When is your OTD Pickle? Did you mention you would be due on by mid week if it hasn't worked? I hope it has.

I guess Kwik if IVI are incommunicado with you too, you do have the other Spanish options such as IB or Instituto Marguez. IB was the one that my previous clinic recommended, they worked in partnership with them. They talk of an almost 100pc pregnancy rate after 3 cycles or money back!! That's confidence isn't it?

I have heard nothing back from previous clinic regarding obtaining my notes. Luckily Serum don't seem to be too bothered about this, they ve not asked, it was me who requested. I sent them a really lovely email basically saying I will always be grateful to them for helping me have Mabel. She was the best month of my life so far!! They have rudely not acknowledged. Ah well x

Pez82 · 30/07/2017 11:35

Pickle, I really hope you're wrong and this cycle will turn into a BFP over the next few days. Wait a couple more days and test with a FRER.
An IVF cycle wouldn't mean more appointments than a medicated IUI cycle, apart from the day off you would need to take for Egg collection. In fact I had the same number of scans for my IVF than I did for my unmedicated IUIs.
Fingers crossed!

pickle162 · 30/07/2017 11:41

Otd is fri but that's the 18days, tomorrow is 14dpiui
Did another cheapie on slightly more concentrated urine and got a light line
I don't particularly feel af-y either but only real symptom I get with that is that womble starts to feel heavy
Arghhhhhhhh fingers crossed x

LondonGirl80 · 30/07/2017 14:52

Hi all!

Kwick, I'm with the London Women's Clinic & have also bought from Xytex (what a weird feeling - like an Argos catalogue for men!) I guess I wondered if there were side effects to the meds & how you coped with the anxiety & waiting. I'm so used to managing things as I want them to happen that having my destiny out of my own hands is really strange...

Pickle, crossing fingers for you, hon.

kwick · 30/07/2017 15:07

Good point Ever on other Spanish clinics. I am not actually ready to start - when I am and if they are not on the ball then I will look at another Spanish clinic.

You got a line Pickle???????

Ah right london yep lack of control is hard but you are doing something very positive for your future happiness!
I did not have many med side affects - except for mood swings and one lucky cycle developing a mahoosive blackhead/gungy thing which just kept in giving when I went in for a squeeze Grin you will be grand

Kwick line is because of gonasi hcg injection-still in my system-which is why it's an extra head fcuk!
But as you can see frer and internet cheapie are so so different on the line front!!
Brought some more frer's today so just going to test tomorrow and Tuesday and then see what happens......

London as you can see I don't cope very well with the anxious wait!

Thanks kwick! DP is being brilliant, we're in this together & it's all going to work out, somehow & at some point!

Pickle - am so going to be like you!

Wish4Future · 30/07/2017 20:29

londongirl hi! My wife and I are on our first ever medicated IUI cycle right now! I'm like a week ahead of you! I'm on 30 suprecur and 75 menopur daily, and apart from feeling super tired I've had no emotional side effects, so fingers crossed for you! Is it you or your partner doing the cycle?

pickle fingers crossed you're still in! I have every hope for you!

AFM, second scan on Friday showed a dominant 13mm cycle and an 11mm cycle too. Another scan tomorrow to see how things have progressed over the weekend. Fingers crossed for IUI before the end of the week!

Wish4Future · 30/07/2017 21:02

Oops follicle not cycle! Lol!

kwick · 31/07/2017 07:42

pickle may I say once again how much I adore your handwriting Smile

My well loved nephew came back from a Woodcraft summer camp in Austria yesterday and as his mum is away he had a sleepover with me. i fed and watered him, then he had a nice bath and then we slept. He is still sleeping now. Best sleep I have had in ages. Got a very long hug out of him and looking forward to getting all the gossip over the next few days. We fly off to Greece on Wednesday!

Thanks love, I'd already stuck in my book so didn't want to ruin the page by pulling it out to take a picture.
Bit scared to test today as don't want that beautiful line to weaken-I'm at 14dpiui today so unfair I have to wait longer 😉

Awe glad you had a lovely time with your nephew :) eek 2days till Greece....yayyyy

Wish good luck for your scan again today, love hearing about how the little follies are growing

LondonGirl80 · 31/07/2017 11:31

Hiya Wish - yes, you must be just a week or so ahead of us. It's me taking the meds etc - Gonal F for us, back for my scan to measure the follicles on Friday, then hopefully doing the deed in about a week's time. I share the feeling super-tired thing - just exhausted no matter how much sleep I get. Crossing my fingers for you that the follicles have grown over the weekend!

StorkAhoy · 31/07/2017 11:44

ever out of curiosity why didn't you go with either of the Spanish clinics you mentioned? Ta!

Wish4Future · 31/07/2017 11:51

london good luck with follicle growth!

I've had my scan this morning and my follicles have had a growth spurt over the weekend, so its trigger for us tonight and IUI on weds! So excited and surprised! Xx

pickle162 · 31/07/2017 12:23

Wow wish fab news!! How big are the follicles?

Everhopeful76 · 31/07/2017 12:28

Hopefully you will have good news soon Pickle
Wish and London happy follicle growth spurting!! Best of luck

Stork yey, the Spanish clinics... I know nothing about Instituto Marquez, only that it seems to be recommended highly by another thread on here. There is also IVF Alicante which also seems to get good feedback.

The IB clinics in Spain are recommended by my previous Bristol clinic for embryo adoption but I never got my follow up appt to discuss further. There was a communication breakdown in the fact that they thought I wanted to do another cycle using OE's asap (why!? without some talk of what went wrong, whats next), and what I was after was an appointment detailing donor embryo options in Spain - they also had a similar arrangement with Embryolab in Greece. It was very much we ll do your scans and arrange it all from here, but failed to give me any information on it. I went directly onto IB website and it does say an almost 100pc guarantee or your money back but by then I was in almost daily chats with Penny's assistant Katie at Serum, and she was just providing me with an answer to every question++ and just had a better feel for it.

Also with my Bristol clinic they only seemed to be recommending EA and not a full donor egg cycle (probably due to the steep mark up costs) In fairness my Consultant rang me several times (always left v/m's) to see how I was after the IVF failure because I think they were desperately hoping it was going to work and didn't know what to say. Then went to see the Counsellor attached to the clinic (altho she is an independent private practitioner too) - she even said it sounds like Serum is a really good choice and had several clients who had gone there and had success and was upset on my behalf that communication had broken down. Mostly they have not responded to an email I sent, explaining I would always be grateful for their help because it meant I had my Mabel which was the happiest time of my life, even though I knew it would come to an end. Explained would be changing clinics because of not offering full DE cycle. The clinic is also impacted on the fact that the NHS clinic (part of the satellite care) is being taken over by a private organisation so just felt like a complete mess if I d gone down the OE route again, and I wanted to start afresh. They ve still yet to respond or to my request for my notes.

As an aside and slightly influencing my decision were contact from 2 ladies thru the DC network, 1 had said be careful with Spain because she had had non identical twins (2 embryo adoptees) and is not convinced her boy and girl are even related (1 case not proven) and also the very minute amount of info you get on the donors. Obviously Greece is anonymous as well, but I get the impression Penny will give you more on the donors in a non identifying way, that gives more than the blood type and colouring basics!! The other lady (DC Network) who d gone for DD treatment in Spain confirmed this is all she got with her treatment and feels a bit sad that she will never be able to provide further info to her son, but ultimately she said it was about what she could offer..love, affection, being a good role model etc. Neither country have a regulator like the HFEA so ultimately who knows!!

Just got used to saying I am going to have a Greek (or Polish) baby and really love Greece as a country. I went in May on a Yoga holiday and loved the place, people, has a great spirit about the place etc. Just overall felt right for me, a new adventure...

Wish4Future · 31/07/2017 12:33

Thanks for the luck all.

pickle I had a 20mm and a 19mm follicle!

pickle162 · 31/07/2017 12:50

Wow wish super growth!!! So excited 😊

LondonGirl80 · 31/07/2017 13:12

Wish that's fab! So pleased for you. Yay next steps!

StorkAhoy · 31/07/2017 13:26

ever thanks. Contacted IB and it's €1500 more than Serum for EA. and over €6500 for DD.

Re Serum and the info Katie said: 'We can share non identifying information about the donors eg age but not date of birth, type of work but not job title.' So yes I think it's more info.

Ps Do you know if Penny does psychological testing on her donors?

Xx

Everhopeful76 · 31/07/2017 14:56

Bloody hell, so my clinic can also embellish the truth about EA. they told me 3k for IB. Was told this in jan and appreciate there could have been an increase in price from apr. It could also include the drugs possibly but neither one of these would shunt up the costs that much. My clinic said 700 quid for the lining scans too. Oh my god, well there you go. Glad I didn't even bother pursuing further

As for psychological profile with donors am not sure tbh. I think I noticed them being screened pretty thoroughly but not sure if this was just physical issues. Good point but probably not too much of a worry for me xxx

Everhopeful76 · 31/07/2017 15:02

It's funny this non identifying info isn't it. Feel like asking does donor enjoy certain types of foods. It's the sort of thing a curious small child might ask!!!

Also in terms of clinics that have a good rep and are cheaper, I think only the ones in Czech Republic can compete here and certainly when I looked at this before they were not able to treat single women. I think it may be more relaxed now. I think someone had said a male friend could sign paperwork??

StorkAhoy · 31/07/2017 18:34

ever those prices aren't including meds for lining....

Yeah I think it's Serum for me then! Eek! I'm hedgehog big towards EmDonation, but may switch after my convo with Penny!

Everhopeful76 · 31/07/2017 19:02

Yeah I think the lining drugs are only around 200 euros!! so a drop in the ocean as an add on cost to what they quote.
Love hedgehog big hehe!!! Penny did try and sell embryo donation to me to begin with but I just decided I wanted multiple chances and not to have to make the decision again about whether on a 2nd attempt (had I gone for donated embryo) whether to do the same or DE cycle.
She also said maybe after you ve finished b/f'g you can try with your own eggs and clomid or femara. Its good that she will not give up on your own eggs if that's what you want, she said "my dear, if you give me an egg, I ll try and get you a baby". They have treated some very difficult cases. Feel am in safe hands, but really really want it to work first time.

When is your consultation with them again? Concept fitted me in within a weeks notice for aquascan, they are very accommodating xx

kwick · 31/07/2017 20:04

Way to go wish!!! Best of luck for the IUI!!!
