Rights of OW. Not married to my father. My parents not divorced.

Last year, my grandmother died leaving her house to my father. He already owns the farm as his father signed it over to him before he died.

I had reason to need to stay at my grandmother's house last year for a few weeks. My father was happy with this.

Anyway, I invited my own mother to visit me and the OW (who has been with my father 20 years) went apeshit.

Anyway, facebook was involved later that day. Consequently OW drove out to the farm/house to tell me with outstretched arms that 'I OWN ALL THIS'.

I told her that she was as thick as shit and my father is still married to my mother. She owns nothing.

My parents are legally separated but not divorced. Am I correct in thinking OW owns nothing but the shit on her boots?

Yes, and she too was a married woman. He's my father though. She's just a random walking cnut to me.

The other consideration is that if he did leave it to her, and she is not his legal spouse (and no relation on paper) she would have to pay an absolute shitload of inheritance tax.

IdoHaveAName · 03/08/2017 17:32

Well it's been 20+ years and he still hasn't divorced my mother.

I'd be happy for my brother to inherit it all. I'd just choke on my vomit if that yoke had any rights to anything.
When I was living there everything is still in his name. I'm 100% he hasn't signed either house nor farm into her name.
She just thinks she owns half or something.

I may have called her a 'mad auld bastard' when she came out and declared that she 'owned all this'. I haven't been to confession either cos I'm not one bit sorry.

Haven't heard anyone called a yoke in a long time!

IdoHaveAName · 03/08/2017 17:40

I think she possibly wins the award for most deluded OW.

Are you sure there isn't something made her say it? God, why would you live with someone who wasn't divorced for 20 years.

IdoHaveAName · 03/08/2017 17:43

So basically, unless my father leaves her something in his will, she has absolutely no rights to anything? She is just a girlfriend albeit for 20 years.

pigeon - because she's as thick as two planks

Well you couldn't even get a divorce 20 years ago, and its still much harder than it is in the UK. Many people just don't bother.

SerfTerf · 03/08/2017 17:47

Under English Law, if she was financially dependent on him at the time of his death, she would have a claim.

Don't know about Irish law.

StinkPickle · 03/08/2017 17:47

You sound like a misogynistic bitch yourself, hun.

Your FATHER was the one with vows to your mother. The random women owed your mum nothing.

She sounds like she is in a very vulnerable position if anything was to happen to her partner (your dad)

She needs to get married asap.

IdoHaveAName · 03/08/2017 17:49

Pigeon - what made her say it is because I invited my mother over to visit me while I was staying there. She thought she owned the house. She actually stood over me at the table and asked 'WAS YOUR MOTHER IN THIS HOUSE?' I said yes. Then I went on facebook to all our relatives and slated her so she drove out to the farm and told me she owns it all and I was only staying there as she had allowed it. That's when I told her that she was a 'mad auld bastard, you own nothing and my parents aren't even divorced'.

It's not actually "projecting" to observe that a person who repeatedly refers to a woman as a "walking cunt" sounds misogynistic.

She does sound misogynistic.

IdoHaveAName · 03/08/2017 17:50

zippey - she'll leave with what she came in with. The dole.

To who? OP's dad is already married!

IdoHaveAName · 03/08/2017 17:51

It's just standard parlance if you're Irish SerfTerf.

Of course it is, since you don't know anything about them. Maybe OW is in fact a walking cunt?

SerfTerf · 03/08/2017 17:51

FB slating was probably a mistake.

IdoHaveAName · 03/08/2017 17:54

Nope. I finally got to see who she was SerfTerf.

You sound like you're going to do yourself a mischief, TBH. A blood vessel or something.

There's more of this to look forward to, you know, unless he sees sense and sorts his affairs out.

IdoHaveAName · 03/08/2017 17:57

This is craicnet. Cunt is not so bad of an insult over there. This yoke is deserving of the label. Believe me.

How would you like if you're staying at your parents/grandparents house and some OW tells you to leave because she actually owns it?
