That's more like living like you have no bills Grin. Has he watched eat well for less on the bbc?

Mimena · 07/10/2018 21:30

We have - in a ‘those people are nothing like us!’ kind of way, but I suspect some of their habits are not dissimilar though nowhere near as extreme - too many brands, not enough Aldi (our closest supermarket), throwing away food that goes out of date before we eat it, fussy child who we pander to a bit as he needs to gain weight. And too much wine. Plenty to work on!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 07/10/2018 21:48

My friends dd who is a similar age to yours seacow came up in spots around her mouth this morning and now has spots on her toes, my friend is assuming hfm. Rubbish timing for you 💐

mammynowanauntyIRL · 07/10/2018 22:04

Lonely I think possibly all groups of women are bitchy, hopefully it's something you can avoid getting involved in, playground battles Angry
I'm fortunate to only work with one other woman & everyone else is male. Jinx jam just read your workplace is the same Grin

This evening when dc came home we did some painting & then chatted while they put their laundry away. It was lovely, so much so that I forgot to eat my dinner until my tummy rumbled and hunger headache set in. I'm now tucked up with a hot whiskey & a full belly Grin

Christmas I don't think you'll get away with that switch somehow Grin
Cake sounds good
Hope your dd doesn't have hand foot & mouth, no experience of it here.

Em sounds like you're getting it from all angles

Mimema is he on board with your plan to reduce spending?

Cagliostro · 07/10/2018 22:52

Did the idea of doing it himself occur to DH at all em? And FFS who disturbs a sleeping baby 😡🤦‍♀️

I got some board game apps thinking they’d do instead of getting the games themselves, thinking it might put me off if they aren’t worth the hype... all they’ve done is made me want the actual games even more 😭😳😂 I won’t obviously and TBH we don’t have time to play much as a family anyway. In case you’re wondering wolf it’s Jaipur, Lanterns and Potion Explosion.

Far too tired to contemplate the week ahead. Ugh. I have spent most of the day covered in baby snot and more recently calpol/tixylix spillages

Wolfcub · 08/10/2018 01:08

Cag I have potion explosion as a game and app. Love it. I have Jaipur as a game. Love it too. Sorry that’s very enabling.

thistimenextsummer · 08/10/2018 06:28

Morning! Another week....also counting down to half term here. 3 weeks to go.

I only spent £22 yesterday - Hotel Chocolat gifts.

ememem84 · 08/10/2018 07:02

cag if you can afford them I’d buy the real games. Apps are great but there’s nothing like a board game. There’s something about it. The glossy box, the smell of it, playing with real people and not staring at a screen... #enabling

I am getting it from all angles. It’s tough. Everyone has an opinion about the house. Dm is scared we’re going to lose it and thinks we should have just agreed to undertake inspections after we bought it...

Ddad keeps on asking if I’m ok (which is infuriating as it’s every 10 minutes...and he’s not asking to listen to the answer he’s just asking for the sake of it).

Dh moans about how tired he is and how he’s stressed and how he can’t relax (but then doesn’t see that he disturbs my “quiet time”). Yesterday afternoon I needed 30 minutes to finish listening to my book. Ds was napping so I came upstairs tidied a few things away and headphones in. He came up 7 times to rant at me about the new house or something else. So I extended the quiet time. And then I’m lazy.... aaaaaaaaaah.

Breathe. Just breathe. Stressful for everyone. Breathe.

Anyway. Today. I do need to start picking up things for ds for winter so may do that. Vests are first on the list. And then maybe some cheapy slippers for nursery. They usually just wear socks but slippers might be good. Mil bought him some ugg boots which are deliciously cute but he’s not taking them to nursery. They must have cost her a fortune and I don’t want them to get lost.

LonelyOversharer · 08/10/2018 07:18

Clarks baby slippers have always been the cutest. Ds had some doggy ones (I might have kept them).

Unfortunately these women went to school together and have worked at the same place for 15 odd years Confused. It just depends who's week it is to be picked on. Last week it was mine. They all bitch about each other, there is no-one not in on it. Anyhow, I'm just going to plod on and keep going.

The house is such a tip too, which always gets me down. Dp has been very sore (needing morphine top ups) so nothing got done last week. I'm going to be cheeky and write him a list today. It's that or scream very loudly. List it is.

Right, lunches to make. Have good mondays my people x

Cagliostro · 08/10/2018 09:06

I’m not sure they can have worked there for 15 years lonely as they sound like they’re about 12 years old 🤔😡 head down, don’t engage with it, think of the money and the fact that the actual job is something enjoyable (I hope that is still the case at least)

Oh you bunch of enablers. :o I will most likely get them someday, they are certainly staying on my very long game wish list. I agree em I love the components of decent quality games (I’m very fussy on this :o). I’m thinking potion explosion might be our Christmas board game actually wolf it’s technically always DH’s choice (I choose the next year’s diary) but it was on the short list last year. DD isn’t as much into games as the rest of us but I think she would be motivated to play this one. Not that we get much time to play lately (we were playing something most days when we first moved but real life and exhaustion got in the way) so the apps will do for now.

Actually I still need to ask eBay what to do about the game I ordered months ago as the seller as gone AWOL again. 😡

I’m just sitting zombie like on the sofa ATM. Woke up to my alarm and a message saying my friends can’t come and do Japanese after all which is a shame but also a relief not to have to rush round tidying 😳 (it’s not that bad TBF just yesterday was hard). DH took the others to Asda for a top up but I never manage to go back to sleep. I slept downstairs with the baby - she finally fell asleep on the sofa and moving her wasn’t an option she literally woke up screaming every time all day due to cough/cold. So I slept on the floor for half the night until she woke for a feed. She’s still asleep now.

Need to finish my George order and then update the list of what clothes still need buying.

Thatsnotmybookworm · 08/10/2018 10:14

I hope work is better this week @LonelyOversharer.
Yesterday's spends:
£45 dinner out DH and me.

Need to get the rest of my winter clothes out of the attic today and get the last of my summer clothes packed away.

ememem84 · 08/10/2018 11:21

It will be a better day today.

I’m off to jojo at lunchtime (as have a full loyalty card and can get money off if I spend over £35 I think) and M&S for vests for ds.

I am tempted by ugg boots (emotional spender here!) but am seeing if I can hold out until payday (I absolutely can!) and will order online from Schuh via topcashback.

Everyone here appears to be wearing leopard print today (well all the women anyway). In one shape or form we are all “rocking it” (as the daily mail would say!). I opted for a top, my colleague has gone for shoes, another a dress, another a wide waist belt, another a hair scarf....another a fur gilet (it is not that cold!) stylish team today. I feel sorry for the men’s sometimes. In their boring suits. Or their boring chinos and shirts. No fun.

ememem84 · 08/10/2018 12:59

£23 jojo on some socks and ds and some waterproof dungarees. He has a coat and dh felt the dungas were more practical. Used my full loyalty card so £15 off. Yay.

£12.50 M&S on long sleeved vests.

And that’s it.

ememem84 · 08/10/2018 13:00

Oh and £20 amazon on a clothes rail.

Wolfcub · 08/10/2018 13:08

Slogging through work with very little enthusiasm today. Made myself coronation chicken sandwiches with some chicken thighs I bunged in the IP last night as they needed cooking - needed some salad leaves which I didn’t have but otherwise very nice

Wolfcub · 08/10/2018 13:10

Em we had salopettes for ds. They were ace and fitted him from 1-3

ememem84 · 08/10/2018 13:19

Oooh and the drain people have been to my (hopefully) new house. No problems. Yay!

So £200-250 well spent in my mind. Peace of mind. That’s all I wanted. Yay

Thatsnotmybookworm · 08/10/2018 14:03

Great news @ememem84.
Winter clothes are all out of the attic, need to get them into my wardrobe now, then I can organise my work clothes for the week.

ChristmasSeacow · 08/10/2018 14:32

Fingers crossed for the purchase going through this week Em

Sounds very cliquey Lonely, don’t let the witches grind you down!

It’s such a shame our DD’s are in the sand size clothes now Cag! I have mountains of stuff for DD (as usual), though 12-18m has been a funny size for us as it has completely crossed all climates so we’ve needed everything from skimpy summer rompers to fleecy coats!

Well, took DD to the hot Gp today and he said it is HFM. But as her fever has broken and she’s basically back to herself, though spotty, there’s no reason for her not to go to nursery unless they have an exclusion policy. So I rang them and they don’t (once fever has gone and she’s eating etc normally) so we went along for settling again as planned. She was happier than on Friday (when she was probably feeling awful), much to my relief! And we are still on track for starting properly next Monday. Fingers crossed she’s okay when I leave her there. We try that tomorrow for 25 mins I’ll try not to cry

Just taken a work call and now quickly drinking a cup of tea before waking DD up for the school run. I don’t know what’s wrong with me today but I have the munchies really badly...

northender · 08/10/2018 15:09

Hope your dd improves quickly Seacow. I've heard a few people talking about HFM recently so maybe there is more than usual around?
Em i remember living with my parents while we waited for our house purchase to go through. Ds was nearly 3, I was pregnant and we were all in 1 bedroom having relocated from the other end of the country. I can totally relate to the stresses you're having. Hope you get sorted soon.
£42 on grocery shopping here. Circuits class done and otherwise it's been study all the way and I'm quite happy with what I've done.
Dd is on another trip with the exchange students today, just 2 more nights and then back to reality. I'll be relieved as it has been quite intense and stressful!

WreckTangled · 08/10/2018 15:17

I think HFM has a season much like chicken pox. Mine haven't had it yet but my sister got it a couple of years ago and said it was agony.

Home now, need to get ds from the bus then get dd from after school club in forty minutes, home for dinner quickly before ds' swimming lesson that'll be £25. No other spends.

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/10/2018 17:41

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/10/2018 17:54
