Anyone interested in a £300 by Easter ebay selling thread?

carrotsandcelery · 05/01/2012 23:05

Inspired by the threads before Christmas, I was hoping we could get another thread going to motivate us as we sell and ask each other questions as we go along.

I am hoping to start selling again once the dc go back to school next week.

Anyone else want to join me?

I guess that's the key, make sure the long-standing things are listed at 99p otherwise you pay to relist after the first one, don't you?

carrotsandcelery · 08/01/2012 21:54

I think you get one free relist and then you pay but I am not sure about that.

YankNCock · 08/01/2012 22:01

Can I join please? Not actually sure I've got £300 worth of stuff around here, but I will give it my best. I've spent the last week clearing out the spare room. 12 weeks pregnant with DC2 and trying to reshuffle everything around in preparation!

If I find out I'm having a girl (scan in Feb), I'll have the very-obviously-boy stuff to bundle up and sell since this is definitely the last one.

roguepixie · 08/01/2012 22:22

Just finished. Managed to get 60+ items on, including clothes, dvd's, purses, bag etc. Already started to get bods on some of it so hopefully a lot of it will go. Am off to bed shortly...I'm exhausted Smile, I haven't been away from the laptop for more than 20 minutes all day Confused.

CointreauVersial · 08/01/2012 22:49

60+ items? Jeepers creepers, I listed 11 and that took ages.

roguepixie · 08/01/2012 22:55

I know...I must be insane Confused. I must admit that it has taken me a fair few hours today. The plus side to having is much listed is that I can just relist at lower prices and/or relist again on free insertion weekends - a lot quicker!!!

ragged · 09/01/2012 01:14

Me, I need a kick up the arse to get motivated to join in.

carrotsandcelery · 09/01/2012 06:55

rogue Yikes! Shock Well done though. Is that the entire contents of your house?

I have listed 6 items Blush and have no watchers or bids or anything yet.

ragged by knee high boot just connected - Monday night is a good night for it. I challenge you to list one item!

sleepevader · 09/01/2012 07:10

Can I join? Listed 13 items yesterday. All money will go towards a little holiday.

Used the scheduler trick too.

My only tip is to send everything 2nd class recorded as you get seller protection.

sleepevader · 09/01/2012 07:12

Oops make that 16 items. Got a watcher on 2 items.

Got about 4 items to list on next free listings.

roguepixie · 09/01/2012 07:23

carrots - sadly no, I am have merely been an expert at filling my house with stuff and am now at the point where I am in need of a major de-clutter.

I also have DParents and DMIL who think that we are the local recycling centre ... so all their junk stuff comes here as well!!! It's not really junk but it clogs up my house so I am dedicating myself to clearing it all out and replacing some of the money I have spent over the years. My poor DH...he hates clutter so it alternately horrified at all the stuff we I have accumulated and delerious with joy that it is being sold Grin.

Actually, my DSIS is the best one...she offloads Prada and the like to me to Ebay Shock, sadly I am not in the same market as she Smile so can only watch as it passes swiftly through my hands Grin. She is half my size so no filtching it for my own use either Confused.

Runoutofideas · 09/01/2012 07:39

Can I join you please? My house is bursting with "treasures" and need to shift some of it. Have sold on ebay before but only bits and pieces. Is anyone selling toys at the moment or are buyers not interested because it is just after Christmas?

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 09/01/2012 10:31

Good question runoutofideas Shoudl I concentrate my efforts on clothes atm and try to get rid of toys later in the year?

PollyMorfic · 09/01/2012 10:37

I'm saving spring/summer clothes till March, and winter clothes till September. They do get better prices if you sell them at the appropriate season.

I've got some PSP games listed on Amazon, and about to list some on ebay as well. Some other electricals and computer bits to go on over the next few weeks, they're not as seasonal as clothes.

CointreauVersial · 09/01/2012 16:55

Woohoo! One item with a bid and a question regarding shipping abroad, two items with watchers.

Sudden burst of enthusiasm! I'm going to list a few more for this evening.

carrotsandcelery · 09/01/2012 17:14

Yay Cointreau! That is a start!

I have listed toys but brand new ones on Buy It Now - Playmobil and Lego duplicates.

I will let you know if there is any interest. There has been none so far.

sybilfaulty · 09/01/2012 19:52

May I join you please? Have a spare room full of crap which is for me to sort / charity / Ebay, and so far have done nothing. My DS is ill just now so once he is back on form and doesn't need a lap all day, I'll be able to get going properly with the photos.

Fergoose, you were very helpful to me before Christmas with my Coast shrug buyer who couldn't wait for the delivery. Happy to report that she got the item and even posted lovely feedback about how helpful I'd been. All down to your good advice, so thanks very much for that.

Tortoise, your listing tip is excellent.

carrotsandcelery · 09/01/2012 22:13

I have finally got some watchers. Hurrah!

OP posts:
MyOhMyOh · 10/01/2012 08:40

Yay! 'Tis exciting having watchers!

I have a potential prob with the first bundle I sold. The buyer emailed me straight away and asked if she could pay via PayPal on Tuesday morning and I said ok,I'll send bundle when payment received. So this morning I get an email confirmation of payment received from her followed by an email from PayPal saying the payment was unauthorised, I had to respond to a dispute and had to provee more info. I went to PP, filled in the form and then got an email straight away saying that the amount had been refunded to the seller.

Is this a typical thing? I was thinking maybe she didnt have enough money in her account or something, as I havent sent the parcel yet. Confused

fergoose · 10/01/2012 08:45

you didn't click on a link from an email giving your paypal info did you? - all sounds very suspicious

I think you should go to paypal.co.uk and change your password immediately. It all sounds very dodgy, I have never heard of being asked to provide info and a payment being refunded immediately like that. What info were you asked to provide?

MyOhMyOh · 10/01/2012 08:57

It's weird isnt it? I just went to PP and changed my password and the transaction from the buyer is there, recorded as being reveresed, so it's a genuine PP thing.

The info it asked for was had I posted the goods yet, that sort of thing and a brief explanation of what happened.

fergoose · 10/01/2012 09:06

bizarre - I guess you will need to contact the buyer to find out when they will pay. And if they do pay make sure you send the items with a signature incase the payment is reversed later.

MyOhMyOh · 10/01/2012 09:11

Yes, have emailed her asking her to clear things up. I think maybe she didnt have enough funds in to cover payment. Postage is recorded delivery, thanks to, I think, your advice on another thread! Smile

fergoose · 10/01/2012 09:21

hope it works out :)

DunderMifflin · 10/01/2012 09:26

I've been setting stuff aside to ebay but assumed no one would be buying anything at the moment because everyone's skint from Christmas - am I the only one?!

I love the scheduling trick because I've been wondering how I could list everything without actually sending it live straight away - fab, thanks!
