why she wasn't her best on the day of the interview and workshop. Any ideas or experience. Many thanks

@Hansun my daughter also didn't get a place for music KS4 (we're out of catchment) and we're not appealing so we'll have feedback...but it won't be for 6 weeks so it won't be of any help for your grounds for appeal. But in the guidelines it says that nerves aren't a reason for appeal. Maybe recovering from an illness would be? No idea.

We applied for KS4 MUSIC but are out of catchment area ! Was told in the interview that places limited for out if catchment.

Do you know how many spots they have per strand for out of catchment area ?

Just an update, spoke to admissions today regarding feedback for my DD when on reserve list. Was told that you can get feedback but need to request within the 14 days from initial email.
Also, not sure if applies but there is a separate reserve list for in and out of catchment.
Hope that helps some of us waiting.

I think it's up to 10%, meaning it would be just a couple of kids for Music. Good luck! 🍀

Thanks for the update @RS30 . Did they say how many are on the reserve list? Last week it was 19 but not sure if that was total for KS5 MT or just for in catchment.

@truelove they didn’t give anything away with numbers I’m afraid. Didn’t feel I could ask but wish I had!

No worries @RS30 . Tomorrow will be the 2 week deadline for accepting/declining places so I may contact them next week to see if there's been any waiting list movement yet. I will be that annoying parent! 😂

My DD got offered a spot on music KS4 !!! That was the longest wait ever. We have accepted the spot and filled all the forms in. X

We were/are in complete shock 😂 we were out if catchment and really thought it would be a no. DD had already told people she hadn't got In because we had waited so long, she had her interview on the 1sr

Whoops pressed send before I was supposed to 😂 ! She had her interview on the 1st of March.

She is absolutely delighted and we are so so proud ! Now the drama of the new clothes she needs for school 😂

Wow, what a rollercoaster! And what a terribly long wait. My DS had his interview on the 3rd and we heard back over three weeks ago.

Yes, the clothes...😂I'd feel she deserves a bit of a treat...😂

Wow fantastic news @Rochestemum !! What a long wait though. Assumed all offers went out at the same time but obviously not. Enjoy your celebrations (and clothes shopping!!) x

@Rochestemum well done to your DD! Mine went on the 1/3 for VAD and we found out weeks ago so can’t begin to imagine how long your wait had been!

Had the shock of our life when we got the email ! Just assumed she hadn't got in. Still they say no news is good news. X

For those waiting on the Reserve list - we just received a phone call offering our DS a place on the Dance strand P16!!
