I’m sorry to hear that @KLO0224 what do you think you will do? Can you get a private test? Or try the walk in centre option?

Waiting2BAMummy · 29/03/2021 10:42

That’s so rubbish @KLO0224 I know there is a lot going on right now but 2 blood tests is hardly a lot to ask. Also, to me her theory doesn’t make sense as your HCG levels have clearly risen since your bleed as your negative test is now positive. What’s her number I’m going to rant at her?! 😂

That's so frustrating @KLO0224. Do you have another digital? Maybe try that in a week and see if it's showing 3+ or if it's gone the other way. I know they're not 100% reliable for dating but hopefully it will help to show what's happening. That's how I knew I was miscarrying when mine went from 1-2 to not pregnant.

It's true that a scan probably wouldn't show anything right now but a couple of blood tests would.

KLO0224 · 29/03/2021 12:26

I have another digital, il do that in a week. But if I’ve already miscarried I shouldn’t bleed anymore should I? It’s what I’m automatically on the look out for. Il just test for ovulation around the time I’m due. Do I carry on as if I’m not pregnant? I’m not a drinker or anything like that in fact I’ve been t total for the last 3 years! Don’t smoke so in actual fact il just carry on as normal 😂

That made me laugh. I bet you're a secret Brie and pate fiend though eh?!

Well, I've only had one miscarriage at 5 weeks and I only bled for 5 days like a usual period. I think early miscarriages are unlikely to be too long as there isn't much tissue to discharge. When I had mine, I had ongoing cramps for several months afterwards and I was worried about retained tissue or infection but the midwives and the GP were very dismissive and said that it all would have come away with the first bleed (without examining me. It was right at the beginning of the first lockdown though).

If it is a haemotoma or something else causing early pregnancy bleeding then of course you could bleed again.

KLO0224 · 29/03/2021 13:38

With my chemical last month I bled for 10 days. With the later miscarriage it was about 2 weeks and there was so much tissue!
I do love cheese and pate though I have to admit 😂

Waiting2BAMummy · 29/03/2021 14:45

@KLO0224 I’m not a doctor, obviously, but you had a negative HPT test just before AF and now you’ve got a clearblue digital saying 2-3 weeks. I don’t see how that could have been a miscarriage as you would have been getting a positive before the bleed and not after 🤷🏻‍♀️
When I had mine my HPT went from Pregnant 1-2 to Not Pregnant, it never progressed.
It’s so rubbish that you’re still having to wait when they so easily could have given you two blood tests to see what’s going on.

OP posts:
KLO0224 · 29/03/2021 15:24

I as confused as you are @Waiting2BAMummy. I don’t know what’s happening but it seems I have no choice but to wait and see what happens. Il do the last CBD to see if there’s any progression from 2-3 weeks next week.
What’s a haematoma?
My partner has just reminded me of a tarot card reading I had last year after the miscarriage. Don’t get me wrong, I’m as sceptical as they come but she said I would get pregnant again but there would be complications. But it would turn out in the end. Maybe this is it but maybe it’s just wishful thinking too.

Waiting2BAMummy · 29/03/2021 16:17

A haematoma is a blood clot @KLO0224, they’re not always as scary as they sound most of the time they resolve themselves.

Bless you, I’ll be keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you. Flowers

There's a thread on the conception board where someone had a bleed and then a positive test. The scan showed that there was a collection of blood in the uterus and that's what was bleeding. A haemotoma is just a collection of blood.

bitheby · 30/03/2021 13:53

Got my telephone appointment with the fertility clinic in ten minutes. Am very nervous. I hate calls at the best of times but I hope they don't have bad news for me. They will have blood test results.

We're allowed to travel where I live so I'm sitting by the sea. Hope this call goes well and then I can relax again.

bitheby · 30/03/2021 14:14

15 minutes late and nothing. I've called a few times and can only get through to voicemail. Grrr.

Waiting2BAMummy · 30/03/2021 14:23

That’s so frustrating @bitheby, they charge so much money but, from many stories I’ve read, don’t provide a service worthy of the costs involved. Hope you manage to get through.

OP posts:
bitheby · 30/03/2021 14:38

It's the NHS service!

Apparently he was reading through my notes. Basically my blood tests are all good. FSH is normal and AMH is "excellent" for my age. So that's at least a relief.

He said that in his opinion IVF would give me the best chance of success at this stage, which is only 10-20% (the private clinic said not to bother as it's only 5% chance) as in effect I've been doing the equivalent of IUI with the private donations.

Lots to think about but considering how much I've been kicking myself for being so old and decrepit, at least hormonally I'm still in good nick.

Waiting2BAMummy · 30/03/2021 16:08

That’s great news @bitheby, definitely worth the wait!

OP posts:
Overlyanxious · 30/03/2021 16:42

@bitheby that’s great news about your results. I think it’s difficult with the ivf/iui question. I think ivf often gets pushed over IUI because it has better outcomes overall and if IUI doesn’t work you are then told to try IVF.

KLO0224 · 30/03/2021 17:27

@bitheby that’s good news about your test results! It’s such a hard question. We always said we would just jump straight to IVF due to the odds been slightly more in our favour. I’m but due to that we haven’t looked into IUI as much.
I hope you enjoyed your day by the sea. We have been to the beach today too. I needed a change of scenery and to get out of my own head. The weather has been very kind and I think we both feel refreshed.
Although the first thing I did when I got home is POAS despite been warned by EPAU not to! What a ridiculous thing to tell someone not to do when they are in a quandary like this! Il piss on as many sticks as I want thank you woman!

bitheby · 30/03/2021 17:42

And what was the result @KLO0224? What types of tests are you doing and how is it looking?

KLO0224 · 30/03/2021 18:26

I just did the cheap internet one. I’m trying to save the CB digital one for next week to see if it goes to 3 weeks. The test is positive still.

I think the control line looks lighter on the newer one so that might not mean too much. It'll look slightly different when it dries too. It's still a strong line.

I can't imagine how you're feeling. I'm desperate to know and I'm not experiencing it.

Waiting2BAMummy · 30/03/2021 19:03

That probably isn’t lighter when it dries @KLO0224 And I agree with @bitheby the control line looks lighter which either means the test line is starting to steal due from the contrail line or that test just has less due in it overall.

How crazy of them to tell you not to test, of course you’re going to. Tell them if they just have you two blood tests you wouldn’t need to so that’s on them!!

KLO0224 · 30/03/2021 19:11

I’m trying not to think about it but it’s so hard! I have no symptoms other than the boobs so that’s making me think maybe it’s not it this month! I know some people don’t but I have each time I have caught on.
And the fact that the bleed was so heavy. I filled a pad in 2 hours! And was in a lot of pain.
Do you think if I fibbed and said I had some pain they would be more likely to test me?
They had no issues with it last month, they queried an ectopic because I was still getting positive tests a week after I bled. It’s coming up to a week now so don’t see why they won’t this time! A scan isn’t likely to show anything up so no point paying for a private one is there?
When would I date from? Technically my last period was only last month but obviously no insemination so would it go from the last last period!? That would be the 5th feb!!

Waiting2BAMummy · 30/03/2021 20:09

They won’t even be able to see a sac until 6/7 weeks but could you pay for private blood tests? This place sends you a kit and you send it back and get the results in 2 working days @KLO0224 medichecks.com/products/pregnancy-blood-test

Or if you have a fertility clinic near you could you call them and explain the situation and see if you can pay for one with them?

I’m going to try the GP again tomorrow and just lay it on a bit thick. It is causing me anxiety so will let them know that too. If not il try care fertility in Sheffield think they are the nearest.
