cag ds has a coat but I was debating a waterproof snow suit/puddle suit thing.

We haven’t yet done proper shoes. That’s next weeks agenda.

This week (apart from house buying (hopefully)) my jobs are:

Buy vests/bodysuits for ds, think about waterproofs, hat scarf mittens.

WreckTangled · 07/10/2018 14:43

I would go for a non padded puddle suit. We had snow suits etc but they're no good when it's wet and 14 degrees or if you're in and out of shops. At least with a thin one you can do rights, tracksuit bottoms and big chunky knit under when it does a get chilly.

WreckTangled · 07/10/2018 14:45

We used to have the JoJo one 😍

Lovemaltesers · 07/10/2018 15:44

NSD

DP has taken DD2 to a party and DD1 is watching the greatest showman while I type my assignments honestly I am working. I am not feeling at all intelligent right now 😬

We had a warm snowsuit but not excessively bulky for age 1 so it could be worn in the car. And layered up when needed. Then a puddlesuit (worn with layers dependent on the weather) and warm coat for age 2-3.

Lovemaltesers · 07/10/2018 15:46

Your 'DH' is being awful mammy. Although no doubt you expected no less, it would have been good if he could have been cooperative for your DCs sake and proved you wrong! Thanks

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/10/2018 16:21

Well done sea dd

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/10/2018 16:26

Puddle suit with layers.

ChristmasSeacow · 07/10/2018 16:36

I need to get DD an all-in-one for nursery as they are out in the Garden every day in all but the worst weather. There are covered areas but a mud kitchen, sand pit, ball pit... basically, she’ll get filthy. I’m going to get the regatta one from Next as it’s £20. It’s not especially interesting but there was a child wearing one in the nursery when I was there this week and it looked strong and properly waterproof. I looked at the Jojo one this week Wreck but it looked more showerproof than waterproof? That would probably be fine for most circumstances but maybe not nursery! This is similar in weight, I bought it for dd to wear when not at nursery. It will make me smile.

ChristmasSeacow · 07/10/2018 16:38

It comes in a cute green dinosaur design too Em Wink

LonelyOversharer · 07/10/2018 16:57

Oh how I miss puddle suits! Perhaps less the wilful toddlers that went into them!

We had some LLBean ones ($$$) that did 3 of my dd's and both my friends dd's. She probably passed them on too.

Had a dickish ebay buyer today...why you not post to me in Russia!! Um, no. He sent me increasingly irate messages until I contacted ebay.

Snacks in Sainsbo's cafe, and a dozen neon tetras (+other fish tank bits) about £75 all in today.

Just had a crap week really, the honeymoon period is over at work...are all bunches of women bitchy? Only I've not had to deal with a group of them since school. Still love the job though. I have got half term off though, 2 weeks to go!

Cagliostro · 07/10/2018 17:12

Oh I’m sorry lonely (but glad to see you here 💐) I know what you mean about work bitchiness and all that. Hopefully the time off will do some good as you get a break from it. Is it generally the kind of job where you can ignore the gossip etc?

Thanks so much for the advice re puddle suits etc! I’d not thought of the layering idea so I’ll go for that. Plus, OMG at those links. DD1’s face at the M&S one: 😱😍😍😍

I’m ordering a load of stuff ATM, just went through all the Caglets’ clothes and am ordering what I can at Asda George first, just basic underwear/joggers/sleepsuits etc. As I hate traipsing through shops. Need to order my bus pass holder too.

WreckTangled · 07/10/2018 17:17

That's shit lonely sorry. My last job had bitchiness but only behind people's back Hmm my current one doesn't everyone is too busy and stressed to be bitching.

Lasagne for dinner made double so can freeze half

AdoraBell · 07/10/2018 17:18

Just trying to catch up, Sea hope DC are all better by now. Dr in Chile told me to give them flat coke to drink rather than water. Full sugar version.

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/10/2018 17:46

Freezing on the footy line, bit of house work, £40 primark, £40 new look for dd birthday.

Looking forward to doctor who later

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/10/2018 17:46

NSD. Got up at 5:30 to watch the F1 live. I think dh is glad the other races are afternoon ones.

Women are just too delightful to each other Lonely 🙄

Justanothermile · 07/10/2018 18:24

I work with a bunch of blokes lonely and one other woman, who is absolutely lovely. The language and chauvinism is somewhat Shock at times but it's all good natured and I prefer it so much more.

Sausage and mash for tea, veggie ones for us.

£50 Sainsburys, including a cushion I didn't need but loved.
£18 race entry.

Another quiet week and weekend planned, it's a good month frugally.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 07/10/2018 19:08

lonely sorry to hear that, I try hard to not get involved in the bitchiness at work but where I work its 99% women and they can be a nightmare at times.

We've had a nice day in the end, do played and caught up with homework this morning while I went to aldi. Spent £50 but approx £15 of that was non food stuff, they were selling some stuff for cyclists so picked up a couple of bits to give my brother for Christmas.

We went to an apple day this afternoon which was fun and had a nice walk afterwards.

Watching Dr who now!

northender · 07/10/2018 19:24

Bread looks good mammy, sorry dh is being such a piece of work.
Hope things at work improve lonely at least you enjoy the work.
Unfrugal weekend trying to survive the exchange visit!!. 2 meals out for 4 plus drink, cakes and crazy golf yesterday.

ChristmasSeacow · 07/10/2018 19:33

I’ve got to stay out of the way later while DH watches Dr Who as soon after broadcast as possible (kids’ Bedtime gets in the way). Maybe he won’t notice that I’ve replaced his normal basmati rice with whole grain? WinkGrin

DD has spots all round her mouth. She doesn’t normally have spots and these are very noticeable, broken skin and whatnot. I googled it and the nhs ‘children’s rash’ page suggests it might be hand, foot and mouth. She does have a couple of spots on one foot but no mouth ulcers, as far as I can tell, which I think are essential components (spots around the mouth being an optional extra?). Anyway, that might be what is going on but if it is we can’t continue with settling at nursery for a few more days until she is over it. Which means she won’t be able to start properly a week tomorrow. That’s a bit of a disaster... I have so much to do for this project and already have a slow start due to need to settle dd in nursery (every day for a fortnight 😬). I can’t do fewer days because they are paying me to do x work by deadline y (a fixed fee). So I am in a right pickle. Arse.

I also accidentally ate a bit of healthy-ish cake that I made FOR THE KIDS. Banana, oats and walnuts. Not too much sugar and very little butter, but it tasted as good as normal cake. Defo one to make again. But not eat. I am on a serious weight loss mission.

Today I’ve made about 10 pints of chilli for the freezer - must be at least 16 portions - and also some tomatoey veg sauce for the kids (8 double portions). And am currently cooking a pork, chorizo and chickpea casserole in the oven for tomorrow, there will be at least a spare double portion for the freezer. Today I have used All The Big Pans. Grin

It’s been a weirdly quiet weekend with the kids being ill!

Wolfcub · 07/10/2018 19:52

Sea that sounds like a marathon cook-a-thon. That does sound a bit like hand foot and mouth to me but I’m no medical expert.

It’s been a challenging day. I am having a glass of wine and when ds has buggered off to bed I am ordering an unfrugal takeaway. I do now want to go to work tomorrow

Lonely sorry you’ve experienced that at work, I’ve experienced it in the past and I have to say I’d take a bolshy slightly misogynistic workplace over a bitchy one any day. I hope it’s just a passing phase and improves quickly. I have half term off too and I am hanging in there for half term.

ChristmasSeacow · 07/10/2018 20:01

I agree Wolf, bitchy workplaces are the worst. Sorry you are dreading work yourself, and sorry you are finding work has a down side Lonely. I hope the snarking is not directed at you.

I’m going to ask my mum if she can help liberate me to do some work this week. I really hope she can...

Cagliostro · 07/10/2018 20:08

Fingers crossed!

I thought Jodie was fab in that episode

ememem84 · 07/10/2018 20:15

Nsd. We’ve been for a big walk. And had a nice dinner.

Ddad is being a pita. Ds went to bed about half hour ago. He took a wooden fireman up with him. It’s on the bed or the floor in his room somewhere. Ddad is convinced yesterday ds has it with him in his cot so just went in, light on, and has started searching for it. Aaaah.

I’m so stressed out. Dh isn’t helping much as he is also stressed. He’s just asked why I haven’t sorted ds’ next size up clothes out. I’ve pointed out that I’ve had no time. I wanted to do it this morning but we were at fils. I can’t do it while ds is sleeping and dh has said I’m not spending enough time with ds. Ffs.

We’re out tomorrow evening (I really don’t want to go but we’re seeing our friend who’s dads just died so sort of have to go) am at the gym on Tuesday and then out at a cooking course on Wednesday. So it’ll be the weekend before I get to do anything.

Have just taken time to organise my diary and bag(s) for the week and outfit for tomorrow. Yay.

Mimena · 07/10/2018 20:54

I don’t think DH is quite getting the ‘live on one wage’ thing just yet - as he came back from the supermarket with salmon, steak, and various other luxury food items! It’s tricky as he does most of the cooking, I need to try to encourage him to do joint meal planning so that I can influence what we then need to buy.

Fairly quiet weekend, no spends apart from DH’s extra supermarket spree!
