Ok.....advice please lovely ladies 😍
I'm 11 days post iui
Period due on cycle day 24
I'm now day 26
I've been lightly spotting for 4 days now (from day 8 post iui / cycle day 21)
I don't know what to think? Spotting shouldn't last this long?
I do normally spot for 1/2 day before period comes but hasn't gotten there yet this time. Confused

Pez82 · 26/07/2017 06:52

Hi Munro, are you on some luteal support, progesterone or other?
I didn't spot during implantation but I know a lot of women do!!! Day 26, I'm keeping everything crossed for you!!!

Munrowalker · 26/07/2017 07:47

Hi pez
Not yet. It's something I've asked about with the clinic as the Clomid has shortened my cycle to 24days but still ovulate day16. I think we might do that next cycle.
I've read about implantation bleeding but only for a short time not 4days!

Pez82 · 26/07/2017 08:09

Then there are not many reasons why your cycle would be delayed apart from the obvious one (!!!!)
Some women bleed throughout their pregnancy and so many pregnancies get mistaken as a period.
When are you going to test? How many days are you post IUI? Don't wait too long until you test as it would be nerve wracking to get your hopes up and then get a -.
mini Pez is kicking right now, she's getting excited for you too 😉

Munrowalker · 26/07/2017 08:36

I've tested today and BFN
I'm 12 days post iui so I think if BFP it would be showing by now
Still spotting this morning
Gonna call the clinic today

Wish4Future · 26/07/2017 11:21

Hi all, hope it's going ok munro, my clinic doesn't say to text until 16 days post iui, are you sure it's not a bit early?
As for me, had a scan (day 5 of meds) today to see what's up. I've got one 12mm follicle and a few smaller ones. Anither scan on Friday now. Eek!

StorkAhoy · 26/07/2017 13:25

Thanks for the sympathy for the bfn ladies.

munro I really hope it turns around for you. Xx

Munrowalker · 26/07/2017 14:02

Nope..thats my AF properly started now. Still gonna call clinic as spotting for days can be a sign of low progesterone in the luteal phase.

Wish4Future · 26/07/2017 14:12

Gutted for you munro, so sorry chick x

Pez82 · 26/07/2017 14:17

Oh Munro, I'm so sorry, it's so unfair the way our bodies make us believe it could have worked when it hasn't. Luteal support sounds like a good conversation to have with the clinic. Big hugs x

pickle162 · 26/07/2017 15:00

Oh bugger Munro :( I'm so sorry. Yes def sounds like progesterone or hcg support needed if only managing max 12 days in luteal bit, implantation needs a bit longer.

Bear1980 · 26/07/2017 19:27

Aww sorry about bfn munro I hope clinic can sort something to lengthen luteal phase for you. What are your plans next?

Munrowalker · 26/07/2017 20:02

Just left a lengthy answerphone message at the clinic. Hopefully will hear back tomorrow...my wish list:
-a clear understand of my cycle and appropriate medication
-at least one full cycle to assess response to medication before next treatment

  • my amh level result!
-discussion about ivf- are we entitled on nhs etc
  • to receive the same treatment as those that live nearer the clinic do. ie ... regular bloods, scans and assessments...not just blinking pee sticks!

Too much to ask?
Tell me if I'm being demanding please
But I've said the last 3 cycles that my luteal phase is now only 10 days....and it's only now that they are saying that that's an issue. You seriously have to be a medical student to get anything done around here!

pickle162 · 26/07/2017 20:08

Wish congratulations on the first scan 12mm is good for only 5days and good leader is all you need. Good luck for Friday:) let us know how the follies are doing Smile
How you feeling in the meds? Any side effects? Such an exciting time :)

pickle162 · 26/07/2017 20:12

No munro definitely not too demanding. Just because you aren't paying doesn't mean u deserve sub standard treatment, no point in bloomin doing the iui if luteal phase only 10days as on average day 9-12 is when implantation takes place, you don't stand a chance but so much on your body (&mind) to keep going each and every month especially after waiting so so long to even get to this stage. Keep fighting for yourself sweetie. Let us know how u get on x

Wish4Future · 26/07/2017 20:13

pickle yeah the nurse seemed really pleased, as I have a high amh she was worried I'd over stimulate with the meds but so far so good. I'll let you know on Friday! I just want to know when 'go day will be Lol! My wife says I'm being very impatient Haha!
I've been fine on the meds so far, I'm on a low dose so I think that's helping with the feeling ok hormonally! I've had a few twinges in the ovaries but nothing bad! I'm glad it's going ok so far, because I couldn't feel anything I was a little worried the meds weren't working!

munro it definitely doesn't sound like you're asking too much! I'd want to know too! Xx

pickle162 · 26/07/2017 21:15

I was on 75mg Menopur every other day and apart from being a bit bloaty and upset stomach (made ibs worse but more so the nerves) thought it was going to affect me mentally more than it did.
Glad all going ok and yes don't want to over stim:)
Well follies on average grow 1-2mm a day so would imagine maybe around Wednesday ish-won't be long 😁this journey makes you sooooooooo impatient

Angliski · 26/07/2017 22:06

Hi gang! Had third iui Monday so now waiting

Angliski · 26/07/2017 23:12

Kwick I just want to say- they say oh your eggs are buffered that why you Miscarry but I got my first miscarriage katyotyped and it was a normal foetus. So just to say don't give up. I also have met several ladies who sadly have had a few miscarriages before having healthy kids. We may just be the types that have to give it a few goes. She says... the day her best friend gave birth to a healthy girl from her first attempts at turkey basting at home at age forty. Happy and sad at same time grrrr

pickle162 · 27/07/2017 02:15

Angliski hey :) welcome to twot again....where you are in alternate time universe.
I'm just heading into 10dpiui so will share 8 days of tww with you x

Everhopeful76 · 27/07/2017 07:36

Hi everyone!!
So sorry munro. The wish list you had for your clinic is entirely reasonable. Bit puzzled by the AMH though, did they not do this before your started your first IUI? Hope you get the response you need to all your questions.
Good luck Angliski Is this 3rd time? Hope its the one.
Wish seems like good progress with your cycle, long may it continue
Stork the reason you gave for the embryo adoption in the UK ie sperm donor could be named as legal father had jogged my memory, this was why they said it wasn't available to me. My head is full of the fertility journey, but yet a sieve at same time. Have you had any thoughts of whether you will attempt your OE's again, now CRGW(?) have given their opinion. Maybe see you in Greece at some point if you don't do an IVI option??

AFM I had my aqua scan in London yesterday (one of few places that do this procedure, which essentially is a hycosy for the womb, but with the added benefit my tubes were checked at the same time. Not in any detail but the saline ran out of me as quickly as it went in, indicating that they are unblocked, bonus for any IUI that am not permitted to have, but at least I have the knowledge that could get their naturally if I got a golden egg
So am full steam ahead to start a full DE cycle in Serum clinic, Athens in September. Am being down regged to synch with donor by heavy duty one off injection apparently complete with a very large thick needle (yikes), and have been asked for my wishlist for both donors, the lesser criteria, the better selection. Been really impressed with them so far, Medical Director is lovely. I have to send a sample of my "period" in my next cycle to rule out intra-uterine infections. Not sure what I tell the post office of the package's contents!? Ha. Will also be odd refrigerating it as I cant send it till after 20/8, around the time the clinic re opens after its summer break!!
xxx

StorkAhoy · 27/07/2017 10:56

Ever - oooooh sooooooooooooo many questions.

Right:

  • are you doing donor embryo at €3k or €5k?
  • so you aren't going to Greece twice? they have said I need to go twice once for acquascan, once for embryo transfer.....
  • where did you go for acquascan and bloods in London?
  • any other costs attached to this?

I have made an telephone appt with them for end of august, and I'm due to see them on Oct12th for acquascan, but if I can get that done in the UK then great!

StorkAhoy · 27/07/2017 11:05

ever also to say Im waiting for information from IVI in Spain as Ive been referred there by CRGW in Wales. - but didn't want to wait for them...

Ive pretty much decided to move forward with donor. The more I talk about it the happier I am with it, and the more I realise that I have nothing to lose. The fact is, if it (embryo donation) works, I won't care as I'll be so delighted, and if it doesn't work then I have more information to better fight the fertility war as I'll be changing some constants i.e. my eggs, which means it could be a deeper issue.

Everhopeful76 · 28/07/2017 09:02

Hi Stork

So yes doing the 5k egg donor cycle, hopefully giving me opportunity to have several goes if necessary, the first fresh, the others (if possible) FETS with the add on cost for storage and the transfer (off top of head don't know those costs, but can find out)...I felt this would be more cost effective overall than EA as its only embryo in my basket so to speak.

So yes I did have the aquascan in London rather than 2 trips to Athens and had a phone consult with Athens last Monday - they don't charge for their initial consultations - in person or on phone. Went to Concept Fertility in Putney/Wandsworth town area. Bit of a ballache to get there but I found them lovely, very helpful and the scan was very detailed. I believe the Herts and Essex clinic also do aquascans but found no reviews from anyone on Serum facebook page. My main thing was if its just on a list of things they can do and it was listed at the bottom of it, they probably didn't do them very often and was anxious about that. The cost differential is £275 for the aquascan at Concept, to 200 euros at Serum but then you have to pay for flight. My total bill for the bloods as well was £430.
You could have aquascan in Sept here and go ahead with treatment in Oct - potentially!!

Serum suggest that everyone does the detailed infection testing before starting, which is basically getting a sample of menstrual blood and sending it through the post. 2 separate tests (Locus Medicus test and Gene diagnosis 11 in 1) on the sample at a cost of 100 and 200 euros - I ve been recommended both.

It has up to a 65 pc chance of success with DE, that's how have looked at it too. Cant go through what I went through again, there is a minute chance of a pregnancy being affected with a trisomy and I ve heard from so many that Penny (Med Director) is so proficient at matching donors that many of the babies resemble their parent. I am reading up on epigenetics, and also as Kwik has mentioned, its not about just the egg, its the way its interpreted as an embryo in your womb. If the donor had carried the baby it would be a totally different child, to the one you nurture. Its fascinating stuff.

I am likely going over to Athens the 3rd week of September for the transfer. Serum close for their summer break today. You have to do an ordinary lining scan at day 10 which you can arrange here but I think because have not even been to Serum in person I feel like I want to go for the week on this occasion. Subsequent trips if needed I probably would do the overnighter and return. Feels good to have a plan. It was my birthday yesterday and felt quite depressed and missing Mabel but on the same day I received my treatment protocol so it feels like am reaching a turning point now

I had looked into IVI but because I wanted a full DE cycle, I wanted the cheaper option and there seems to be a 4k difference - which is a lot for me

StorkAhoy · 28/07/2017 09:46

Ah happy birthday ever!

Thanks for the info, yes I found concept fertility too, so I'm having my consult on the phone at end of August, and will prob use concept for the acquascan. I have a local scanning clinic I've used before so can use them for the pre Treatment scan.

Thanks for sharing about the €5k. So it's essentially double donor right? It's a fresh cycle, rather than using previously created embryos? I'm in two minds to do that or not. I know Serum freeze unused embryos from these cycles at €1000 for a batch of 1-3 embryos and that cost includes your FET plus a years storage I think.
I've heard brilliant things about penny! And yes heard she knows all the donors personally and is very careful about selection.
As I said, I'm in 2minds about doing DEmbryo or Double Donor. As I've never had a pregnancy, part of me thinks just do the 3k and see if it works?! If it does I'll be ecstatic, if it doesn't I'm only down €3k. Or do the €5k (which is really €6k with the FET and vitrification costs) it's the difference between full on matching, or hair and skin tone matching I guess!

Too many thoughts! But I'm loving having a buddy on this.

A week later, and ivi still can't seem to give me costs.... it's enough to drive me insane!
