Anyone interested in a £300 by Easter ebay selling thread?

carrotsandcelery · 05/01/2012 23:05

Inspired by the threads before Christmas, I was hoping we could get another thread going to motivate us as we sell and ask each other questions as we go along.

I am hoping to start selling again once the dc go back to school next week.

Anyone else want to join me?

Dd (11) has just removed half her wardrobe so I will have quite a lot to list over the next wee while. I will need a big boot to get it listed though as the house needs some attention having spent the last 2 days in dd's bedroom unearthing it.

Relisted unsold items will try and do more tomorrow or monday. I need to raise £450 to pay for my Mum and Brother to come over from Turkey to visit as they have no money and haven't been back to UK since they moved there 6 years ago.

carrotsandcelery · 07/04/2012 21:23

Tortoise that is a brilliant incentive to get listing. Surely it would be better to raise the cash to get all of you out there though [bugrin]

Tortoise · 07/04/2012 22:54

Think it would take me months to raise that much. Last time I looked into it price was around £1000 plus need passports for me and 3 dc, DS1 has his already). This is the cheaper option. Shame dad can't come too but he's recently been to.UK because his dad passed away. So he get the job of looking after their pets lol!

Tortoise · 08/04/2012 18:51

Pile of stuff photographed. Will list as much as I can and list the rest tomorrow.

carrotsandcelery · 08/04/2012 19:34

I have been scheduling listings on and off all day. Dd has been deep cleaning her bedroom so there is a lot to list just from that. It is taking ages but at least this time we have tomorrow as well. I would really like this stuff out of the house so I am trying to get as much of it done as I can.

I have prioritised the non 99p stuff as I can list it other weeks when there are no free listings.

As none of my listing end until next weekend can they count towards next time or is that cheating as they were all listed during this challenge?

carrotsandcelery · 08/04/2012 21:39

I think anything ending after tomorrow can count towards next time Iwish [bugrin]

I have listed loads and loads today and have more to do tomorrow. The extra day really does help.

I have some watchers already too. Yay!

How is everyone else getting on?

OP posts:
Tortoise · 08/04/2012 22:06

So far 50 items listed. Some of those were relists. Quite a lot to still do but will schedule them during day tomorrow.
I know DDs have clothes that don't fit that need sorting out but that can wait! Got some summery bits to do too might just take a chance and list them tomorrow. Anything to raise the money needed.

Tortoise · 08/04/2012 22:11

Just remembered DD2 has a mixed tub of ello she doesn't want. Will sort that tomorrow too.

carrotsandcelery · 08/04/2012 22:29

Tortoise that is weird because I listed a set of ello today [bushock] We will have to compare notes!

OP posts:
Tortoise · 08/04/2012 22:53

[bugrin] That's what reminded me lol! I thought I would have a peek at your listings!

carrotsandcelery · 09/04/2012 07:58

Aha! I forgot you could see them. Do they look ok? Do you think we are over ambitious with our Ponyville bundle? (I think we are but have researched and some bundles have sold for £10 more than that).

OP posts:
Tortoise · 09/04/2012 08:39

Yes they look fine. I would think about right price for pony stuff. It does sell well in bundles. DD2 had a load of it.

carrotsandcelery · 09/04/2012 09:33

Oh good. I am embarrassed by my crumpled clothing photos. I just couldn't face reironing it all. Fingers crossed with the Ponyville then. If dd's stuff sells then she is encouraged to declutter more [bugrin] Thanks Tortoise.

Well actually, I did notice that but didn't want to mentioned it. As you know ironed items do look better. I've started having the iron next to me on the floor then I can quickly iron the front before taking photo!

carrotsandcelery · 09/04/2012 11:10

I know. I am usually horribly uptight about the crumples but I was at the end of my tether yesterday and overwhelmed by the amount of stuff I had to get through [bublush]

mogs0 · 09/04/2012 17:50

I have come home early from my weekend away. I spent most of yesterday feeling stressed about the missing skirt so am going to hunt for it, get the house straight, list a ton of stuff then go back to our caravan at the end of the week!

I've got a couple of watchers on the things already listed but no bids yet.

I'm off to start the big search!

Tortoise · 09/04/2012 18:11

Good luck with the search mogs. I normally find things in the 1st place looked.

CointreauVersial · 09/04/2012 19:12

Oh dear, too busy this weekend to do anything apart from relists.

We did however tidy the loft in preparation for a car boot sale (car boot stuff is different to eBay stuff in my book), and I found a few gems to add to the eBay pile.

Top of the list are three Pippa dolls with lots of clothes, and in good condition. Lovingly played with by me in the 1970s! One of them is a "Penny" which seem to sell for £20+, so fingers crossed.... Also a stack of Wade Whimsies, but I think the DDs might have kidnapped them.

I will try to list them later today, but suspect I will run out of time.

carrotsandcelery · 09/04/2012 19:28

I have the same problem today Cointreau - I have loads to list but I have been to busy. I have had a great day with the dcs romping through the forest and rivers though [bugrin]

I will see if I can get a few done tonight.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 09/04/2012 19:28

I remember Pippa dolls. I had one on my Christmas list for YEARS and never got one [busad]

My phone is playing up on ebay. Written long description 5 times. When I click save it comes up no network available and wipes description. Pissed off with it now!

ragged · 09/04/2012 20:26

I had to change browsers to upload pix to Ebay today (heck if I know why). Thankfully all done, now. 23 items active. DH has culled a load of geeky & computer stuff I have all that now listed, most of it low spec by current standards, but includes almost 3 complete in working order PCs & tonnes of peripherals. Probably sell for 25p each [buangry].

So what's the verdict, does the next challenge start with listings that start from tomorrow onwards? I would otherwise suggest cut off by when funds were actually received (midnight Easter evening as cut off). Technically I only received £36 gross of fees from Ebay Jan-Easter. Should be able to beat that by July, anyway!

jardy · 09/04/2012 21:04

46 Items listed.A few watchers and one bid of £20.Thank you again for the inspiration.Found it hard work though, and my house is such a tip. However it is surprising what turns up under your bed and DH kindly gives me stuff, like mobile covers and football memorabilia.Good Luck to everyone!
