Welcome solo
You've been through so much. I hope u have a good support network in place. This group is lovely!
I'm on cycle 5 of IUI and have found the repeated failed cycles difficult to handle so you get a great big hug from me.
Don't know why they didn't just repeat your same ivf number 1 protocol....i guess they would have had a good reason!
Welcome!

Pez82 · 17/07/2017 19:18

Turtle, it sounds like you've already made up your mind Wink
If IUI would be medicated for you then it's not a massive step away from ivf in terms of 'invasiveness'. I did both and got same number of scans for both treatments and just a few more blood tests for ivf. The embryo transfer is similar to IUI so the only main difference is the egg collection. Personally if I had to do it again I would go straight to ivf (I did a mild cycle) but maybe that's only because I know IUI didn't work for me...
I found IVF really easy and less stressful than trying to spot my LH surge (I was doing unmedicated IUI) but I know others have had other experiences.
The doctor told me I would get about 5-6 blastocysts to freeze and in the end I have 2 in the freezer, it's never as good as they say but I hope it will be enough for a future sibling. I totally get what you're saying re trying for siblings later on and this is what convinced me to switch to ivf.

You could also set yourself a limit on IUI, say 2 or 3 tries, if you're lucky and it works first time you've saved yourself ££££!

StorkAhoy · 17/07/2017 19:52

turtle I've just finished my third full-on ivf round and don't find it very invasive at all. I've never had an iui, but found the charting for temp and surge etc rather stressful, ivf is pretty easy in my opinion. But a word of reality though: in three rounds, I've produced 40 eggs that were collected, I've had 5 x 3 and 5 day embryos transferred back, but none of the rest made it to the freezer. I'm £19k in and no baby, not even a bfp and no frosties.

TurtleTree · 17/07/2017 20:21

Thanks for the info. I did think it was unlikely to be as easy as the doc seemed to suggest - 'we'll get 12 eggs and put half in the freezer for future and half for tries now'. But like Pez says, I'm not keen on having to keep an eye out for the surge and probably have already made my mind up for the future proofing element. Fingers crossed that's what it will safeguard anyway!

Stork that must be heart breaking to have produced all those eggs but not had many chances off the back of it. Lots of wishes for the future

Wish4Future · 17/07/2017 20:29

Welcome solo!

Glad everything went well today pickle, fingers crossed fire the next couple of weeks!

turtle we are going with medicated IUI because that's what was recommended for me, I have no cysts and clear fallopian tubes, but to be honest if they had told us to go with IVF instead we would have, as I'll be injecting drugs etc anyway! Good luck with the decision making! Xxx

kwick · 18/07/2017 07:58

wonky moist is a good word too Grin

Well done pickle!!! Welcome to 2ww!

The difference in protocol continues to astound me munro - I always had 15 mins (if I could make it than long due to need to do wee-wee) of rest - but no biscuits Envy shoes had relaxation music... I used my phone (1D all the way!!!)

Welcome going!!! You have found your brethren Grin
Really sorry about MC Flowers
What FC are you with and what the fcuk are they playing at? Why did it take them so long to go back to original protocol???? Angry
I take Metformin for weightloss (although really only works if you do not pile on extra Cake because you are taking them 😬). Keeping my 🤞🏼for you!!!

Yep 🐢 I always struggled between doing IUI or IVF...
I have had a BFP with both...

stork yep devastating when eggs collected do not make it Flowers

kwick did you say you had had a consultation with IVI? I'm trying to get info and prices out of them for double donation and it's like trying to get blood from a stone! I'm being passed from pillar to post, Spain to UK and still no clearer!

pickle162 · 18/07/2017 16:50

Stork is it a bfn this cycle? Or you just looking into options?

I should divert on way home to get pineapple, I'm just not sure I can be arsed?
Any opinions on pineapple? Def yay or not worry?

Bear1980 · 18/07/2017 17:16

I think its your own choice pickle, no-one knows for sure if it works but a lot of people like to feel like they are doing something to help. Hope you're doing alright

pickle162 · 18/07/2017 17:27

I have brought the 🍍

Munrowalker · 18/07/2017 17:48

I am on day 4 of eating pineapple.
Doubt it works coz I also ate pineapple on all of my bfns but if I don't eat it then I'll just feel guilty I didn't 'try enough'

pickle162 · 18/07/2017 18:11

Well I took the detour to get the pineapple l felt I should give it a shot so will be eating until it runs out .....all in eh?! Going to try and not have a bath this time either even if it was quite cold ...showers only for the next 17 days. Forgotten how much I dislike the twot- 1 day down....
Hoo ha still feels a bit violated today and just had some ewcm (still?!) with brown blood, presuming it's just making its way out from the trauma yesterday

kwick · 18/07/2017 18:18

stork I did not actually ask about prices Blush but consultant I saw is very responsive on email. Maybe I should ask...

Well done on 🍍pickle!
I think the blood thing is fairly usual.

pickle I'm 95% sure I'm out, heavy brown/pink discharge and bfn this morning which is 10p5dt.

I'm looking into embryo donation at my welsh clinic, as I like that idea, but also wanted to gather some double donor info, so I'm looking at team miracle in Cyprus, Serum in Athens, and IVI in Spain, but boy! I'm finding it really hard work getting pricing and protocol info from IVI. kwick its approx 5,000Euros at serum and teamM FYI.

pickle162 · 18/07/2017 19:41

Oh stork I'm so sorry, what a disappointment 😔 I don't really get the difference between embryo donation and double donor

Ah I hate how difficult it is to find out pricing info, perhaps they think if they don't put in the price that you'll get sucked in by their wonderful-ness 🙄 I queried pricing with my clinic at like 10pm and the very next morning I had a phone call clarifying everything...that's reasons for me to choose a clinic not loose my stack trying to find out info

Good luck my lovely x

StorkAhoy · 18/07/2017 19:46

ED in the Uk is this: clinics have embryos that are frozen from when couples underwent ivf. Many of those families have finished creating their families and face the decision to keep on freezing, defrost and let nature take its course, or donate them.

DD is selecting a donor for both egg and sperm and creating new embryos that way.

pickle162 · 18/07/2017 20:09

Ahhhhh I see :) there is so much out there. Really hope you get your happy ending x

StorkAhoy · 19/07/2017 16:38

pickle you too honey, and the same to all of us!

kwick · 19/07/2017 18:17

stork maybe it is only my consultant at IVI is good - she said a nurse would get in touch yesterday and said person has not. I am not going to go full throttle on it until I am back from holidays though - when hopefully my BMI will be 35 or below.
Really hope it is not a BFN this time my lovely.

Thanks stork x
Man I'd forgotten his tough the tww is! Think this beginning bit is my least fave bit where it could all be over already and you have no friggin clue! And just drags on-feels like it was weeks ago that I was last at the clinic but no only 2.5days ago
Had my pineapple and chopped up my portion for tomorrow to save me time in the morning
3dpiui injection tomorrow......just got to keep on plodding on

Wish4Future · 19/07/2017 21:42

Can someone please explain the pineapple thing? I'm lost! 😂

Wishing everyone luck, whichever stage you're at! Xx

Bear1980 · 19/07/2017 21:46

It's tough pickle but try and think positive. Fingers crossed for you this month

Pez82 · 19/07/2017 21:56

Here you go Wish
natural-fertility-info.com/bromelain-pineapple-for-implantation.html

For the same reason I took 75mg aspirin during my TWW which resulted in a BFP (and I'm still taking it at the moment, at 18 weeks). I told the obstetrician and GP and they're fine with me taking it.
Fresh ginger is also very good for blood flow 😉

pickle162 · 19/07/2017 21:59

Pineapple core is suggested to help with implantation I think

Bear I'm so impatient, someone need to devise a way of finding out or give u a mini camera that you can see what's going on inside
I'm ok during the day as well distracted but evenings are more tough.
Away with family from Friday so hopefully won't have as much time to think
