Anyone interested in a £300 by Easter ebay selling thread?

Inspired by the threads before Christmas, I was hoping we could get another thread going to motivate us as we sell and ask each other questions as we go along.

I am hoping to start selling again once the dc go back to school next week.

Anyone else want to join me?

I'm slowly getting a couple of watchers and bids. Jack wills shirt is on £12. My old sega game gear has a bid. Glad I started it high now. Doubt will get anymore bids.

carrotsandcelery · 29/03/2012 20:43

PurpleFrog I am planning a wardrobe clearout during the hols too. Dd has some stuff that will be going into its 3rd summer so I suspect it will be being listed. Even if it still fits on the waist the shorter skirts will be indecent by now.

Aghhh, someone is asking a refund for the boots which she says are not as described.TBH I thought the scuff at the front was part of the style,I really did,as the rest of the boots were perfect.I have fully refunded her, told her to keep them, and hope she doesn`t leave me negative feedback. She did say there were fab apart from the scuffy toes so lets hope she will be understanding.

CointreauVersial · 29/03/2012 22:48

The sold rabbit hutch is being collected tomorrow, but bed guy has gone very quiet since I refunded his Paypal payment! I suppose the bed can stay in the loft for as long as it takes, but I am wondering if he's wishing he hadn't bothered to bid. He lives miles away and doesn't have a car!

The schoolwear (all summer dresses, which I why I listed now) is attracting a fair amount of interest; I also have bids and watchers on a BNWT spring-weight girl's coat, and on a Monsoon girl's summer dress (always popular). This is my final week listing before Easter, so hoping for a good haul.

Tortoise · 30/03/2012 17:52

All my items end tonight and those that sell, and are paid for tonight, will be packaged up and sent tomorrow morning! Not huge amount of interest so.far.
Sold a bike Thursday for £5. I emailed last night asking if they can collect this weekend. No reply yet!

CointreauVersial · 30/03/2012 18:00

Rabbit hutch gone to new home; five of the items finishing Sunday have bids, so looking gooood.

mogs0 · 30/03/2012 18:10

I need help motivating myself.

I sold 20 items over tuesday and Wednesday night but spent all day Wednesday and Thursday in the hospital with ds. He's ok and home now but I just can't face packing it all up and getting it all to the post office tomorrow morning.

Someone emailed today asking if I'd posted their item yet and I replied telling them that ds had been ill but I'd try my best to get it sent out tomorrow. It needs to go with a courier though so more effort than popping up the road to the post office. I also need to email the other buyers to let them know their items will be a bit delayed. Is there a way of group emailing or do I have to do them individually?

I've got five toy units waiting to be collected by two buyers. One of them still has toys in though so need to get a move on and empty it Blush.

Oh well, we have been forced to stay home this weekend while ds recuperates so I'll have plenty of opportunity to pack up my sold items and maybe even get the next lot of stuff ready for listing...summer clothes next!

carrotsandcelery · 30/03/2012 19:39

mogs I hope ds is ok. Poor you. I suggest a Brew and a quiet night and it will all look a bit easier in the morning.

I am sorry but I can't offer any technical advice as I don't know the answers to your questions.

Big ((((hugs)))) coming your way though.

Want to say thank you for starting this thread. The Christmas thread motivated me as did this one. Even with 13 items unsold (as I was being greedy and had high minimum. My ebay total for last 60 days is Total sales:

£321.13.

So I am a happy easter bunny.

And everyone has paid except for one person who owes 4 pounds.

BreakOutTheKaraoke · 30/03/2012 21:37

Mogs, sorry to hear about your soon- hope all is better now?
I don't think there is any way to group email, but I just copy and paste the same message to everyone.

Well done Mirpuppet, that's a great total!

I have another 25 or so items listed, finish on Tuesday, and 10 will sell so far. I have a couple more piles to list, and need to sort out our drawers and wardrobes. 5 items to post tomorrow, 5 people left to pay.

CointreauVersial · 30/03/2012 21:43

Mogs, hope DS is OK, don't worry about your buyers, they will understand. Maybe offer to post first class.

Tortoise · 30/03/2012 21:49

Hope DS is ok mogs.
Sold few bits tonight. 4 have paid. 8 haven't. They have until the morning to pay or they will be waiting a while for their items!

EmmaCB1 · 30/03/2012 21:51

Everyone is doing really well, this thread is great! I am up to £282 but am having 'issues' with a buyer of some perfume so will drop back to £265 sadly. First of all she didn't pay until I opened a case with eBay. She replied saying sorry, she'd been on holiday, and paid that day. She has a bad eBay rating anyway, with some negatives and some comments removed by eBay, so I sent it recorded delivery when she'd only paid for 2nd class as I had a feeling she would say it hadn't arrived. I had half a mind to offer it to the second highest bidder and now I wish I had as she has since come back saying it leaked in transit and she wants a refund. Fankly, I don't believe her! It was on my desk all wrapped and ready to go for a few weeks before I listed it and when I posted it off it was fine. This kind of buyer makes me so cross, spoiling eBay for everyone else. She has opened a case with eBay so I guess I have to give her the benefit of the doubt and refund it. Grrrr!!

mogs0 · 31/03/2012 07:16

Thanks, everyone. Ds is fine. He had an abcess which had to be drained under GA. He's very sore now and the changing of the dressing sounds like agony Sad. Thankfully, it's only changed every other day so today is his 'day off'. On the plus side (for him), the doctor told him no school for two weeks...for me, that means a four week Easter holiday Shock with a wounded 9 year old!

mogs0 · 31/03/2012 07:24

Oh, and the point to my post, I have woken up reasonably early this morning so am aiming to get everything packed and addressed to take to the post office when it opens at 9. I'll pack the item that needs to be couriered and get it round to the collect+ place round the corner then I should have caught up.

EmmaCB1 - how annoying re perfume buyer. I would ask the buyer to take photos of where they think the perfume leaked from and also of the packaging. If they're not telling the truth then obviously this might be a bit tricky and they might not be able to make a claim. Also, if they send photos then you'll be able to see what amount of perfume is left in the bottle. You could say that you need photographic evidence to make a claim with Royal Mail.

Someone recently claimed that a DVD I had sent was cracked in the middle. I was 99% sure that it wasn't as i had taken everything out of the case to photograph for the listing. I asked them to return it and that when i'd checked the security marks, I'd give them a full refund. I haven't heard from them since and that was over three weeks ago.

Tortoise · 31/03/2012 08:18

Fab idea from mogs there. I've had to send a photo to an Ebayer before to prove item was damaged on arrival.

Still waiting for 5 payments.

mogs0 · 31/03/2012 11:51

Oh my goodness, it has taken me hours to get 12 items located, packed, addressed and posted Shock! I have managed to lose one of the items. I know it's here somewhere so have emailed the buyer asking for a couple more days to find it and get it posted. I still have one more item to be packed for a courier and just can't face it as there are lots of bits. I need to double check all the bits a the and the whole lot needs to be bubble wrapped before being boxed and taken to the collect+ place.

I've emailed all the other buyers to apologise for the delay in posting.

Got one buyer picking up 4 toy units tomorrow and another coming Monday. I hope my house looks less cluttered when this lot have gone because it's been hard work this time.

Whilst looking for my missing item, I found tons of Summer clothes that need to be listed so I might just concentrate on them for the next couple of weeks rather than the usual broad selection of crap treasure that I normally list.

Tortoise · 31/03/2012 13:16

Got everything sent off minus 3 that haven't paid and bike being picked up later. Be glad to have a break from ebay for week or two lol.

CointreauVersial · 31/03/2012 14:08

I am not sure what to do about the bed I sold last Sunday. I refunded his Paypal payment as it was collection-only, but since then have had no contact from him. At what point do I open a dispute? It seems a bit mean to call it an "unpaid item" case, because he did pay, just not in the right way! I think I will give him the benefit of the doubt for a few more days......

jardy · 31/03/2012 15:37

So sorry Mogs to hear about your son but glad he is on the mend.I think I am going to be pretty near the 300 pound target, thank you carrotandcelery

ragged · 31/03/2012 15:40

Can you pull a phone number from Ebay contact details for buyer, Cointreau? He must think he's paid & hasn't been online since.

ragged · 31/03/2012 15:45

Mogs that's why I get very peeved with (a few, admittedly) people who claim that non-business sellers should only charge P+P charge = Royal Mail postage & not a penny more). Leaving aside Paypal fees, look how much time & effort you've put in!

I must admit I have a lot of stuff awaiting sale of some kind, and is tempting to just dump it all at charity shop instead to have my room space back (wistful). I do have a big house so am not suffering, really, just would like to see the back of so much... stuff.

Oh, and I lost a posting receipt yesterday Angry. Hope that one doesn't go missing!

jardy · 31/03/2012 15:52

Thrilled to report that I have actually sold 351 pounds in total since joining the thread.(forgot to add on to the total amount my debits through using my paypal funds to buy)
I have learnt so much, and unlike the Weight Loss threads,I have persevered, thanks for starting this thread,it`s been great for me,and I love my little rustic shed, bought with Ebay profits!Smile

CointreauVersial · 31/03/2012 16:20

Ragged, he phoned me a couple of times, and the second time he spoke to me I told him I'd be refunding the Paypal as I needed him to pay cash on collection. He seemed OK with that, and said he was trying to sort out a van to collect the bed. That was on Monday......

EmmaCB1 · 31/03/2012 20:34

Oh thanks mogs that is a great idea. Maybe it will stop her in her tracks. I am using my husband's eBay account so I don't want to earn his first bit of negative feedback after hundreds of transactions, but at the same time I hate the idea of her just mucking around for a laugh.

Good luck this weekend everyone. Our homes will soon be clutter free and our bank balances healthy-ish!
