Welcome Smith :)
I didn't have a hycosy either, wasn't recommended either due to age, no previous pregnancy/miscarriage etc consultant said not to bother

If you aren't already then start taking folic acid (I also took vitamin d) Superdrug do an own brand combination one that's always on 3for2 and not expensive

Um..... can't think of anything I did specifically, I didn't really drink

So excited for you, I love these new journeys :)

Thanks @pickle162 the consultant said the same to us my AMH was normal for my age I’m 31 and have had no previous pregnancies/miscarriages or Heath issues!

I have been taking vitamins for conception for a month or two now I started a little early lol! My bmi is a little high atm so strict diet and no alcohol from Jan! I’m trying not to get my hopes up as I know it most likely work first time but it’s hard to be excited and plan, I think I’m driving my wife crazy with my planning lol

Hi all, so here’s some news, it was confirmed yesterday that it’s twins. Fertility treatment is all fun and games until someone mentions multiples during a Scan! So yeah. Two! Eek!

Welcome smith I did the things on Pezs list, plus the vitamin d, plus L-Arginine supplement, red raspberry leaf tea and caster oil packs (google for a how to and the benefits, but ensure whoever is carrying la Bebe does it daily except for during AF and only up until transfer.)

I also did acupuncture, reflexology and reiki during my 5 different treatments.

Oh and controversially, this time I didn’t eat any pineapple, citrus, or cayenne pepper post transfer as I was told my body was already too hot, so didn’t need the additional warming foods.....

During the 5 procedures I tried everything: doing nothing for two weeks after transfer ie complete rest, I tried carrying on as normal, I tried eating the right things, or I ate whatever I wanted. Basically I did everything I could have done and still it took me moving to egg donation (and two goes at that) to get my bfp!

I do firmly believe it’s all about the right egg, meeting the right sperm and settling down in the right environment. Good luck!

@StorkAhoy congratulations on the BFPx2!! Once the initial shock wears off It'll be amazing. Can I ask if you're going it alone? I am and the consultant has asked me to think about if I want 1 or 2 embryos returned when the time comes...I keep flip flopping back and forth...any advice??

Anyone else totally exhausted whilst on burserilin? I can't see to get enough sleep at the moment!

StorkAhoy · 30/12/2017 18:48

mandy hi! Yes I’ll be a solo mama. When I moved to embryo donation they come in pairs, so it’s not really a choice as statistically you’re still likely to only have one. I clearly just got very lucky! On my first ivf I transferred one, all the other times I transferred two. But it’s a lot to consider!

@StorkAhoy. Thanks. How many times did it take you to get your BFP? Did you do the DE in the UK? Good luck with your pregnancy. It's so nice when someone has a positive result...👶🏻👶🏻🤰🏻

Wow congrats stork on your double baby bean joy! That's amazing news! Good luck Smith I've just ticked all the boxes with my clinic and due to start iui on next cycle. I'm going it alone as well mandy is burserilin one of the injections I'm not looking forward to starting mine more so because of the side affects I could get from them :(

Thanks all!

I did 3 ivfs with own eggs with uk clinics, then moved to Serum in Athens. First DE FET was a bfn, second was the bfp!

Scary and exciting in nearly equal measure.....!

@Ttc2017 yes burserilin is the injection you do to stop everything working before you start it all up again. When I did IVF OE I did the injections and oddly enough had no side effects (apart from being a bit more moody than normal) this time though with the nasal spray. I'm tired all the time, my legs were hurting today and I'm VERY tearful- crying in The greatest showman and then again today on my way to fat club listening to the CD from the film🤦🏻‍♀️! It'll all be worth it though if I get my BFP! Also don't worry about the injections they are not as bad as you think...I found if you look at the end of the needle and insert it with the hole on the bottom it fine but if you do it upside down it really can hurt. Also if you do it in the bit to the left or right of your belly button and below it I didn't feel a thing. It did take me a full ten minutes the first time though to actually get up the courage to do it though. I look back now and wonder why I made such a fuss. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@StorkAhoy I'm sure you'll be fine. I was talking to my friend at work who has twins and she said it's the best way to go...her kids always have a playmate. I hope that helps.

Best of luck for 2018 ladies xx

Morning all!

Twins! Wow, stork. How exciting!

Can I ask a clueless question? When we did IUI with my DP, we had a donor through the clinic so they sorted it all out. They have now run out of donors, so we need to buy elsewhere. I know some people on here have done that. I am getting really confused by prices at the London Sperm Bank (partly cos I think their website is on the blink!). So one vial for one cycle is £950? Blimey. Do they do a reduction for ordering more, or not? I know I could ring them and tell them the 'prices' bit of the website won't open for me, but I thought someone here might know.

It feels a bit nervy and weirdly emotional doing this. I wasn't nervous last time but this time I feel horribly worried it 'matters' and I'll make the wrong decision. Stupid, I know!

Pez82 · 02/01/2018 11:38

Double congrats Stork!! How exciting!!!

LRD, yes this price is per vial unfortunately. I bought mine from Denmark (ESB) and it worked out at about £500 per vial when buying 4 including a pregnancy slot
You might want to check with your clinic which banks they accept to receive sperm from as they normally have agreements (I know I had free shipping (saving something like £250 per delivery) and access to donors info for free through my clinic)

Happy new year everyone xx

LRDtheFeministDragon · 02/01/2018 13:15

Thanks!

Yes, we have checked - it's one of the banks our clinic recommended, which was why we looked.

We're actually thinking whether we change clinic, and this is making me think we might. We're planning to move, so there's a decision to be made whether we stick with our original clinic or move.

@LRDtheFeministDragon - my clinic for my first IVF wanted people to use xytex from the US. It ended up costing 1500£ for three vials so it's deffo worth shopping around. Best of luck.

Report
LRDtheFeministDragon · 02/01/2018 17:50

Thanks! They mentioned xytex too, but someone else had a bad experience with them, so I thought not.

I am leaning towards changing clinics more and more.

We chose our donor today and signed consent. We should be all go for treatment when I start my next cycle (which is likely to be in late Jan).

We were only offered 3 donors but luckily one of them met all our main criteria and has similar colouring to my partner. He had also written a note for recipients/donor conceived children that was quite touching.

Really excited. Also quite nervous about the whole thing!

Eeeek how exciting tiny been a long time coming. Best of luck

Have fun choosing donor lrd :)

Wonky35 · 02/01/2018 21:52

I went with xytex lrd and found them to be really good. They kept me up to date with what was happening and arranged for me to share shipment with someone else which saved me a few hundred pounds. I actually had a problem with LSB. For some reason my clinic weren't happy to accept donors from the LSB who came through the Seattle bank which was really annoying.

I have to say I found the whole purchasing of a donor very difficult. It sometimes feel you have too much information and I became completely obsessed with the choice. I made a spreadsheet and everything!

Glad to hear things are progressing tiny. How exciting to get started! Good luck.
