How much do you spend on takeaway/delivery each month?

Hi

My mum and dad would usually get a takeaway each weekend like chinese or Indian food when I was growing up. Im now married and thinking to myself what is the average for a monthly spend on takeaways?? One on a Saturday night... a mcdonalds in the week... is that normal? Say every Saturday night to order pizza, Chinese or Indian so around £20-25. My husband doesn’t like the idea of ordering food for delivery obviously it’s a lot more money and it’s normally bad for you etc.. I just think of it as a normal thing that most households do a minimum of once a week! Especially if you can afford it and at the end of a hard working week fancy a treat! Tell me your weekly or monthly takeaway amount 😀😀

I didn’t have one takeaway growing up and we don’t have a habit of it either, though might enjoy it if had more disposable income. We love getting fish and chips and it’s really good value at our fav one on a special lunch time offer.

ParkheadParadise · 02/02/2021 20:42

Too much
We have 2 takeaways a week. Before lockdown, we would also eat out 2 nights a week.

converseandjeans · 02/02/2021 20:44

Payday treat so once a month - usually around £20 for 2 adults.

McDonald's for kids couple of times a month.

Usually cook from scratch & sometimes have ready meal at weekends.

Flaunch · 02/02/2021 20:44

I recon we spend between 150 - 200 a month or take away food - Chinese or Indian most weekends and a couple of McDonald’s.

I’m not really worried about it tbf. We’d have spent more on eating out before lockdown.

converseandjeans · 02/02/2021 20:45

ParkHead do you earn loads? We could never afford that. I'd like to eat out more.

strawberriesontheNeva · 02/02/2021 20:52

We buy the odd bag of chips so maybe we spend about £4 every few months .

DinosaurDiana · 02/02/2021 20:53

£0.00

ParkheadParadise · 02/02/2021 20:56

@converseandjeans
My DH does and I hate cooking 😃.

converseandjeans · 02/02/2021 20:58

Parkhead fair play - lucky you 😊

Gigia · 02/02/2021 20:59

Never although we can afford it.

CrustyCrabbe · 02/02/2021 21:05

Probably.....takeaway pizzas twice a month for all of us, two adults and 2 DC (so £25 x 2) and then DH and I might have a curry or a Chinese, which is about £20. Sometimes we might grab a fish and chips too. So about £50-£60 each month.

My DM doesn’t like any takeaway apart from pizza so I was about 15 before I tried a Chinese with a friend - loved it Grin

DukeOfEarlGrey · 02/02/2021 21:11

We rarely had takeaway when I was growing up and I’ve never been that interested. However, since Covid hit I’ve become quite addicted to deliveroo as a treat to replace going out. I almost always order sushi at about £25-£30 a week for one. It’s a lot but it makes for a nice Friday evening treat at the end of a long week when I can’t do anything else or see anyone, so has become a bit of a ritual to look forward to.

ConkerBonkers · 02/02/2021 21:12

Maybe about 20 pounds once every three months

Loads! Maybe £150-£200?

ParkheadParadise · 02/02/2021 21:22

I miss my life pre-covid
I would meet one of my sisters weekly for breakfast at a local cafe. I also would meet my niece and her kids with dd and we all went to the pub for lunch.

minnie465 · 02/02/2021 21:24

Used to be once a week pre covid. Have went off them completely. Don't live in a city. I find the food is always cold when I pick it up. I think they tell everyone their food will be a while so that people don't congregate at the moment. Have tried deliveries too so still the same. Have resorted to making our own "Chinese" and pizza. Delish. Obviously have more time for home cooking at the minute anyway

cushioncovers · 02/02/2021 21:25

Payday treat once a month about £20 for two adults

vulturedudess · 02/02/2021 21:26

We could afford one weekly but only get one about once a month through choice. Spend between £30-55 on it for me and dh, bit more if kids eat with us. Either an Indian or a Turkish from a nice local restaurant.

I'd rather go out for dinner than get a takeaway. Obviously not atm but still don't bother. Wouldn't do a McDonald's once a week either, take the kids as a treat every so often, maybe monthly.

MrsTeachers · 02/02/2021 21:26

A lot BlushBlush

minnie465 · 02/02/2021 21:26

I must admit that if I lived in a city with lots of wonderful options I would be ordering regularly. Previously loved going out for brunch/coffee couple of times a month too.

CaptainMyCaptain · 02/02/2021 21:27

Nothing. We never have take away. I prefer to cook.

Evasmissingletter · 02/02/2021 21:29
