Jobs I’ve done today (whilst being at work)

  • electricity connection
  • tv licence
  • water application

£35 in accessorise on a new pair of leopard print flatties (mine have seen better days - will sell them as trashed on eBay...) and a new keyring. New house. New keys. New keyring.

ememem84 · 11/10/2018 15:41

thats it’s not is it?! But important. Dh knows about roofs. Fil is/was a roofer. So he can help him do insulation and a loft fit out. Dh has been Pinterest geeking too. Proper loft storage. Squuueeeeeee!!!

Plans for reducing energy are:

  • thermal lined curtains
  • insulate loft properly
  • slippers for everyone.
  • lights off unless in the room
  • tumble dryer sparingly
  • dry outside where possible
  • proper clothes for everyone.
Wolfcub · 11/10/2018 15:48

Sea I don’t suppose you happen to know anyone with a copy of Bradley’s benefits realisation book that they are looking to offload do you?

kitkat6 · 11/10/2018 15:57

wreck you do not need to be loaded to see an IFA majority of my clients are normal work from home or work out the house mums. There are some who are high net worth only.

em not sure if you are UK based if you are that is a very strange way of working pension contributions that you have to pay for them to contribute. 15% seems high but assuming you wanted to retire on 70% of your current salary not entirely surprising amount.

We are having a shonky day, outlook isn't working so cannot get into work emails, Ddads garage was broken into last night, DC2 is under the weather.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/10/2018 16:03

Nsd.

I love insulation talk 😊 electric blankets, heated throws too. You can’t beat thermal leggings & long sleeve thermal tops.

ememem84 · 11/10/2018 16:03

kit I’m in jersey. So British but not technically uk.

It’s crazy re the admin fee but hey ho. The pension person advised saving myself money and paying in at once. For my tax form it’s also easier to fill in as it’s just one lump sum.

15% is a serious amount. It was also suggested that I pay in an amount relating to my age. Ie I’m 34. So £3400. I tend to save and pay in around £5k a year if I can. More if possible but not always.

Have budgeted my monthly pay down to zero. So I can account for every penny. Yay. Majority goes to joint account and savings.

Thatsnotmybookworm · 11/10/2018 16:04

They all sound good @em. I need to look into loft insulation, and possibly pumping extra insulation into walls too. And thermal lining for curtains would be a good idea. My friend recently got the double glazing in her windows changed to triple glazing without actually changing the windows so that might be worth exploring also.

ememem84 · 11/10/2018 16:04

AS OF tomorrow mortgage goes up from zero. To £430,000. Bugger. But worth it. New home. New start. Yay.

I’m going to be a grown up again!

WreckTangled · 11/10/2018 16:08

Fluffy do you know when Aldi have their ski wear in?

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/10/2018 16:41

No Wreck

Cagliostro · 11/10/2018 16:45

Ah summer that’s a kind thing to say thanks :) I am glad his skills are being recognised too. He wasn’t actually diagnosed was he? Are they going to assess him further for anything?

I had a panic attack earlier and we are staying in 😣 spends £3.50 as sent the Caglets to Asda for movie night supplies since we are staying in, and they are keeping the rest for tuck money next week. I feel so guilty 😰

AdoraBell · 11/10/2018 17:20

NSD today. Vet yesterday, £85

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/10/2018 17:35

Is the paw getting better Adora?

LonelyOversharer · 11/10/2018 17:56

Hope you have had a good day seacow and that your new shoes have behaved. I buckled and wore my summer shoes again (fly london yuna wedges). My tendons have clearly shortned wearing only them for 6 months, as everything else makes my calfs ache.

Work is ok this week. Tis bizarre.

Yes, center parcs solely funded from ebay sales, and there is another £200 in my paypal. Lots of posting though, £10 today on another 5 parcels (two fitted through the fat letter slot). £20 fuel.

We are booked from school to christmas. We're very close by, so barely any travel time really. I'm hoping it will all be suitably Christmassy, but the pool will be warm and the dc will have a blast.

Eek em for tomorrow! So thats the exchange in court, and you can move in straight away if you want to?

cag, DO NOT feel bad just remember how poorly you used to be, and your caglets will understand, and have loads of fun with movie night. You need some down time too. Sorry to be shouty. Consider yourself told Wink

Cagliostro · 11/10/2018 17:59

Yes ma’am :o

But seriously Thanks doing a bit better now, 6pm has come round really quickly I’d best do dinner. Normally we would be out to eat (so have saved some money at least 🙄) but I have chopped onion and celery in the freezer, will add some pepper and do tomato pasta with ham in.

northender · 11/10/2018 18:00

Quick check in before the thread is full. Spendy week here with extra socialising because of the German exchange. Anyway, she has gone now so we can fully relax again!
£15 spends at aldi today. Friend's daughter has asked me to make Millionaire's shortbread for her 21st birthday get together tomorrow night. Dh came back with evaporated milk instead of condensed so I need to nip out again for that & then get baking.
Cricket committee meeting tonight [dull]

WreckTangled · 11/10/2018 18:07

Five calls in two hours from the insurance broker. He did say he would call but that's just a bit much. Now I have a text message too. It's put me off even more tbh.

I made my own Ikea style meatball sauce for dinner so easy and tasty.

Lonely I have heard CP's is awesome in the run up to Christmas.

Cag please don't feel bad Thanks look after yourself.

AdoraBell · 11/10/2018 18:49

Fluffy yes, much better and the infection is under control. Her nails delaminated and it was spreading over all four paws, so they think it’s an autoimmune thing. It is also possible that it was caused by the MRSP taking hold if she had a scratch, iyswim. For now we just need to keep an eye and take her back if it reoccurs. She’s very happy to be rid of that horrid cone 👍

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 11/10/2018 19:05

Busy day here, there was a cock up with dds audiology app with resulted in me wasting about 1.5 hours 😬 anyway she did eventually get seen and the audiology chap was very thorough. He thinks the inner ear has blocked but should resolve in time, he has adjusted her hearing aid in the meantime.

summer hope you're okay, senco appointments should be constructive really.

cag can't work out what you're feeling guilty about?! You've devoted your entire life to raising and educating your children, you're pretty amazing really!!

If I spent £1500 on a washing machine i would want it to dry, fold and put the washing away for me as well 😉 my Bosch machines are fine and my last one lasted 8 years.

Spent £5 hospital parking
£7 subway for lunch (me and dd) used a voucher.

Wolfcub · 11/10/2018 19:06

Frugal dinner. Yesterday’s tea had lots of veg and sauce left over as there was far more veg/sauce to meat. Reheated blended and sloshed over pasta. The remaining blended sauce has now gone in the freezer.

£3 in the garage on milk crisps and chocolate for work - this was not a healthy day

£7.60 Tesco on wine (believe me it’s needed), pastries for breakfast and bread

thistimenextsummer · 11/10/2018 19:18

Wolf I'm so glad you said that. Expensive unplanned corner shop 🍷 just opened here. Definitely needed!!

WreckTangled · 11/10/2018 19:24

Our washing machine is ten years old and still going strong. I wonder how energy efficient it is though

mammynowanauntyIRL · 11/10/2018 19:51

Taking notes from em's plans for new house. I definitely plan no shoes in my next house to help cut down on cleaning & to help people relax too.

Same here wreck ten year old washing machine too.

€8.50 on sweet f*ck all in polish shop, my first visit - a white snickers bar, peanut lion bar, 4 lemons, pack of Jaffa cake like biscuits, big pot of strawberry yogurt, 2 pouch yogurts, 2 packs of sweets like chewits and a bag of sweets.
€2 on pack of 8 pocket packs of tissues.

€35 on bulbs for my car

Wolfcub · 11/10/2018 20:04

I’ve just spent 10 minutes scrubbing sauce my stove top and tiles and remember exactly why I love my instant pot - no sodding spatters to clean up.

Did someone (Fluffy or Quite maybe) day they had a heated throw? Just seen one in Lakeland and 1p per night to run seems very frugal

WreckTangled · 11/10/2018 20:08

Mmm I want a heated throw! It's fluffy who has one.
