There's about a 3 month waiting list for IUI and they have no sperm stocks so I would have to order sperm from Denmark or USA and that'll need to be shipped. If I'm not successful this month then I guess carry on doing what I'm doing.

Waiting2BAMummy · 10/03/2021 14:50

Thank you @Overlyanxious I’m getting mild cramps on and off so I think I’m out.

Would you consider IUI abroad @bitheby? It would be cheaper and I don't think there is a waiting list.

@KLO0224

I’m going to rename us the gropers! 😂

I guess I haven't even thought about it seeing as we're not allowed to travel abroad at the moment. I get a bit stressed about booking leave even when I only need one day to travel to London but I guess it is something I could look into once restrictions ease.

The clinic I've been referred to via the NHS is also a private clinic that's over the border in England so I'll get a couple of UK ones to compare costs between. I don't love my Welsh clinic and am not particularly attached to them.

Busybee143 · 11/03/2021 08:25

@Waiting2BAMummy @Overlyanxious
I'm 33 weeks on Friday, I'm still doing OK but baby is measuring small so I'm having to go for weekly scans now to check she doesn't stop growing. The aim is to get me to 36 weeks (if she continues growing) and maybe induce from there, if she stops growing before 36 weeks it will be steroid injections to help her lungs develop and a c section so fingers crossed little lady keeps growing.
I don't have many words of wisdom but I did start eating a little better (not perfectly), I cut out caffeine (mostly but not in choc etc just brews and I avoid things like coke), and I was very active at the time as I did plenty of running. I also started to inseminate a bit later in my cycle rather than before my peak as I was always inseminating before my peak and now getting any success.
I have no idea if any of it made a difference or if it was just luck but after 2 miscarriages it worked for me.
Good luck to you all, I would honestly find something you are passionate about to focus on also (like running for me) it really helped me not to get overly obsessed and I know that's hard when you want it so bad but I don't think it's 100% healthy. You will all become mummies but maybe not all in the same way ❤️

Waiting2BAMummy · 11/03/2021 21:34

I hope baby yoda keeps growing and you make it to 36 weeks @Busybee143.

That’s interesting that you inseminated after your peak after being unsuccessful inseminating before definitely something to try. You’re my inspiration 🤰🏻

@Busybee143 fingers crossed you can get to 36 weeks. I know a few people this has happened to. Thanks for sharing your experience - I will try some of those things. Definitely struggling with the hobbies to distract me aspect.

Hi everyone

Had anyone ever had their Day 21 progesterone checked? I had mine this week, a day later than the ideal so probably 8dpo. My GP practice has a results line that you have to call between 2 and 2.30pm for blood test results. I called today and got the 'all normal, no further action' response and that would have been that had I not specifically asked for the number for progesterone. I also had lots of other things checked as the GP wanted a bit of an MOT but didn't get the actual results of those as I don't know what they were so couldn't ask. The progesterone is the one I wanted.

Anyway, my result seems really low - 11.8 - and now it's past 2.30 I don't think I'm allowed to call up and ask for the units even. I'm worried that I didn't even ovulate this cycle. I had it done around 4 years ago when I first started this journey and it was low 20s and that was at the wrong part of my cycle as I didn't know then that day 21 didn't necessarily mean day 21.

I've got a huge bruise from the blood test and now I wish I hadn't had it because it's made me feel ten times worse.

KLO0224 · 12/03/2021 15:48

I’ve never had my progesterone levels checked but I have a feeling I might need to, am I right in thinking low progesterone hinders implantation or being able to keep the implanted embryo sufficiently? I did a little google (I’m sure you have already done this @bitheby but I found this...

Waiting2BAMummy · 12/03/2021 16:59

I've never had mine checked @bitheby I'd say that your level does suggest that you have ovulated but does seem quite low. Could you contact your clinic and see what they say?

I know that you're upset by this and I would be too, however, being armed with this information means that your clinic will be able to prescribe progesterone for post ovulation even before you have treatment. I you are worried about not ovulating maybe clomid might be an option?

It's not all lost, it's hard to hear, I know but this knowledge will help you and could explain your early losses so if it can be treated then its good to know, right? Knowledge is power.

The units are crucial because they're measured differently under two systems so 11 could be fine or it could be really low. Under the UK system it's mostly likely too low. I'm so angry with my crappy GP practice that just say normal without giving you the actual results.

I did try ringing back to ask for the units but was on hold in a queue for 10 minutes and then got cut off. I'm now trying to find the email address to send an email but can't find it.

bitheby · 12/03/2021 18:32

Rang back and the receptionist is going to check with the doctor to see if I can have a printout of the results and as long as that's ok, I can collect it on Monday.

Overlyanxious · 12/03/2021 19:06

@bitheby I’ve had mine tested and it said if it was more than 30nmol/L it means you’ve ovulated. However as you’ve said the units used makes all the difference. Fingers crossed it is normal as was said by the Drs.

bitheby · 12/03/2021 19:13

Thanks.

It feels like AF is on its way already so that would make a difference too. If it comes early then the Day 21 was done too late. I hope it doesn't come at all obvs.

Pic of the bruise - never had one like this from a blood test before.

Overlyanxious · 12/03/2021 19:14

@bitheby also low progesterone is at least something they can sort out if it is the case. Part of me wanted to find an easy issue so it could be sorted

Busybee143 · 13/03/2021 08:54

@Waiting2BAMummy it is weird the peak thing isn't it, both times before peak I miscarried. We are all different so maybe my body was a bit faster showing the peak and my ovulation was a little slower, its not an exact science so probably something for everyone to consider. I only ever used cheap sticks too, I'm too stingy to buy the expensive ones 😂
@Overlyanxious I would highly recommend a distraction you can focus on, really helps the mind which I think helps the body.

Thank you for your well wishes, I'll keep you updated!

bitheby · 13/03/2021 09:39

AF came today, two days early, so that might explain the progesterone result. Bummer.

Waiting2BAMummy · 13/03/2021 10:02

It’s all trial and error isn’t it @Busybee143 I didn’t use OPK’s the month I conceived last year so have no idea if I inseminated before or after my peak. Even when you do everything right there is still such a small likelihood of being successful it’s amazing anyone gets pregnant really!

I’ve started eating better again as I got off the wagon at Christmas and have been so fed up that I’ve gained two stone 😳 I start my new job in a few weeks though so I need to lose it or I’ll have nothing to wear 😂

AF got me yesterday sorry to hear that she got you too @bitheby did you ovulate earlier in your cycle than usual?

OP posts:
bitheby · 13/03/2021 12:19

Sorry you're out too.

No, I've had a shorter luteal phase this time. It's usually 14 days and the witch got me at 12dpo if my OPK peak was correct. Although maybe I didn't ovulate at all this time.

Called the NHS fertility clinic as I need bloods Day 1-4. They've booked me in for Tuesday. 4 hour round trip. Not sure whether to tell my boss or to rearrange my already booked leave and book a day off. It also means that it messes up my next insemination dates as I'd already booked a day off to travel and now that's predicted to be after ovulation but who knows how long this next cycle will be. Urgh.

Only thing I've done differently this time is to start the coenzyme Q10.

KLO0224 · 15/03/2021 07:52

Hey ladies, how was yesterday for everyone? It took its toll on me I will admit, but my partner said next year will be different, I want it to be so badly... so badly intact that I broke my rule of testing early. I had a FRER left from last month so I peed on it... I’m only 12dpo so obviously it was negative. I had a cry in the shower and pulled myself together but when I got out I swear I could see a faint faint faint line. So I took it to the window and took a photo so I could adjust it slightly. I don’t know if it’s there or sit, I feel so neurotic at the minute I think if I imagined a leprechaun sat on the end of my bed it would appear! I need someone to shake me out of it and tell me to get a grip.

I’m not sure I should be saying this @KLO0224 but I definitely see a line. I so hope this is it for you and next Mother’s Day will, indeed, be different for you ❤️

KLO0224 · 15/03/2021 19:15

Really?? @Waiting2BAMummy I’m not due AF til Wednesday so I will test again on Thursday. I don’t want to get my hopes up after last month!

Waiting2BAMummy · 15/03/2021 20:11

I know @KLO0224 that’s why I was scared to say anything but there’s definitely a line there. I’ve zoomed in to your picture.

I don’t want to be giving you false hope but I really do see it.

I see it too. I'd be testing first thing to see if it's got any darker. Won't say congratulations yet as it's too early.

KLO0224 · 16/03/2021 06:58

I’ve ordered some more tests, they don’t arrive until Thursday. I will be late by then so will test with those. I’ve got some cheap dip ones so trying to resist the urge to pee on them!

Waiting2BAMummy · 16/03/2021 07:52

Good luck @KLO0224 🤞
