Anyone interested in a £300 by Easter ebay selling thread?

carrotsandcelery · 05/01/2012 23:05

Inspired by the threads before Christmas, I was hoping we could get another thread going to motivate us as we sell and ask each other questions as we go along.

I am hoping to start selling again once the dc go back to school next week.

Anyone else want to join me?

Yes, I do as fergoose has said. Although, I have just actually purchased a security pen with a special torch in it to maybe start putting security marks on items in future...am I getting too paranoid now?

I haven't heard from the buyer yet so will see if they reply or just simply return the bag.

CointreauVersial · 03/04/2012 13:35

Aargh! Now what? The chap who bought my bunk bed paid by Paypal; I refunded the payment because I specified cash only, now he has dropped off the face of the earth, and I cannot open an Unpaid Item case, because eBay says he paid already! Any ideas??

fergoose · 03/04/2012 13:40

Cointreau - open a mutual cancellation - if he ignores you then close and get your fees back

then you can relist

CointreauVersial · 03/04/2012 22:26

Fergoose, what would I do without you?!

carrotsandcelery · 04/04/2012 08:23

I listed all my unsold items last night. I haven't got a single watcher yet. I am now worrying that I have just wasted a bit of cash and should have waited until a free listing weekend. Confused

Has anyone else got listings running or are you all taking a break for Easter?

I've got two things ending tonight then that's it for two weeks. Ds' school ho.Keats officially start tomorrow afternoon so will be good to not think about eBay for a little while...although, I might schedule a couple of things ready to start after he goes back.

I still have two items that need to be sent.

mogs0 · 04/04/2012 11:45

Oh joy, dolls' house buyer is very unhappy that I haven't couriered it yet. They're claiming not to have received any of my emails informing them of a delay and are requesting a refund. I'm expecting a neg Sad. Actually, I'm not too bothered, the last week has been so rubbish that a neg is the least of my worries!!

mygirllollipop · 04/04/2012 12:33

Sorry people are having bother. Another one with dental stuff going one here. DD2 had 4 teeth removed a couple of weeks ago under GA, they also had to uncover a tooth and glue a chain to it. On the plus side her brace can go on soon and she has a more streamlined mouth already without her 'extras'.

I have nearly 140 watchers on my 6 items items - really chuffed with that. They are ending on Friday though - didn't think that though.

ragged · 04/04/2012 12:37

I am only listing on free weekends. I am very grateful to you lot for keeping me informed about when they are (so please keep posting those updates here Wink).
I am off to the loft in a moment to see if there's anything up there I should flog or bin. I lie in bed at night & fantasise about getting rid of stuff, one way or another.

ragged · 04/04/2012 12:38

ps: Yes, Carrots, let's get another thread going a few days after Easter, I need a boot up the bottom all the encouragement I can get!

CointreauVersial · 04/04/2012 13:03

Definitely need another thread - I still have boxes and boxes of stuff.

My mum gave me a hot tip to help with the hibernating wasp problem - wear rubber gloves while rummaging through the loft boxes! Although I'm hoping that the recent warm weather has woken most of them up, and they've pushed off to build new nests and annoy other people.

I have just gone to the Post Office to send a video game that ended on Sunday. The buyer only paid yesterday morning (after I had already left for work) so I was a bit surprised to get a message this morning asking if it had been posted yet as it was for a Birthday next Tuesday.

I was a bit puzzled as to why he/she was so anxious... I had forgotten that this coming weekend is Easter Weekend. Since we don't go in for Easter in quite the same way up in Scotland, I had completely forgotten that all national institutions and companies are suddenly and unexpectedly on holiday. Can anyone tell me which days there are no postal deliveries? [I have had a quick look at the Royal Mail and Post Office websites and I couldn't see any info.]

fergoose · 04/04/2012 14:29

there are no deliveries on Friday or Monday - tomorrow and Saturday will have normal deliveries.

PurpleFrog · 04/04/2012 14:42

Thanks fergoose - I wasn't sure if Saturday would be "normal" or not.

After googling a few times I have now found what I needed:

www.royalmail.com/delivery/mail-advice/public-holidays

It looks like deliveries are normal in Scotland on Friday, but not Wales where my parcel is heading!

fergoose · 04/04/2012 14:51

If you posted 1st class I guess it will be there tomorrow or Saturday, but 2nd class may not get there by Tuesday.

PurpleFrog · 04/04/2012 14:58

No - it was 1st class! I know it should be there by Saturday at the latest - that is what I have told my buyer - but with the snow in the North of England I suppose it may get held up.

But why am I worrying? If he had paid on Sunday I would have posted it on Monday, and there would be no problem!

fergoose · 04/04/2012 17:29

Indeed - you posted asap after payment didn't you. Buyer should have paid earlier really.

carrotsandcelery · 04/04/2012 21:38

Is there anyone around to advise me please?

Someone has messaged me about an item which I listed last week but which didn't sell. They say they tried to bid and their computer crashed and have asked if I will take the 99p for it. I have already relisted the item, not realising they had messaged me.

What do I do?

If I stop the sale and sell it then I won't have ebay protection will I?

If I put a BIN of 99p on, it will cost me another 8p. I put a BIN for her last week and she didn't buy at the price I gave it so has already cost me 8p.

fergoose · 04/04/2012 22:12

How about getting her to bid then ending the item at that point - both still get protection then?

Thanks once again fergoose Smile

Got an e-mail - free listing this weekend Friday to Monday inclusive! Usual condition apply!

carrotsandcelery · 06/04/2012 10:10

Brilliant news! Thanks for letting us know Purple. Dh is working all weekend and the dcs are determined that we are staying in apart from dog walking so it may help me to stay sane Grin

That's great! Does it include cars? My BIL is in charge of selling mine and I handed it over yesterday so the sooner it sells the better!

The buyer of the Radley bag has just emailed to apologise for the delay in replying to my offer for her to return the bag. The delay was because her mother has died Sad and that she's going to leave things as they are as she can't cope with it at the moment. I don't know how to reply. I am assuming she doesn't want the hassle of returning it. Should I refund her anyway and let her keep the bag?

PurpleFrog · 06/04/2012 10:21

Sorry mogs0 - it looks like cars are excluded! [busad]
