Love the lovely Jersey cows Em!

We're in the garden. Just video called my mum so she could see and talk to the dcs. I'm really missing her, I think it being Easter weekend has made it worse.

Dh and dd made delicious hot x buns though so that cheered me up a bit.

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/04/2020 15:06

Sure throat -yip
Warm but not a fever - yip
Sore ears inside in the drums -yip
Sore finger especially pointy and middle - yip
Lack of taste/smell/ appetite - yip.

11 days and counting - yip

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/04/2020 15:08

Painted some shelves as DH and DH painting downstairs loo. Weeded the front garden.

Bloody headache and zapped of energy.

Sunny here but not hot

ememem84 · 10/04/2020 15:10

Hair is not as pink as I’d like. But. The blonde bits are a faint rose goldy pinky. Subtle.

ChristmasSeacow · 10/04/2020 15:11

I’d never heard the sore fingers thing before!

Mrsmadevans · 10/04/2020 15:37

Wolf THANK YOU FOR THE NEW THREAD Flowers
Spending today 43 on Asda groceries , have finished the last thread hope everybody is well Smile

Catforaheadrest · 10/04/2020 15:51

Hello Frugs :)

I’ve had a little stalk of this thread in the past. I’ve probably posted months ago.

I’ve had a little achievement, and I can’t tell anyone IRL. It’d be a bid weird. I really want to tell someone, and thought of the frugaleers. I hope you don’t mind me sharing it here.

10 Days of April. Spend = ££ZERO££

There is money set aside for groceries and bills. Due to lock down, my fuel tank is still almost full. I paid off a debt at the start of the month and that has left me with £72 in my personal account. Target is to see the month out without using my overdraft. I think I can do it!! Which will make it the first month in literally years I’ve not used my overdraft.

And the sun is-a-shining!

Have a great weekend, all!

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/04/2020 16:03

Fantastic cat.

Loving the thread use up drivel Mrs

Was going to try and order fish and chips but as the line is constantly engaged so is everyone else it seems. Will put oven on in a bit and stop being lazy

Unescorted · 10/04/2020 16:05

Good effort cat

The lack of spending opportunity makes it easier here too.

I am still feeling OK - just a mild sore throat, a bit achy, cough and constantly on the verge of a flush. So I weeded the back garden. I want to buy some more compost and plants... so far I have spent nearly 2 hours in the B&Q virtual queue. I still have 22 minutes to go.

Wolfcub · 10/04/2020 16:22

Unescorted hope you feel better soon. Life keep taking it easy and recover.

Welcome new folks.

Casserole main body is on the stove. Need to add chard and mushrooms later - this is a bit of a sad/weird veg made happy dinner. No recipe.

What can I do with a bottle of date syrup? Accidental got instead of maple.
Unless anyone uses it?

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 10/04/2020 17:37

Found you! Thought the other thread was quiet 😆

We're not long back from a long walk, it was lovely as weather so nice and the roads are so quiet!

Need to mow the lawn and cook some tea in a min.

FaceTimed my mum this morning snuggly and we were both in tears 😥 I'm going to drop some bits to her house tomorrow and let her have the dog for the day. Social isolation when you live alone is just awful.

Happierwithouthim · 10/04/2020 18:24

Catching up on last thread & this one
Mrsmadevans ooh bread and butter pudding looks heavenly

I give up peach upside down cake Grin

Tayto I must buy some outdoor games for dc, picnics, dog walking & exploring are bound to wear out soon Grin

Queued for Dunnes for 10 mins today, decided I wasn't going to queue for an hour so went to aldi €229.13, it is dds birthday next weekend & I haven't been in Aldi in a long time, freezer & pantry cupboard are groaning, my Dunnes vouchers expire on 21st so I'll shop again then probably just to keep in with them.
Primarily healthy shop though so I've made my peace with the spends. Got myself a bunch of tulips for Easter €4.99 they're beautiful. A mini greenhouse & compost for ds's seeds €5.98. Their 2 part curry sauces were reduced to 99c so I got 3 of them!

Love that's shocking that no one has offered help.

I didn't see anything about mumsnet membership, I do love it here with you guys. Although I don't have much access to internet at the moment Confused

Em no one there to make him do it so he's probably actually not wfh at all.

Tayto I used a wire cutlery tray in my drawer of doom & it worked really well. Drawer of doom is now in console table in Room of Doom(coincidentally) in storage until we move house again.

Em I forgot my planned waxing purchases when I had to go to aldi instead of Dunnes AngrySad

Welcome dk20, I've a 6 year old boy and almost 10(in 10 days!) year old girl

Wolf I get what your Ds thinks about seeing his friends, however I saw bf twice this week using social distancing and I have come around to idea that it's nicer to see him from a distance than not at all.

Good luck with your application form, thanks for thread

Tayto ds can make jigsaws like that, it's very intense work. How many pieces?

Unescorted another one of us Shock

Christmas ShockWink no used to innuendo from you Grin

My dm said to me she's going to give dc cereal away as she's only eating it & it'll be gone off by time they visit again, I'm still not accepting that the summer is a write off yet Hmm we're in lock down now until 4th May in Ireland with no date for school re opening

Life I knew you were ill I missed that it was covid 19 somehow.

Em get another box Grin

Welcome cat for headrest you'll fit in well here. I'd a cuddle with our cat on Tues, he stayed with ex h when we moved, not my choice Sad waiting until house purchase goes through to get new kitten. Dd was enquiring about a rag doll, priced them €1050 for pet or €1200 for show quality. We won't be getting one of them.
That's fantastic going, to be out of our overdraft & have that debt paid off.
StarGlitterball

I bought spice bag mix in Aldi today & I've chicken tenders to use up so that's my plan for tonight's dinner.
Dsis was telling me this morning she misses spice bags so I'm going to have one for her!
It's cost €2.75 which I was kinda horrified about but sure it'll save me so much more so I shouldn't be horrified really.
Remember reading somewhere you should buy what you'd like in supermarket as it would cost so much more if you were to eat out, obviously this was not someone struggling with money.
In my shopping today was a ready made sandwich €1.65, as I was gone from 8.30 to 1pm

Myself & F.C. at work discussed how lucky we are to have two children today as having an only child must be so much harder during this isolation time.
With regard to wages from now on they've not decided yet whether we'll be topped up by much or what's happening but either way I'll get a payslip & €350 covid payment. If it's only that I'll have to review budget with regard to au pairs money €130 weekly. While ex h is still employed I'll be getting maintenance of €170. I'm thinking I could propose to her €100 a week, she's actually not working now at all because I'm at home. One hour last week & 4.5 this week. HmmConfused will wait & see what comes of it at work first.

Hey everyone!

Dh and fil have spent the last two days sort in the garden out, which was in such a bad state that it resembled wasteland, its still in need of lots of work but is a thousand times better now, so the kids have been out there today enjoying the sunshine.

Anyone looking for outdoor games, I'd really recommend this archery set from Aldi (Decathlon sell something similar but it's more expensive) it comes with a bow and three 'arrows' both dds really enjoy it, we've had it a few years now and they have been using it in the garden today.

I've woken up this morning with a huge cold sore - no idea why, but it always makes me feel rubbish. Also seriously need to stop eating as soon none of my clothes will fit me and that's not frugal.

£137 left in my food budget for this month, that's for 4 adults and 2 teens, but I do have stuff in the cupboards and freezer.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend with some nice weather ☀️

Not sure if it is covid happier.

LaneBoy · 10/04/2020 19:52

So cool camden wish we could get to Aldi! We already had the bows and arrows from decathlon (DH used to teach a home ed PE class until his back got too bad - please ignore the messy house and garden 😳 the stuff on the grass is tin can bowling by the way 🤣 #frugal) but they’ve nicked cagletini’s tuff tray to make a target which they’re outside using a lot (pic from the other day). Really glad I bought the set of coloured masking tape! I’ll have to use other tubs and trays for toddler activities for a while :o

LaneBoy · 10/04/2020 19:54

Oh I put the messy house/garden disclaimer on the wrong bit 😂

Happierwithouthim · 10/04/2020 20:03

Great ideas Smile

Unescorted · 10/04/2020 20:17

Camden mine was a native wildflower meadow weed patch as well. I have managed to clear most of the back one, and it is looking lurvley. Irritatingly we have had a bit of a shot across the bows about heavy green bins from the local authority. I have been good about drying the weeds and knocking all the soil off to reduce the weight … but it is still quite heavy.

Lane I love how inventive you are with the kids. If you use FB put the ideas on there & you will be the toast of the town.

Em do we get to see how pink your hair is?

Happier top peachy upside down cake! I didn't bake in the end - it was too nice outside ( we don't get many nice days here).

I am so glad I have company for this isolation. We are also taking delivery of one of DD's friends … she has a pretty shit home life that is getting more stressed as the family finances get stretched, so it is safer for her to be here. She has stayed for long periods before - and the dynamic works so it seemed the right thing to do.

SnugglySnerd · 10/04/2020 20:20

Love the archery Lane!

I agree about the kids Happier, ours do entertain each other playing cafes or hospitals or witches or whatever for quite long periods now. Most involved I have to be is customer/patient which is quite easy really!

It must be so horrible for them on their own Girlie. I sent my mum a Moonpig Easter card with the dcs in their Easter bonnets and added a big box of chocolates as a treat to cheer her up a bit. It was appreciated.

Welcome Cat and keep going this month - you can totally do it!

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/04/2020 20:21

So someone (not me) has done a rip off of mumsnet and called it mums-chat... Interesting.

Ah that's good of you unescorted to take in DD friends. I would totally do the same

StraightOuttaCamden · 10/04/2020 20:35

Excellent target Lane - dd2 gave dd1 a tip to get better scores and then she beat her Grin that didn't go down well!

That's so kind of you unescorted, plus I'm sure your dd will enjoy having her friend to stay, that's the hardest part for teens I think, missing the social side of things.

Unescorted · 10/04/2020 20:45

We live rurally so the kids are used to not seeing their friends in person over the summer, but they are itching to get out. As am I.... I would love to be able to sniffle without emptying a shop or weighing the ethics of going up on the hills. I know we are really lucky - outside space, not financially impacted, fairly full shops, kids that don't fight, forgiving employers ….. but I just don't want to question every action. Was it OK to give my neighbour a pot of gooseberries, should I have spoken to a friend I saw walking past, will people judge if I have a BBQ, will FB light up when DD's friend turns up in the village ( she is Chinese... we are not). Sorry about the moan.

northender · 10/04/2020 20:51

Wow the thread has been busy.
Hot x buns were lovely. Work was okay and dd made tea so I can't complain.
Using NHS hour at 7 tomorrow morning for mum and next door neighbour's shopping, then gym class, then take shopping to mum & chat at a distance while the dc clean the inside of her greenhouse windows for her. Then home, BBQ and chill.

Happierwithouthim · 10/04/2020 21:08

I can confirm that Aldi's funky monkey spice bag seasoning is the bees knees Grin having only had spice bag once before this was an exact replica except I didn't use breaded chicken.

Unescorted very kind of you to help out dds friend
