Prompted by the repeat showing of their acoustic show on sky, made me watch the DVD which I think was filmed in 1989 or summat, marvelous anyway. Love the Pixies so much, they make me do dancing when drunk, which isn't really a good thing

lucykate - I think you'd still look pretty cool to be honest! I love fashion today as you can get away with nearly anything.

I had a penchant for suede jackets, had loads of them, all smelly vintage....

DaDaDa · 12/11/2007 12:54

The First Time We Opened The Capsule, everything went...

Yes!! They were on this compilation I had, some charity thing done 'for the kids' or something I believe. Was the single called Fatima or something like that?

DaDaDa · 12/11/2007 12:56

I'll see your Kitchens of Distinction and raise you a Pale Saints.

It's all done a bit Snub TV, innit?

suzywong · 12/11/2007 13:02

fan here too
never reallyu that in t othem at the time of their heyday but am mates with one of their producers and got in it after meeting Joey Santiago at this person's house.
Saw them live in Perth in March.

Also must find time to explore Breeder too

glammama · 12/11/2007 13:03

Pale Saints!!!! If I hadn't done so many (Glam checks she's among friends)drugs I would have been able to remember these guys without your help. I loved this band! Having said that I'll see your Pale Saints and raise you a couple of Fieldmice.

CatIsSleepy · 12/11/2007 13:04

aaah Pale Saints....I saw them at the Bierkellar in Bristol
they did a more or less verbatim run-through of their album and then bogged off.

the Kitchens were super-jangly, I loved them

Fatima?? I don't know...has made me remember the Fatima mansions though...

[wallowing in nostalgia]

wisteria -monkey boots and smelly old suede jackets? that was me, surely...

glammama · 12/11/2007 13:04

turn up the volume

Wisteria · 12/11/2007 13:04

I'll see your pale saints and raise you a Fatima Mansions!! that was what I was thinking about.... only losers take the bus!

serenity · 12/11/2007 13:04

I still wear DM boots and large amounts of black - I've just swapped the fishnets and indecent skirts for jeans. DH wears pretty much exactly the same as he did when we first met.

My favourite Pale Saints song ever

CatIsSleepy · 12/11/2007 13:05

x-posts wisteria!

glammama · 12/11/2007 13:07

Serenity, I've gone all gooey listening to that again...

Wisteria · 12/11/2007 13:07

Spacemen 3 - my mates dh did the artwork on one of their albums after he picked them up hitching!

Wisteria · 12/11/2007 13:08

me too, thoroughly enjoyed that bit of curve though glam x

serenity · 12/11/2007 13:10

Well I've just favourited that Curve track on YouTube, it's put a big smile on my face. DH'll like it too, he had a 'thing' for the singer.....

CatIsSleepy · 12/11/2007 13:10

the fieldmice, were they one of those Sarah Records bands?

oh spacemen 3...i loved them too...so druggy

DaDaDa · 12/11/2007 13:12

Canonball by The Breeders is one of the few things that I an physically incapable of not dancing to. First few bars and I have to get up. Very sad.

Althouh these days of course I do that embarrasing 'groovy Dad' dancing!

aDadGoneMad · 12/11/2007 13:14

Ah now Pale Saints were the support the first time I ever saw the Pixies at the Zenith in Paris 1990.

Also liked Spacemen 3!

lucykate · 12/11/2007 13:14

one of my favorite albums is still by the throwing muses, think it's called the real ramona (its on vinyl and in the loft )

Wisteria · 12/11/2007 13:16

Alien sex fiend......and the Cramps....

Had to go and see them as they were the resident band at aforementioned Square Club, very loud and IMO impossible to appreciate unless stoned or pissed

Wisteria · 12/11/2007 13:17

Didn't they do the original Dizzy?

glammama · 12/11/2007 13:17

Glad to oblige!! DP is going to be cross with me when he gets home, just stood on a chair and rummaged around to get a box of tapes off a very high shelf (I'm 5 months pregnant) I found a tape I made with Kinky Love on it and a bit of Pop Will Eat Itself!! Riffs! Yeah! Can U dig it!!!
But for me this is the definitive song of my Mancunian years...... what more do you want in a song, eh?

glammama · 12/11/2007 13:20

Yes, The Fieldmice were on the Sarah label, lots of fey indie boys and girls, if I remember rightly. And The Breeders' Pod is still one of my favourite albums ever.

Wisteria · 12/11/2007 13:25

very 'Peelesque' Glammama.

I loved Freakscene by Dinosaur Jr for summing up clubland, it's still on my dogwalking MP3 along with Carter's Lovealbum and various other obscure singles like Danielle Dax..?

hellish · 12/11/2007 13:27

Love ' This monkey.." and "Here Comes your Man"

Thanks for reminding me
