Just thought I would start a thread for anyone who has applied for a place at BRIT school

So sorry @londonluxie . Hope you can recover and regroup over Easter.
For everyone who's pondering an appeal I'd recommend watching Constance's video on Youtube 'How I got into the Brit School!', it's been mentioned on this thread before. Also worth noting that you can't ask for feedback if you're appealing, it's one or the other.
My DS was determined to appeal if he hadn't been offered a place (not sure on what grounds though) that's why we'd looked into it already.

Thanks so much for the support. Does anyone know if KS4 kids get the refusal email too? Would be nicer to wait until she’s home to tell her.

My daughter got the ks4 acceptance so I would think yes. I got into her email and deleted it so I could tell her. So you have access to your daughters email? X

Yesterday, @yllek said the refusal email just went to them and not their DC but not sure if that has since changed. It would be a kinder way of breaking the news 🙁

Thanks for tagging me @truelove … @londonluxie I called this morning about that and they said for the 14+ because they were younger they were doing it this way because they all did so wonderfully and they didn't want them to feel distressed with a rejection. Of course not knowing this earlier, when I saw my DD, I ran over to her saying I'm so sorry you didn't get in (yes, really made things worse)

Student Services said that KS4 got yes emails straight to them and no's to the parent — not to the child

It's so tough that the only other options at KS4 are not funded.
There are more alternatives at ks5

Email has just landed - reserve list for DS KS5 MT. We thought it was a long shot as he'd messed up his second audition monologue. Feeling strangely relieved and not as disappointed as I thought I would. He seems fine too. Plan B it is then for now. Good luck to others still waiting x

Hi @Primrose44 Yes, SE London based. He has a place already at London College of PA in Abbey Wood and we're looking at one in North London in a couple of weeks. Neither are easy to get to but then again, Brit isn't either. Spoke to the admissions team. They don't yet have reserve list numbers and they said when they do have the list, they can't give an indication of where people are on the list - the list is reviewed as and when places become available. We know of a friend who's just been offered Brit but they're going to go elsewhere. A vague glimmer of hope but not holding my breath.

We are also SE London.
Have you looked at Bodens?
My daughter got a place last year for MT but chose Brit music instead but it was a v close call.
Dd loved the workshop there and the teachers.

That's where we're looking at next month. Have heard good things about it. Think the journey will be the only downside.

By no means a lesser option than Brit. Adam Boden really inspired DD on her visits there.
Yes journey long but do able
Dd used to travel from Farnborough Orpington to High Barnet for her secondary school. It will be less hours of course than ks4.

We're in Bromley 👋Did you look at Miskin at all, near Dartford? Again, another difficult journey from here on public transport so we discounted it.

No didn't look Dartford not my favourite place and difficult to get to.
Dd got into Elam and Arts Ed too but would have chosen Bodens over these. It was only that she wanted to branch more into music than MT at the time so chose Brit. Still loves MT will definitely consider Bodens for foundation.

We got reserve for MT KS5 but we are out of catchment. Do they have different waiting lists for those in catchment and those out of catchment?

That's my understanding @RS30 As the reserve list hadn't been uploaded to their system when I rang yesterday, I said I'd call back after Easter so I'll ask about in/out of catchment too. It would just be helpful to have an idea of how many are on the list to manage expectations. DS mentioned appealing yesterday but I'm not sure what grounds we could use.

Agree re appealing. Think it's better to move on now. Hoping DS falls in love with the place we are looking at next month. Do you have a plan B in place?

She has a place at a local PA academy but think she was hoping to train in London.

Quick question : is it worth appealing if you are waitlisted ? One of my dd’s friend is in this predicament
