So it appears I posted the 1,000 message on our previous thread and now it's closed so I've opened us a new home!

Did you contact your doctor at all? I feel like it should be recorded on my notes so that if it’s a persistent thing it can be investigated?
The bleeding is quite heavy and bright red so think that’s it now unfortunately.

Waiting2BAMummy · 05/02/2021 08:35

No, I didn’t @KLO0224 but you need to do what’s right for you. I have started taking 75mg a day of aspirin though as I’ve read many posts from women who have either been told to do that after losses or have done it of their own accord and have successfully carried to term so maybe something to think about.

Be kind to yourself and know that what ever you’re feeling is perfectly normal and perfectly okay. Flowers

I let my GP know after my early miscarriage in April but I didn't after a chemical in September. I've been trying for 18 months (plus a few attempts in the year before that) and given my age, I think exploring any other reasons for it is sensible. I've made a GP appointment for next week.

They can prescribe progesterone to help with implantation or refer for tests. I think I'd prefer to get in the system. I suspect they will just say age but it isn't necessarily so. There was a very good documentary on miscarriage last year that made me cry lots but shows how common and how treatable some of the issues are.

I am so sorry for your loss if that's what this is. Mine didn't hit me for months really. Passing the due date in December was hard. Be kind to yourself.

KLO0224 · 06/02/2021 19:47

I think il ring the GP on Monday just to have it recorded on my notes.
I’ve felt better today and I feel as though I got of lightly this time compared to September. I was so poorly with the miscarriage. I haven’t had any cramping and the bleeding is lighter than my normal period, no clots up to now so I’m thankful for that! I will test for the negative next week so I know we can try again later this month if I ovulate!

Waiting2BAMummy · 06/02/2021 22:27

Bless you @KLO0224 glad you’re feeling a little better today. You may find that you ovulate a little later than usual next month, I know I did.

Lots of people conceive again the month after a chemical pregnancy so fingers crossed for you x

I spoke to a GP this morning (and cried) and she's referring me to gynaecology. She said she can't prescribe progesterone but that it might be worth contacting a fertility clinic for a private prescription.

I'm about 6dpo today and I'm quietly optimistic about this cycle as I've been feeling a few cramps. Really hope that my law breaking was worth it. It's a story to tell them anyway.

KLO0224 · 08/02/2021 13:59

Did they say why they couldn’t prescribe you progesterone?

bitheby · 08/02/2021 15:21

She said that it needs a specialist, which I know from reading the conception boards, isn't the case at other GPs. She also said it's given by injection, which again I know isn't the case by reading the threads.

So she just might never have come across this before.

She's going to do some research about fertility treatment on the NHS, which I assume I don't qualify for but things are a bit different here in Wales. I will kick myself if I've missed the age cut off because I assumed it wasn't possible.

Anyway.

How are you doing?

KLO0224 · 08/02/2021 16:22

I have definitely heard of GP’s prescribing it and it comes in suppository form?
I don’t like the dismissive approach that Some GPS have towards fertility issues. I am banking in having problems when I go to then with been in a same sex relationship. My donor said he would come to the GP if needed and pretend to be in a straight relationship to get the help we need 😂 he’s a good one!
I’m ok, still a little sad about the CP. I didn’t a test today to see if the line was going fainter and it is. My boobs are still killing me so hopefully that subsided too.
I have my fingers crossed for you this month!

bitheby · 08/02/2021 17:23

She isn't my regular GP but I asked for her as my regular GP is really difficult for me to talk to. He has a very abrupt bedside manner and it was a great excuse to request a female doctor to talk about fertility stuff.

She was very receptive and helpful but just not that well informed I think. I'm a single person trying to get pregnant with a donor, which they do know and it hasn't affected the way she dealt with me. She asked for my 'social situation' and I was very open about it. They did know that. My regular GP is such a weirdo. Last time I spoke to him it was about my back as I have a slipped disc and it was flaring up and I was in a lot of pain. I wanted to ask about referrals for further investigation and mentioned that I was TTC so couldn't have an X-ray. He said, well how on earth can you mechanically get pregnant if you're in pain. I reckon he was trying to catch me out. When I said I was self inseminating, that certainly shut him up. I guess he wrote it in my notes.

Waiting2BAMummy · 08/02/2021 17:42

He sounds like a charmer @bitheby. I haven’t been to a GP in over 15 years and when I read posts on these boards about their attitudes it reminds me why.

Anything that I had read says that any sort of treatment, in England at least, is not available on the NHS for single women or same sexy couples. I guess that could vary by CCG even in England though. That said, you would probably still be entitled to any investigations when you’ve been trying unsuccessfully.

GP’s can definitely prescribe progesterone suppositories. I believe they are 400mg twice a day. I’ve been trying to find a website to buy some from but even from the US it seems you have to have a prescription which feels crazy given what it is. There are far more harmful drugs that can be bought quite easily across the internet without one. I guess fertility clinics wouldn’t be able to charge so much for it if it was easily accessible though!

I live in Wales and it's different here. IVF is available on the NHS to single women and lesbian couples and even men. But there are age limits. Looks to be two cycles under 40 and one under 42. I'm 44.

Waiting2BAMummy · 08/02/2021 19:01

.... wonders how quickly she can move to Wales....

Oh that would be great! 🙂

Overlyanxious · 09/02/2021 09:13

How are you getting on @Waiting2BAMummy?

@KLO0224 I’m really sorry to hear about your chemical. I had an early miscarriage in August and it’s horrible. I still feel sad about the short time I was excited.

It’s currently AF time for me so feeling a bit fed up. Also waiting to hear back from my donor. He’s reliable but there is always that fear.

Waiting2BAMummy · 09/02/2021 13:05

I’m waiting for AF to arrive @Overlyanxious OvuSense says I ovulated on Friday 29th Jan which means the witch is due on Thursday. I didn’t meet my donor until 10pm on suspected ovulation day so am not holding out any hope.

Sorry to hear the witch got you this month and I completely agree about waiting for your donor to get back to you. Especially when they take longer than normal I get paranoid that they’re not going to reply.

Hope this is your month.

OP posts:
Overlyanxious · 09/02/2021 13:39

@Waiting2BAMummy fingers crossed AF doesn’t arrive and this is your month. Hopefully you didn’t get it too late.

KLO0224 · 11/02/2021 07:27

Test still showing a fainter line. When did yours disappear @Waiting2BAMummy @bitheby? Just want it to reset so I can get on with this month!

bitheby · 11/02/2021 07:53

Mine stopped showing a line a few days before I started bleeding. Is it worth asking your GP for blood tests to check what's going on?

KLO0224 · 11/02/2021 08:32

I think I will phone them today.

KLO0224 · 11/02/2021 09:39

I’m at the doctors this afternoon and then the nurse, also referral to EPU made just to see what’s going on.

bitheby · 11/02/2021 09:46

Well done. I think that's a really good idea. You need to know now what's happening and the sticks aren't going to give you enough information. Keep us posted.

Waiting2BAMummy · 11/02/2021 10:17

Good idea to get things checked out @KLO0224. When I got my fainter FRER and negative CB Digital I stopped testing because I knew it was over and testing was only making me feel worse.

Hope you get some answers so that you can move on.

Let us know how you get on.
