It's a great thing you are doing unescorted for dd's friend. You can't stop people thinking how they choose, so long as you are happy with what you're doing. Rural living has pros & cons.

Unescorted · 10/04/2020 21:31

Happier is a funky monkey spice bag an essential.... and can I use it as an excuse to get a clematis from Aldi tomorrow.

North you are right. I am conflicted on the pro's and cons - the village is tearing itself apart as judgement is sprinkled liberally, but we have space so I can switch off from the curtain twitching. One of my colleagues doesn't have even a balcony in his apartment and his partner has been laid off.... I cannot imagine what it is like. I the circumstances I feel bad for being a moaning minny. Tomorrow I will wake up in a better place... it is swings and roundabouts.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 10/04/2020 23:34

Late sign in.
Welcome to the newbies.

Unescorted, I had the tight chest, achy muscles and joints, high temp, my wrists hurt too and the fatigue was immense.
Really hope you feel better tomorrow.

My dd2 is having a really heavy period, she is a bit scared, but not in any pain, we have had a good few chats over the last couple of days.
I was hoping that she wouldn't inherit heavy periods from me, poor thing, she is only 9.
She has used a whole packet of towels since yesterday, but some of that was because of displacement.
I went shopping today and bought different sizes in towels as the lil-lets teen towels didn't seem big enough for the blood loss.

On another note, I bought potted chives, basil and coriander today and a three in one pot from lidl, with the plan that they will go on the windowsill.
Now I'm not green fingered at all but I would really like these ones not to die!
So wise ones, what do I need to do?

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 11/04/2020 01:47

Oh and spent just below £84 in three shops.
Got loads of fresh stuff for that, really glad I could get salad, fruit and veg, we were running low on the fruit and didn't have any salad or veg.
My dd was very happy that I got her some tomatoes!

ChristmasSeacow · 11/04/2020 07:45

What a kind thing to do Unescorted. Never mind the curtain twitchers. I worry so much for the kids who don’t have a happy home life right now.

It’s my lie-in today. I’m wide awake but might take advantage to read my book for a bit (and get DH to bring me a tea). It’s so warm today already. I’m thinking of getting DS’s bouncy castle out but not sure whether DD will be scared of it or not as the motor is quite loud!

Unescorted · 11/04/2020 07:57

Curvy Thanks. I am feeling loads better. A lot less achy, my temperature has dropped and have developed sneezes. It feels like a normal cold that has broken. I suspect I was being dramatic, but won't risk going out until I am absolutely sure.

If the pots are the ones you find in the Fruit & Vege aisle then split them out to give the plants more room - I plan on getting some parsley, thyme, basil & coriander and any others I see. Each will get split into 4-5 plants or more. I plan on hardening them off by putting them out in the sun and bringing them in each night for a week of so. Making each day out slightly longer. Then I will plant them out in the garden - except the basil & coriander because they are really susceptible to frost so I will keep them in for a few more weeks.

Wolfcub · 11/04/2020 07:59

Bouncy castle sounds a fab idea Sea I bet when dd sees what fun it is she will get over the noise

Unescorted look after yourself and well done for looking after others

Need to get up to take ds to his dads. Le sigh

There is an absolutely ginormous spider on the ceiling in the stairwell. It's too high even for the longest vacuum attachment to get it and the thing is the size of a tomato. I am not happy. Ds hasn't spotted it yet but will have a total meltdown when he does

OP posts:
Unescorted · 11/04/2020 08:05

Sea can I stay at yours? I want a bouncy castle.

I think my computer listening - I turned the radio on and had Farming Today on in the background. I am now getting adverts for cow feed. Normally I get recruitment for MI5.

Unescorted · 11/04/2020 08:06

What about a long handled broom? Would that reach?

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/04/2020 08:45

It's raining here. It's not forecast rain.
Toying with going to Sainsbury's for fresh stuff or risking scurvy....

ememem84 · 11/04/2020 08:56

Pink (?) hair. It’s more of a coppery blonde. Than anything else. I’ve ordered some neon pink semi permenant stuff.

Wolfcub · 11/04/2020 09:02

Two long handled brooms taped together might do it but it'll laugh at me from a distance if i go after it with one

Job application sent in. Eeek. It wouldn't be as much money as the current job I'm going for (by a long way) but potential other benefits and a change of scenery. We will see what happens

SnugglySnerd · 11/04/2020 11:38

Your poor dd Curvy, I always think it must be hard for girls who start young. It's not like at secondary school where all her friends will be going through it too. I'm very impressed with the period pants I bought. Great for catching leaks.

We made crispy cakes this morning. Dd wants to leave one out for the Easter bunny like we leave snacks for Santa!

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 11/04/2020 11:47

Snuggly, yes exactly, but hats off to her, she is just taking it all in her stride. I did try to get her some dark knickers in morrisons yesterday, but they didn't have any in the child's section and the smallest thay had in the women's section was a 10, these would have been too big.
I actually forgot about the period pants! Do they do small sizes?

SnugglySnerd · 11/04/2020 12:01

I don't know as I only looked for my size. I got them on Amazon and they are plain black but I looked at a different brand that does pretty patterns and colours for teens, they might do smaller ones. I'll have a look...

SnugglySnerd · 11/04/2020 12:06

Curvy go on the Modibodi website and click the Red tab, this is their youth range. They start at 8-10, I can't work out if that's age or dreas size but the way the sizes are grouped make me think age. They have ones with patterns and nice colours. I'll warn you though, they ain't cheap!

Wolfcub · 11/04/2020 12:31

Ah Curvy poor dd, I found heavy periods distressing as a teen it must be so hard to have to deal with this at her age

Credit card bill arrived, I decided to clear it (it would have taken me three months at the rate I was overpaying) so that's the last credit card gone. My only remaining debt is a loan and my mortgage. I can't tell you what a difference this is from 10 years ago when we hit absolute rock bottom and thought we would have to file for bankruptcy. Even better knowing that it's my determination that has got (me) to this point. StbexH's debts remain stbexh's problem but I've dealt with all of our joint ones and all of my own and have them all under control.

Budget redone to account for the above which helps me feel on control. If my tca ends and I get no new jobs we will cope.

The key thing now is to try and progress divorce - not sure how realistic this is with court closures - so that I can remortgage in my sole name before the rates start to climb in the event of a r-word we don't mention

All the above in the context of I know how fkin lucky I am right now compared to a lot of people who are struggling and none of this is meant as gloating in any way

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 11/04/2020 12:39

Thanks snuggly will have a look.

Wolf well done!

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/04/2020 12:39

The cheeky wipes are good but not sure how small they go. Size 4-6 was the smallest pants I spotted. Their customer service is excellent so might be worth an ask. DD has really taken to the period pants and washable bamboo pads. She prefers them to the lilets but we have both in so she can choose.

£58 in Sainsbury's. Fuck me it was nightmare, to many people for my liking, ignoring the one per family rule, loads of stockouts.

Will done wolf. Job is Worth a shot imo. Also not a gloat post. Fabulous work on the debts. It's all relative to our own situation.

Ah curvy you are awesome with your DD

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 11/04/2020 13:42

Aww thanks Life, and thank you all for the kind comments about dd.
Will have a look at the cheeky ones. I use reusables, but dd doesn't want to try them yet. I think she is a bit weirded out about carrying around soiled ones, not that any of us are going out!
I will suggest that we get some and she can just wear them at home.
She has a tiny waist, so will measure her and go from there. Thank you all.

Unescorted thank you for the information re the herbs.
In the attached pics is what I got.
Now assume I know nothing about planting, well because I don't, haha!
I don't have any compost, should I get some and if so what one?
Should I make holes in the pots, I'm guessing so, but just the round bits??
I don't have a garden or a private balcony, if I leave the plants outside they will get damaged, a couple of the neighbours have young children and it is the only bit of outdoor space they have, there is lots of ball kicking.
Will the plants be ok just on the windowsill?

Thank you x

Hopping back on. I love the idea of a cake for the Easter bunny, I’m sure he will appreciate it. I have an egg or two to spare so I will make an Easter cake.
We are off this weekend so just cleaning and getting organised for whatever next week throws at us. I work in a private hospital and we expect NHS patients soon, step down covid and urgent surgical cases too. I wish it would happen soon but we are awaiting deliveries of certain things. My partner is a key worker too so he’s still out everyday. We think he may be made redundant soon because of the current situation but hoping for the best.
@ememem84, I’m envious about the pinky hair! When this is over I’ll do something interesting with mine. I had purple hair briefly, but that was a long time ago.

Happierwithouthim · 11/04/2020 17:34

Unescorted definitely!!!
Wolf well done on clearing cc Star
You're not gloating at all you've worked hard to get to this point

Wolfcub · 11/04/2020 17:42

Welcome back Duchess

I have fettled my kitchen cupboards and stock rotated my brexit stash. There's a lot of instant mash to eat before June

Welcome newbies and welcome back duchess

Good work on the credit card wolf

My dad has been very confused again the last few days. He’s left the house and gone round to my parents friends twice, last night when it was dark. My mum got called by the vicar today suggesting she needs to put him in a home Sad . Thing is, and I do agree with my mum (for once!), he’s not at that stage yet. He still very independent and can go for hours being his usual self. If we weren’t social distancing i don’t think anyone would be saying that yet, but no one wants him turning up. Once he then comes back home from friends house he seems to reset and know who she is. I don’t know, I’ve told her she needs to speak to the team looking after him.
