Hedgehog big?! Wtf?! Hedging! That is what I meant.

So at €5k for DD, plus €1k for freezing a batch of 1-3 eggs, that's €6k, and for that I could have two goes at EDonation, totalling 4 embryos, so i think that's what I'll do. And if I want another child, then I guess you'll just have to call me angelina jolie! Or I'll try again with my own eggs.

I'm pretty much gung ho for the embryo donation, but with more info that might change, we shall see.

End of August, think the 29th for a phone convo. I've asked to do as many tests as poss in London, but 29th August is pretty much right after when AF is due, so I might miss the window for that test at Concept, may have to wait for the next month, so I'm thinking transfer in Oct......maybe.

And you know what? I'm bloody excited. I'm ecstatic not to be going through ivf again with my own eggs. This feels like the right path for me, and I'm so blessed that we have science that gives us these options.

See, didn't take long for my frown to turn around.

ever it's great having you to talk to, thanks love.

Stork so pleased you have a plan :) glad you and ever and kwick are all looking into similar things as it's so bloody complicated don't feel able to put in anything useful. Just really hopefully for you all

I'm off to bed, exhausted after my day at the beach

Ffs would post one reply and now it's duplicated the message!
Oh well least I know I'm thinking of you 😁

pickle162 · 31/07/2017 21:22

Wouldn't!!!oh jeez
I'm just going to go to bed, think it's safest

Everhopeful76 · 31/07/2017 23:28

Stork or Angelina...confused!? How could you get 4 embryos with 2 goes of embryo adoption for 6K!!? I have looked at so many options, my head is frazzled!!

You ll probably have to get the anti viral blood tests done at Concept. Do you have to get any other tests done?

I think my own eggs are so duff, been doing OPKs since last wed, and am day 17 and the lines are much the same all the time. Starting to think I have quite a few anovulatory cycles, my ovaries need a good shake!! just want my next period to not be delayed... Looking at 9-11th August with the down reg injection around 30th Aug

kwick · 01/08/2017 07:49

stork I am pleased you are on the right path 😘

Ever Angelina Jolie has a whole herd of children - some her biological kin others adopted.

OP posts:
StorkAhoy · 01/08/2017 08:10

ever ha ha ha, yes Angelina and her brood of adopted kids! so, let me explain my thinking about the 4 for 6k. For €3k at Serum you get 2 thawed blastocysts, so double that and there you go, 4 for €6k. Im literally talking bang for my buck, i.e. if the first round doesn't work, I have another go at €3k.

Now a fresh DoubleDonor round may well yield a higher success rate in terms of implantation, thats totally possible (depends on the studies you read!). But my concern is the variable in terms of pricing on the freezing of batches of 1-3 embryos, its €1k a time (which includes the FET), so if I got LOADS of embryos from a DD round e.g. 10. lets say I put 2 back, Im left with 8, I would freeze in batches of 2 as I wouldn't put back 3 embryos), so thats 4 batches of 2 embryos, so thats €4k on top of the original €5k for the DD round. and Im assuming that €4k for freezing batches/FET would need to be paid at time of freezing. Thats a lot of extra budget Id need to find. Ever how are you dealing with that variable?

Pickle thanks for the double message!! :)

StorkAhoy · 01/08/2017 08:13

ever Im not sure about bloods etc yet, I need to wait until my phone convo consult with Penny to confirm what I need, where and when!

and you're still OPKing? do I ned to start doing that again? I stopped when I started IVFing (the stress of ovulation monitoring really gets to me!)

Im so excited for you!!

StorkAhoy · 01/08/2017 08:25

Ever ps, just read that they need a 'valid certification signed by you(us) in presence of a notary that you(us) are undergoing IVF treatment declared a single lady with anonymous sperm donation responsible for the child/children conceived'

  • are you doing this?
pickle162 · 01/08/2017 22:15

Wish best of luck for tomorrow, let us know how you get on x

kwick · 02/08/2017 07:58

Thinking of you today Wish - hope the IUI goes really well.

Wish4Future · 02/08/2017 15:39

All done! Wasn't too bad, she used a smaller speculum and I coped pretty well I think, so I'm pleased with that! Now it's the waiting game! Thanks so much for all your well wishes! Xxx

pickle162 · 02/08/2017 16:21

Wahooo!! Glad all done :) welcome to the twot 🙃

nicoleclare21 · 02/08/2017 17:39

I hope this is ok to ask here but I think I saw somewhere that the drugs used for iui or ivf (or both??) can increase the chances of developing cervical cancer? I just wondered if anyone could confirm if this is true (maybe its just a particular drug that should be avoided) I'm only asking as it is a worry of mine, my grandmother died from cervical cancer (a lot of years ago) but as it is in my immediate family it's something I'm aware could one day affect me. I hope it isn't inconsiderate to ask this here I certainly don't wish to scare anyone.

pickle162 · 02/08/2017 17:43

Yes I think it is true but more so if you use long term for repeated and repeated etc times

TurtleTree · 02/08/2017 18:48

Best of luck Wish, such an exciting but nerve wracking time I imagine.

Those of you doing IVF, have you all used ICSI? Is this recommended these days, or can it be decently successful with the ol' petri dish approach?

Everhopeful76 · 02/08/2017 19:39

Stork I had no idea you got 2 embryos in 1 go with EA? That wasn't communicated to me at all. Hmmm that might have persuaded me your way actually .....although Penny has already said that she has found a really suitable match eek!!.

In truth, Serum will only guarantee you 2 blasts and 8 eggs in a DE cycle, which then of course is a lot of cash to be wasting if this is all you get, but Id still do both of these one at a time (so minimum additional spend 1K after the fresh transfer)However to be the other end of the scale and getting 10 eggs which all became blastocysts would also not be likely. Speaking to a few people who have undergone a full cycle, the average seems to be 4 or 5 blastocysts. I do need to think around the freeze batching because I also would definitely not want 3 put on board in one go, and most likely not 2, but if I got toward the upper end of blastocysts created, then I would have to freeze some 2s!! Omg, its neverending the decisions to be made.

The notary certificate I confess to not really understanding that bit. I think someone just has to witness your signature?? But yes singles need to do this.

I am OPK'ing just to give me an estimated date of next period as they can mess about. However have not got a positive ovulation test this month so when this has happened before its meant my period has been late. I really hope not too late as it will delay me starting. Its also possible I could have missed the peak time or my pink CB digi is faulty. If I have infact ovulated then my next cycle should be due at end of next week and then its COUNTDOWN to down reg injection!! Would have found it more reassuring if Id had the peak reading when I expected to - all other symptoms EWC, flushing and cramping were present at w/e tho so god only knows xx

Pez82 · 02/08/2017 19:43

Hi turtle, I had ICSI but only because the clinic offered it for free as an apology after messing up. Otherwise I wouldn't have paid the extra £1k for it as I think my eggs would have fertilised in the Petri dish the same way (at least that's what the embryologist told me).
I guess ICSI is recommended when eggs have got a harder shell or there aren't many but unfortunately you wouldn't know this until you've gone through an IVF cycle...

StorkAhoy · 02/08/2017 20:37

turtle i had icsi and ivf and there was no difference in the ration of fertilised to non fertilised eggs. It's wholly dependent on the quality of the eggs and sperm. Good luck with what you choose!

ever ya, Katie confirmed 2 blastos for €3k, that obviously are implanted at the same time. But eeek about your match so exciting. And you're right the decisions are never ending!

I've got such a good feeling about this. I know it fails for people, but I'm feeling great about it!

Re notary. It would be worth checking with them if that what it means as I thought it means going to a proper notary and paying for the pleasure!

Bear1980 · 02/08/2017 21:40

pickle have you tested again?

Everhopeful76 · 03/08/2017 00:12

Stork found this on Serum's website "We do not accept potential egg donors who have a family history of serious illnesses like early onset of heart disease, diabetes, cancers, life threatening allergies and mental illness" but yes nothing more specific about psychological profiling. Looks like they ve updated their website before their summer break too!!

From memory for notary thing, I think it was just a case of a signature being witnessed and it being inexpensive but will go back and check my many emails with Katie, and find out/get her to confirm

I still have mixed feelings about the treatment and it working, but its because of my loss, just don't particularly imagine that its necessarily going to line up for me. I am forward thinking but not feeling super confident!! Its a new adventure but don't feel its an exciting one, yet!!

Turtle if you using donor sperm, usually ICSI is not required, from the experiences I ve had. Due to already robust screening at sperm bank etc the petrie dish method is sufficient. Not sure how that might relate if the egg isn't such a great quality. I cant quite remember your circumstances, whether your with a partner or single, without scrolling massively.
xx

kwick · 03/08/2017 08:02

Did not know that nicole about the drugs... oh well I am buggered then....

Ever no more of this negative thinking!!! Great you have a match and soon you will have your BFP

thanks ever - yes very useful. Penny does seem to be super careful.

I agree with kwicks comment about PMA. This is totally different to your previous experience, I mean look at the incredible steps you're taking to ensure you don't have a repeat of what happened - you're so brave!! So please please stay positive.xxx
